Wilson's new contract will force the Broncos to strip their team so deeply to meet the salary cap, that they will sink to the bottom of the NFL. Even this coming season, Wilson will be out of control, undisciplined and will be an interception machine. Carroll will unleash a defense on Wilson that he has never seen, full of surprises. @@kennethrohen5963 I hope Pete Carroll embarrasses Wilson. Russ has never received any real criticism, and it's always been the people around him. Ever thought that the seahawks quick starts and slow finishes are tied to Wilson's inability to stay consistent over an NFL season. And he's now playing in a division who plays more 2 high safety looks than anyone in the league. He may not suck right away, but give him 7 weeks and they'll see
When Seattle lost to new England there was so much talk that a defense that, good needs better qb. I remember how I got his jersey and traded it for Sherman because back then I thought he sucks and because he's too selfish. All now comes out. We have seen so many times when he didn't use receivers but wanted to do it him self. To be honest many fans of Seahawks thought its not the line it's u stupid
The Thursday night football thing, I feel, was stupid of Russ. He should know that in a short week they wouldn't have been able to make THAT many changes to the install. Thats where I feel this was all calculated. He could go to the coaches and ask for something, they say no, he then could say "They didn't show me respect".
I predict the opposite. The reason for them not having a better career is 1. Wilson was a big reason for the success. Lynch went from Wilson to Carr and you see the result. Paul Richardson same. The other guys that left were near the end of their careers while Wilson is still in his prime.
Lynch's entire career success happened when Wilson was his QB. The defensive players had a good moment one year (Thomas and Sherman) but were exposed in postseason losses with Baltimore and SF. Russell Wilson will be fine.
@@123slasher.16 I wouldn't disrespect the defense like that personally, but the success of the defense was short lived because of injury and also the varying ages of the players on the defense
Why they failed in the end. 2012-The rookie Wilson had them 31 seconds from the NFC title game until his defense blew it in just 23 seconds. 2014-they lost the SB and everyone felt Russ' INT was the reason. Here were 3 things never mentioned. a-Just after halftime, Seattle settled for the only FG in the game when on 3rd and 2 in the red zone, Lynch was stuffed for no gain by Nikovich. b-leading 24-14, Kearse dropped a perfectly thrown bomb by Wilson that would have put them in the red zone. c-thr the defense blew a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter. 2015-the defense that season blew 5 leads in the 4th quarter, were about to blow the Minnesota game until Walsh missed and were pushed around by Carolina. In the playoffs, offense was missing both Graham and Rawls. 2016-key injuries on both sides of the ball. 2017-no running game, bad O-line and poor kicking game. The defense had major injuries. 2018-in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, Wilson balled out only to have Carroll blow the Dallas playoff game by taking the ball out of his hands. 2019-this team had a great chance but major injuries to Carson, Penny and Dissly forced them to play backups in the playoffs. 2020-Wilson was mediocre in the playoff loss. 2021-when the defense blew the large lead against Tennessee, the team never recovered. Pete Carroll was the weak link. Russell Wilson kept afloat for years a weakened roster while other starters were not around for late season or playoff games.
@@kendraftman you lost the SB because that overrated defense that still had 6 Pro Bowl guys on the field after Avril left blew a 10 point lead in just two possessions.
@@kendraftman tell me why Seattle had the only FG in the SB? Because on 3rd and 2, Carroll put the ball in Lynch's hands and he was stuffed for no gain by Nikovich. I guess you forgot how Lynch fumbled on the 1 yard line in the 2013 NFC title game against SF? I guess you forgot how Lynch fumbled on the 1 yard line in the 2012 wild card game at Washington? I guess you forgot that going into the end zone for the lead score in Atlanta, Lynch fumbled the ball that was recovered by his own guy? Great my ass! Look it up!
