Best player to ever pick up a snooker cue. A total genius and master controller of the cue ball. My favorite player of all times. When he retires snooker will never be the same.
Even though I think it's Ronnie playing a mind trick on himself, when he says he doesn't see himself as a snooker player anymore and that he only plays to enjoy the game, I do believe it's working really well for him. Sometimes you've got to create these kinds of stories for yourself to relieve yourself from the pressure of being called the GOAT, the biggest talent ever and what else we call him. When Ronnie's at ease, he's not only the best, the best that ever was, but he plays the game like it's a totally different game than what the rest of the world elite plays. His long pots, his potting average, his cue ball (and cue) control, his ability to see what noone else sees, his break-building, his use of the pockets, the way he can pot in the middle pockets from every angle, and his safe game - all of it was just on par for this World Championship and make no mistakes here. Ronnie was under so much pressure to even the score with Hendry on the number of WC-titles. You really could see it when it was over. It was quite emotional to follow - even to see Judd be so "happy" (of course he would rather have won himself) with Ronnie winning his 7th. Ronnie was the far better player in all of his matches and I don't concur that they just played poorly. Ronnie played so well, that they had to take too many chances and that made them look poor in comparison. That's what a master does. He plays so well, that the rest look poor in comparison. So cool, calm and collected that I've never seen him before. Ronnie IS the greatest, the greatest in a field of so many very great players.
i totally agree mate. When Ronnie's feeling good its almost impossible for anyone to stop him. It feels like he has the ability to literally make his thoughts reality on the snooker table
My biggest impression of Ronnie's performance at the world championship this year was his cue ball control after he potted the balls from distance. When he went for the pot he always tried to put the white in a zone where he'll be able to continue the break. Fantastic tournament! Well played Ronnie!
u r ri8..but if u have seen the full matches then you would know that he would risk it after he has atleast 3-4 games lead.....obviously thats the winning play because he cant risk it when the game is going tight
When Ronny won this year he went from being the only player to ever win 6 of each of the Triple Crown tournaments(World, UK & Masters) to the only player to have won 7 of each of the Triple Crown tournaments. And let's be clear here, when Davis and Hendry were winning nobody else won more than 1 World title where Ronny has broke the records alongside 2 4 times and a 3 times World champ, absolutely and undoubtedly the greatest player to ever hold a queue.
I like that Ronnie always shows his oppenent respectand downplays his himself. He doesn't let it go to his head and stays humble. I think that is one of the reasons why he is in my mind, the best ever and still improving.
I don't expect to ever see a better player than Ronnie. I appreciate greatness in any sport. His level of greatness in his sport is rarely matched by anyone regardless of the sport. He's snooker Gretzky
Beautiful, top class, wonderful, really good, excellent, delightful, brilliant, stunning, precise, magnificent, gorgeous, superb, great, fabulous, perfect, terrific, tremendous, perfection, outrageous... these are words used to describe some of the shots in this video and who could argue.
It’s quite an achievement to hold on for what is it, 17 days ?. Seems a bit over the top to me...but I think at one time the world champion final was a best of 99 frames, or something ridiculous like that.
@@smr_0172 I have watched it a few times myself and I have to stick with my opinion...having the black ball tight on the rail, Ronnie played the shot in a way to be sure that the cue ball would rest tight on the cushion and send the black ball on to the top cushion, that's what I believe Ronnie played. Only him can tell us for sure if he went for the pot.
He went from being the only player to win 6 each of all 3 Triple Crown tournaments to the only player to win 7 of each of all 3. If(when) he wins an 8th World crown he will hold every single record in Snooker outright. What makes this more astonishing is that when Davis and Hendry won their titles nobody else won more than 1 World title where Ronny has faced up against 2 4 time and a 3 times World champs, literally 3 of the best players of all time in their own right.

Ronnie nuked his opponents to win the world championship this year. He outdid his opponents in every single aspect of the game almost all the time. This will be remembered in history as one of the best of his many dominant performances to win a title. He only lost a single session (against Trump) in the entire championship and he drew one session against John Higgins, other than that he came out on top in every single session he played in this tournament. It just shows what a force he can be when his natural talent is paired with determination and hard work. I think now it's fair to say he's contributed to snooker more than any other player and is a true GOAT.
Maybe Netflix should send a camera crew too follow him every year. He seemed really focus, and in control this year. Very similar too how he was in 2020, with no audience in the theater.

Yeah Ronnie has essentially been the GOAT for years already but that variance of World Titles vs Hendry's use to get brought every time. It was literally the only stat out of all of them that Ronnie wasn't the greatest in yet that was enough for some to deny him GOAT status. Anyway, good to put that to bed finally and we can move on.
In this year's World champs Ronny went from being the only player to win 6 each of the triple crown tournaments(World, UK & Masters) to the only player to have won 7 each of the triple crown tournaments. An 8th World title and Ronny has every record outright and, frankly, I can see no reason he can't also become the only player to have won 8 of each of the triple crowns. Put into context as well that when Davis and Hendry set their records nobody else won more than 1 World title while Ronny has set his while facing a 3 times and 2 4 times World champions, 3 of the greatest players in their own right and Ronny's records become even further elevated.
@@darthwiizius And what's mad when you think about it.... There were years and years where Ronnie seemed genuinely disinterested in snooker. Just imagine if snooker received 100% of his focus.
@@craigmonty Yeah it was at times frustrating to watch him but I think in reality he just had too much thrown on his shoulders from early on. Then of course a few years later his mum got sent down for tax evasion. Really I'm just pleased Ronnie has finally found a little peace in his life which has helped him somewhat fulfil his potential, no doubt though if he'd found it from the beginning he'd now be on 10 or 12 of each Triple Crown because from his first title at the UK when he utterly bodied Hendry with Hendry in the best form of his life that this 17 year old was already way above Hendry's level. In fact I can only think of 2 players capable of beating a Ronnie on his game and that is John Higgins and Judd Trump, they're the only 2 I've ever seen play close to Ronnie's level.
we missed out on possibly THE best final, if only Williams had edged out Trump in the other semi. both players were playing the best snooker, with Williams banging in sixteen tons and Ronnies overall game it would have been great to watch.

He won the World amateur champ at 15 and made a 147 in the final frame. Everyone knew he was the GOAT when he beat Hendry in the UK final at 17 years old. He destroyed Hendry in the final, Ronny's first as a pro, despite Hendry being on the best form ever seen by anybody in the semi-final against John Parrot. The match started and 20 minutes later they went off at the interval with Ronny 4-0 up and Hendry having played 4 shots in 4 frames, 2 breaks and 2 perfectly good safeties from Ronny's breaks.
