    Great video. I don't have the space or facility to work on my 2001 ZX6R/ZZR600, but this sure explains what my problem most likely is. I can only imagine what my fuel filter and fuel pump look like. You should do more videos on the ZX6R. There's a lot of us who own them, and according to the posts I see on RUclips, they all have fuel/ idle/ stalling issues. Keep up the good work. You explain everything clearly and your camera work is superb.

      thanks mate, most welcome. unfortunately it doesnt get ridden as often as it should let alone worked on.

      Well, my bike sat for quite awhile, hence the issues. It ran perfect the last time I rode it. Lesson learned. I've installed a new battery, Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner and fresh 93 octane gas, but it dies when I try to take off in 1st gear. It's as if I hit the kill switch when I let out the clutch. I'd say it is a clogged/ dirty fuel line/ filter, etc. Love your canine assistant, beautiful dog.

    Hi mate, I just came across this video! Was on track with my '05 636C (first time it was used since a couple months) and it didnt go beyond 10k RPM, felt like it wanted to but couldnt. That limit always moved a bit on that day (sometimes 12k, sometimes 9k RPM) so I assume it must be the pump? Sparks have been replaced already, filter is clean. In idle she runs fine and up until limiter. My assumption is that when the engine needs to do heavy work and not just idle without a gear it would require more fuel and thus not accelerate anymore. What do you think? Do you recommend just cleaning or getting a replacment (used) pump?

    I was really hoping this was my problem but turns out my filter looks pretty clean

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  4 года назад +2

      thats a bugger. how was the bottom of the 'bowl' where the filter sits ? was that clean too ? you can get stuff down in there which can get sucked up against the filter and stop the fuel flow. worth checking while you're in there

    Thanks for the video. I have the same high speed issues on my gen1 Zx10r so I’ll definitely do this cleaning. Recently my low fuel light stays on regardless of full tank, does anyone know if this is a related or separate issue? Thanks

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  5 лет назад +2

      no probs mate. I reckon the fuel light is probably related to the same thing.
      Mine always stayed on after I did the clean. there is a sensor you will see attached to the fuel filter which has some wires going to it.
      My mechanic said they're known for getting crap in them and just staying on. He said to try blowing it out with air but this didn't work for me, so it always stays on now.

    Thanks for the vid. Would recommend for others to wear gloves though while handling gasoline.

      @DENMONKEY  4 года назад +3

      you're right. Im good with ear and eye protection but never wear gloves. probably something I should pay more attention to. Certainly help with clean up and stop the mess in the sink when I'm done and go for clean up

    Did the fuel pump being clogged like that make the engine bog down at high speeds?

    • @DENMONKEY
      @DENMONKEY  5 лет назад +5

      yes mate, it most certainly did. It was like hitting a brick wall.
      It would not always happen but would do it most time.