As a eahawks fan and Seattle resident we saw what Russell look like when we let him cook and it wasn't good we didn't win very many playoff games and we didn't get back to the NFC championship game. But what we did see he took a lot of sacks he threw a lot of interceptions and he forced the ball into bad situations.. oh we also saw him every off season for the past two off seasons tell us that he wanted to be traded and the teams that he wanted to go to. Russell Wilson benefited early from a stout defense and five Hall of famers that he played on the other side of the ball with those in which you did not mention like Kam Chancellor Richard Sherman Earl Thomas Cliff April Michael Bennett KJ wright Bobby Wagner. Not to mention Marshawn Lynch in the backfield. So we Seahawk fans are not exactly mad to see him go
First off he didn’t really start cooking until 2020 and that’s when the catch phrase “let russ cook” and you saw his stats the first 7 games, dude was on record to be MVP and much more, then week 8 everything fell apart, we can blame RW3 for that sure, but we can also blame the coaching staff and the defense. His stop throwing the ball as much in the 2nd of the season. If your offense is exploding with RW cooking why would you turn around mid season and run the ball 30 times a game? And what “playoff game” did we ket RW cook? The 2019 game where we ran the ball Into literally no where so much that it caused us to loose the game? If the run isn’t working why keep running it? Or the falcons game in 2017 or the 2016 panthers game? Which playoff game did we see RW actually cook and he didn’t deliver?
All goes back to the throw on the half yard when beastmode was behind him. Beastmode wouldn't won mvp but he didn't talk to reporters and carrol wanted Wilson as mvp. That's when the defence starting leaving. The next season carrol made the same call on 3rd and short to lose another game and Sherman and others were pissed. Franchise went down hill from there.
Russ' play last season was only decent if you looked at an aerial view of the stats only. In fact, his last 3+ years are only good if you use that same view point. Russ is a guy you can win with but not a guy you win because of. Denver will find that out very soon.
Not True. There are several games Seattle won because of Wilson that they surely would have lost otherwise. Some of those games, it seemed like he was the only one that showed up.
@@dirkdiggler9147 Carroll and Bevell should have been fired after super bowl 49 and Russell Wilson should be traded for first round picks a few months later.

Aaron Rogers top OL, Drew Brees top OL, Ben Rothisberger, top OL. All paid top dollar but all with top OL. How or Why is this miracle possible? Because their teams prioritized the protection of their HOF QB & saw it as key to their success. Something the Seahawks never did. So tired of Hawks fans stupidly blaming lack of talent on Wilson’s contract, instead of Seahawks lack of emphasis on a top OL and horrible draft picks which led to desperate trades like the Adams trade. Not going to lie this is probably most objective videos about the Russell/Seahawks situation I have seen. It lays out the facts as we know them and you can come away on either the Seahawks side or Russells side depending on your own personal opinions or feelings on the situation. Excellent vid keep up the good work
Yeah that has been a speculation for a the past year that was finally confirmed by Brady Henderson. It is an interesting thought game of what happened if the Browns had accepted the trade. Would the Seahawks taken Josh Allen in that spot? What would the team look like if that had happened because clearly Josh Allen has been a stud draft pick so far in his career. Having the rumors confirmed is an interesting fact to the story to finally have confirmed from rumors. Truthfully how I read that situation personally is that during those publicly tense contract talks the Seahawks probably saw the possibility that they might not be able to resign Russel and made the decision to see what the market would be and play with options that they had. I can understand Russel being not happy about the Seahawks looking at other quarterbacks and thinking about trading him. He had been their guy for 6 years at that point and this was definitely one of the fracture points between him and the team. The interesting wrinkle in the Browns trade is as to why when the dust settled a no trade clause was added. Which side asked for it? Did Mark Rogers or Russ put it in as way so he could hope to stay in Seattle? Or did he want to make sure that if he was traded he would be able to make sure he could go where he wanted. Btw Jesus christ I know I didn't need to write this long of reply. But my brain kinda started going. That whole situation is interesting to theorize some of the things that may have happened behind closed doors.
We will see if it's good... good luck blocking for this guy. He held the ball longer than any qb season after season. Many many many sacks were 100% on him. How many times he ignored the check down to throw the bomb was just selfish. As a seahawks life time fan... I say "bye Felicia"... Denver will either be great or the evidence it's on russ
Last year Mahomes threw 7 interceptions in 4 games and the Chiefs continued to trust him with the ball and let him work through it to return to form as the franchise QB he is. In 2020 Wilson had a stretch of 7 interceptions in 4 games and the Seahawks pulled the plug, declared Let Russ Cook to be a disaster and took the ball out of his hands. This is why Wilson would not stay anymore, he never felt he was respected as the franchise QB.
