I live in Szczecin and I must say it was so painful for me to watch you got lost there ;) There is basically no "center hub" in Szczecin that is strange. City was designed same as Paris and mainly built by Germans (however it was founded ~1000 years ago in Poland and recovered only after WWII). You went to the castle and the river but missed Wały Chrobrego (by 100m) that is top attraction and a jawdropper sighting really. You walked near Filharmonia that was selected best building design in Europe lately, main hallway there is just a piece of art - must see. There is much more happening in summer - river surroundings are full of people and there is a funfair, young people meet there and on Deptak Bogusława (small street but full of cafes etc that was one block away from you like 5 times). Green building is city hall but you should go through it and see Jasne Błonia (green field, very beautiful) and Park Kasprowicza (top park, very beautiful). Seeing you walk in circles and end up in malls was just a great example how bad tourism is here, signs are pretty much useless and people don't know where to go. I hope you can come back here in June-August and see for yourself. Sending smiles from Szczecin and open to share more about this city because it deserves more.

I guess we (Poles or no Poles, 'exposed' to Poland) all know Polish people are not among the most smiling or cheerful. Let us hope it will improve with time. Repeating same observation episode after episode does not seem very constructive or revealing though. Also for bit deeper insight it might be useful to take into account that many of theses people have duties, responsibilities, challenges you might not have. They might have not spent last months travelling to sunny destinations. They might have spent years carrying out hard/dull (and not well paid) jobs to support themselves and their families etc etc. Also this time of the year (late winter), turbulent times of pandemic and war in neighbouring country (and a few more things of recent years) might also weight on their mental state. Not sure if you at all take those into account. If not, you risk your observations being quite superficial and lacking ability to take other people's perspective. Aside from that, I agree it would do us Poles good, to smile more, not to take things too seriously. I think it has changed for better over decades, but it is not a speedy process.

Szczecin is the kind of city people goes to either study and get an education so that they can get a job in Warsaw or they go to Szczecin to help out their old parents untill they die. You seem to be a person with a high energy and who loves to meet new people (like you said yourself), and you're out during the day wandering about asking where all the people are? Bro, they're in school! I love Szczecin, 50% of my family is from that city. Been there so many times during my childhood that I've lost count. But if I was an out-going and social high-energy person like you I would never visit this place ever again. Because it has always been a very slow city where people are just taking it easy.