Yeah, it had NOTHING to do with them having to adjust play calling and schemes to fit Riss's strengths (running and the deep ball) and weaknesses (holding the ball too long and not seeing the entire field). We'll find out exactly where the problems lay in the next couple of seasons. My gut tells me Carroll and John were right to move on.
@@DrewHop325 blah, blah, blah. I'll explain it to you. In that first ten years he had one of the best Defenses in NFL HISTORY. AND Marshawn Lynch. Get bent
That BONE HEADED CALL was made by Pete Carroll and his offensive coordinator, Not QB Russell Wilson for throwing the ball when you should have handed to BEAST MODE.
I blame it on Wilson, too. In that situation if no separation between receiver and DB , throw it away, stop the clock and then hand it to Marshawn on 3rd down. If he doesn’t make it, call last time out and hand it to Marshawn again. I guarantee he would have scored but if he couldn’t then they deserve to lose. @@kendraftman And wouldn't that be what all the Russell simps wanted, him with the ball and the game (a Lombardi) on the line? He failed, plain and simple Russell ended up being James Harden, what'd he deliver? Truth sucks ass don't it?
When Russell got paid that was actually the downfall of the Seahawks after he married Ciara he got too Hollywood it bothered me the most when he said he’s tired of getting hit when he’s a fault for trying to make the highlight reel throw. He got slower and less elusive in the backfield and he wanted a kings ransom to stay in Seattle so I glad he got traded
If you think staying in a QB'S pocket and trying to micro manage HIS PERSONAL CHOICES are right, you're stupid and wrong! This man worked his ass off for 10 years and never publicly made mean or disrespectful comments about any of his teammates. Just continued to believe in himself and his team, year after year. After 10 years, he has every right to seek and say what he wants moving forward, hell John, Carroll and Jody would not give a winning SB QB a seat at the table. His comments fell on deaf ears, they chose to keep Carroll and Russell chose to move on. Russell is not perfect but bringing up his money and who he chooses to procreate with is none of your business. I have been following him since 2012 and and who he was married to then and who he is married to now has made no difference to me because I am a fan of him, the athlete. He is a joy to watch and I pray that he receives many more super bowl rings.
Right….. the he got paid myth. How about PC and JC could draft and refused to sign quality. Always bargain bin hunting and holding on to cap space for no reasons. Seattle failed win PC got too big for his own good. Enjoy the Pete special 7-10
His old age and slowing down, such that he is no longer elusive--and the new gigantic contract--will tear the Broncos apart. To meet the salary cap, the Broncos will have to get rid of top talent, unable to sign them. Then Wilson will bitch that he isn't surrounded by good players, and that he doesn't have an O-line to protect him--the same tired old Wilson song!
@@FTCFootball Pete wants to get back to the 2012 formula! He doesn’t need a $50 million year QB to do that…he needs a great defense and a strong run game, a game manager at QB! We will see how the defense looks with the additions and the new scheme! Penny and Walker should be a strong duo at RB. The rookies a tackle will need some time to gel. This will be a fun season to watch! I think they are retooling, they were not going to win another SB with Wilson at QB
@@freeindeed5393 Only Tom Brady has thrown more TDs in the past 5 seasons than Russ (168-165) and that only happened because of the injury. It's funny how much people take him for granted. Doing all that in Carroll's 1980 styled offense based on a running game. With virtually no real running threat (Carson/Penny injury proned). In a division where 6 of the last 10 SBs have been represented by someone outta the NFC West. All while playing behind a bottom 25 OL. Context is everything, and the lack thereof when it comes to Russ is eye opening to say the least.
this may be true of all greats, but in the end, Wilson is about Wilson and no one else... As many super bowls, pro bowls, and mvp's as he can gather, followed by commentator, coach, actor, politician, president... THAT is what Wilson sees... Why not him, as he would say... And frankly, why NOT him... I wish him the best... except when we face him... Then fumbles sacks and picks is the dream.
Honestly since we are rebuilding this year, I hope we lose against him just so he can have a smooth start to the year 😂, when we finish the rebuild it will be a different story tho
If you believe this crap about russ and coaches. It really goes back 2 story from c. Simms saying hawk's wanted 2 trade russ 4 #1 overall from browns and were 2 take josh allen. The russ camp was butthurt for Schneider going 2 Allen's pro. So they thought russ was declining but were trying 2 dump him then.
Agreed. Plus from what it looked like, carroll wants a game manager qb. All the moves he's made since 2014 have been to maintain the formula to win. But the asterisk with it is that he didnt change or disguise his plays n after awhile, teams had the blueprint on how to beat the seahawks offense & defense. The way they handled the lob's fractured hubris says that carroll isn't the guy to really lead this team to another superbowl. Wilson had every right to want out cause years of cheap offensive lines, poor drafts & too many squandered opportunities made by the fo, I wouldve been fed up as well. And with Carroll's choice for knj for dc, that was poor. His unit could not get pressure & they didnt even try to pick up fa that could've helped the team. ( I wasnt expecting a high level player, but if they showed they really tried to obtain them, I wouldn't be as frustrated ) The point is, both sides screwed up & if wils9n balls out in Denver n the hawks collapse, then all these hawk fans who wanted him out will have buyers remorse.
You know Seahawks only lost that game cause Jeremy lane got hurt and they had too put in a rookie free agent who never played a snap in the nfl as CB 2.
I’ll raise another important point: the LoB gave up a 10-point 4th quarter lead in SB49, which people love to conveniently forget! They never would have been in that SB if not for Russ. They wouldn’t have had a 10-point 4th quarter lead if not for Russ outplaying Brady. They wouldn’t have been in position to win the game at the end of not for Russ’s usual late-game magic. So miss me with the “Russ derailed the team with that interception” narrative. They were never on the rails until Russ got drafted and started showing those overrated bozos (the LoB) and marginal talents (Baldwin, Kearse, Tate, et al.) how to win! Russ and his dual-threat abilities even made Beast Mode a better RB than he would have become by drawing defenses away from the box, which opened up the Line of scrimmage for Beast Mode, despite the O-Line’s average-at-best blocking during the early years. Max Unger, Zach Miller and the crew were decent but nothing special. Russ never had the protection he deserved, and it not hit progressively worse as Pete irresponsibly wasted draft picks.
Great video. I’m a Seahawks fan that was 1000% pro Let Russ Cook and Fire Pete. I was livid when the trade news broke. But at the same time, I felt a great sense of relief wash over me. No more drama, trade rumors, etc. As little as I believe in Pete and John, I’m trying to be optimistic following what I thought was a great draft. Only time will tell. Go Hawks!
That's the problem how did he earn to run the team? No you're a quarterback just work Do what you do he wanted input on the offense but yet he hasn't been any good in the offense in years. He wanted all the money look at what happened as soon as he left We scored two of the best rookie offensive tackles in the draft and they're both pro bowl potentials. We scored one of the best running backs and two of the best cornerbacks with great upsides. We got so much after Russell left You know thank you for the super bowl but I mean you lost us the second one and haven't won us anything close since. It was time for Russell to go Russell was awesome and then he became all about his status and his social media and his money which is okay but I think he was a little bit delusional on how good he actually is in accordance to how good the teams were around him when he was winning. I mean he did win a super bowl underneath the legion of boom but is that saying a lot to his credit?

@@FTCFootball another reason for the failure was the lack of a good run game, I do think Russ had the better take on the run game then Pete because russ wanted a quick tempo shotgun scheme that would allow for a lot of shotgun snap zone running, which is good for a lackluster offensive line, but Pete insisted that the only way to get it going was like back in the good old days with lots of undercenter stuff, now that the team has drafted some lineman, Pete's scheme should work well again Imo
I can only imagine how awkward things got on "Tell the Truth Tuesdays." When you as a QB turn the ball over 10 times in three games, and then approach the coaching staff to gain more control over scheme and calling plays, which is essentially pushing all the blame for his poor play onto them, that may have been the last straw from the Seahawks perspective. RW is great at many things, but he is below average when it comes to accountability. And you just can't have that in your Franchise QB, especially in a culture and locker room that preaches accountability. I think it was a very amicable breakup, although very passive aggressive on both sides. Both went their separate ways, and I wish nothing but the best to both parties. Great Video!
Sounds like you were there? Please be accountable to the truth you saw. If u weren't there please be accountable to the fact that you're putting forth second hand nonsense from losers without the courage to talk to Pete or Russ.
How much more “accountability” do you want from your franchise QB than his never missing a single game for 9.33 seasons and spending 7 years eating a bowl of sh*t for a Super Bowl pass that wasn’t even his fault? Russ stayed silent for t was as while Pete unilaterally wasted most of Russ’s probe trying to recreate a lab accident (i.e., the LoB). Pete can’t coach! He only knows one system and he can’t adjust to his players. His record without Russ as his QB is an abysmal 48-52. Russell handled it well. Always said positive things in public, and kept his frustrations in house. He just couldn't take it anymore. Being traded to Denver was good for him.
Agreed. So many people hate on him. I understand some of the off-the-field criticism (re: his canned answers, corniness, overuse of social media, et al.), but that man is the consummate pro on the field and in the locker-room. He has always been underrated as a QB, and Pete Carroll did nothing for him but hurt his career. I mean that literally. If not for Pete’s stubborn adherence to an outdated philosophy, Russ would be widely considered to be the top QB in the league.
Russ and his people were the ones leaking his displeasure which is the opposite of “keeping it in house”! Russ was two faced as well talking about how much he loved Shotty in public while pushing him out behind closed doors. He also was VERY polarizing in the locker room. Early on it was being protected by Pete from the Alpha dogs on our defense that tries treating Russ like everyone else in the building and later because of Russ’s constant talk about “my legacy” ! Then the man publically calls out his O Line while barely acknowledging how much his own play contributed to the hits and sacks he was taking. I appreciate what Russ did for this town and respect him a a very good, perhaps great QB but he brought a lot of his woes on himself and I am not sorry to see him go
@@DeCurtaRican LOL, Pete helped make Russ! And just because people like to see basketball scores at football games…including the powers that be in the league office who have done everything in their power to hinder defenses doesn’t mean that Pete’s style doesn’t win. BUT it has also ALWAYS included a liberal amount of splash plays and risk taking. It’s the media narrative that Pete is all about the run game. Pete likes balance. DK prolly won’t be too patient, cuz why would he waste his best years with a poverty team? We prolly only have 1-2 years of rebuild before it’s time to really start to win again, or else we’ll be going in an era of misery
That entire LET RUSSELL COOK season went from being almost unstoppable for half the season and then to they cant do anything right for the rest of the season because the other teams were figuring out how to stop them and the OC didnt adapt accordingly. Also RW for years has been trying to get the team built around his skill sets. The Seahawks tried to accommodate with RW but it just wasn't working and was the polar opposite of CCs philosophy. As far as the sacks are concerned yes RW had every right to be pissed about the OL. He begged CC/JS to fix the OL for 5 years but they put the bare minimum effort to grant his requests/demands. And in doing so they put RWs career in jeopardy each and every snap of the ball. I personally believe they did that on purpose to try to get rid of RW and get him to want to sign with another team. I believe this because this off season we sign a handful of new OL players and then they draft 2 OL that are the top 2 pass protection OL in this most recent NFL draft. I'm sure people would disagree with me but CC/JS have never put so much effort and draft picks to fix the OL in 1 off season. And it just so happens its the same season the best QB in Seahawks history signs with another team?
The number one reason why everything fell apart at the last half of our season is because Russell came back too soon. He's such an egomaniac he wouldn't let his hand heal. I'm a lady Hawk and I love my boys in blue and green but I'm with Pete on that one. I didn't recognize that team. I'm glad to hear that Russell's gone! it's time for him to go play with another team and maybe have a better chance of getting some protection. But it still left a broken heart here in Seattle and THEN... they let Wagner go like they did with no warning shots fired whatsoever ??? That was another shot to the 12's (Seahawk fans). God I hope this next year is better than last. I've wondered what Tyler Lockett and DJ Metcalf think about this new team! GO SEAHAWKS!!
Great insight! Russ is all about Russ! He doesn’t take criticism well. He stunk it up last year and possibly by design! We will see how he does in Denver…
Russ was always threatening to leave if he wasn't going to be the most paid player, putting teams of interests, dissing his O-line, always saying he needs help, always putting all these frustration out there to the public. The hawks did everything for him, even got rid of all the players who didn't like him, they paid him what he wanted and they change their system for him. He was more of a issue then the hawks was. I don't how you're going to get a better o-line when you take up the majority of the salary cap. He's been a issue these last several seasons playing victim.
If the Seahawks wanted to keep Wilson, they could have. After his present contract expired, they could have franchised him. Hopefully, Geno will realize the pressure of being a starter is just too much for him, and he will put his butt back on the bench and let Drew Lock have his rightful job. Lock has the tools to develop into a very good QB, given the chance. Geno has had years to become compete to be a starter, had he signed with another team, but he never had any ambition, no drive at all; thus, he isn't suddenly going to be aPat Mahomes, or even Sam Darnold...or Jared Goff.

In hindsight Wilson was the problem
Its interesting that very few if any Seahawk player has had a better career after leaving the team.
I predict the same for Russell.
I predict the opposite. The reason for them not having a better career is 1. Wilson was a big reason for the success. Lynch went from Wilson to Carr and you see the result. Paul Richardson same. The other guys that left were near the end of their careers while Wilson is still in his prime.
ARod did. Oops, I guess he played baseball. I think you are right then. However Wilson could, but how to measure that?

Not to mention the Superbowl they lost because Pete Carroll made the dumbest idiotic play call in NFL history.

So we Seahawk fans are not exactly mad to see him go
Well, Russ is not Seattle's problem anymore so let's see how DK looks without him
First off he didn’t really start cooking until 2020 and that’s when the catch phrase “let russ cook” and you saw his stats the first 7 games, dude was on record to be MVP and much more, then week 8 everything fell apart, we can blame RW3 for that sure, but we can also blame the coaching staff and the defense.

Thanks so much for the kind words.

And just because people like to see basketball scores at football games…including the powers that be in the league office who have done everything in their power to hinder defenses doesn’t mean that Pete’s style doesn’t win. It starts with great defense and controlling the clock with a potent running game with an emphasis on holding on to the ball on O and taking it away on D.. BUT it has also ALWAYS included a liberal amount of splash plays and risk taking. It’s the media narrative that Pete is all about the run game. Pete likes balance. Balance gives you the best chance to win…especially on Dec/Jan when good defenses can take away your strength and you need to find a way.
@@particleinthewave8378 Yep... When Russ and the Hawks were at their best is when Russ played within the system instead of trying to be the system.
The pressure is on for him in Denver and I don't think Denver is a better team than the Hawks. They certainly get the QB edge now but talent per talent around him? I am not sold on that.
Thank you Russ for all the hard work and
Leadership you braught to this team will be missed. Yes Seattle will not be good this year , but they will get their franchise qb in next year draft. Mark my words.

Seattle's doing better then the broncos right now

i think it’s a semi-rebuild now for us Hawks, we’re going young with a promising defense butt still have vets like Lockett, who still have gas in the tank.
Seattle was in the wrong and now they're gonna be a bottom team. Pete got what he wanted!!!! Drew lock 😂😂😂.

Great insight! Russ is all about Russ! He doesn’t take criticism well. He stunk it up last year and possibly by design! We will see how he does in Denver…
Great content, bro.
Appreciate it!
I think it would have been interesting to see Jody choose to keep Wilson and dump Carroll. We will never know, but if there was ever a case for it, I think this one may have worked out.
Jody probably had no real say. She trusts front office and is very hands off.
@@brianmyers4444 probably not. And it doesn't even seem like a good idea. But I will always wonder what if
@@brianshissler3263 it could have worked if we had some really good drafts and free agencies
@@jugan170 Wilson has his shit together. I think he is mentally capable of playing qb at a high level and making personnel descisions (if anyone ever could its him) But maybe he will coach after his career? I think he would be an excellent coach or GM someday.
