Most people over 60 are unable to to drink mixed drinks as they are at this age diabetes I really miss margaritas I'm 73 My grandchildren and my bourbons whiskey s are my delight neat present 🎁
The Old Forester 100 Signature Edition is priced at $37.99 for a 1L and the 1897 BIB is $54.99 for a .750ml and seeing as how Old Fashions & Manhattan's amongst other things happen to be what I want it for, not to drink neat its perfect for my needs. I may have to give that maple old fashion a try. I dont make my drinks right in the rocks glass I use a Cocktail Mixing Glass then use a Cocktail Strainer to pour it into the rocks glass with the 2" cube or ice orb already in the glass....no mess! I also have a 1L Old Forester 86 and its quite good IMO. Great review 🥃Cheers!
Its my new go to..over WT 101..and the price point I choose it today over OGD 114...instead of paying $20 more for Rare Breed or $40 more for 1920 I choose 100...its totally crushable and tasty
Thanks, at the end you clarified something in my tasting that surprisingly has been evading me. The ability to choose to ignore a typical bourbon because there are 100 of them. I want to focus on the ones that present themselves in some sort of favorable and preferable way.
Not sure how I missed this vid a year ago. I like the format! What brand is your ice cube tray? I hate to disagree, but Old Forester 100 is one of my favorites. To me it’s really rich and dark compared to anything at a similar proof and especially price. Lastly, Iron Fish Distillery in lower Michigan has a recipe on their website for a salted maple old fashioned. One of my favorite winter cocktails.
Put off buying OF100 for so long, since I'd always buy a handle of WT101. I love OF 1920 so finally said what the heck may as well try it. It's now my go to affordable bourbon. Loved the taste. Lesson learned when in doubt taste it your self, ya never know if you're gonna like it. Gonna give the Knob Creek 100 a go next since I love the single barrel.
Really enjoyed the video Bill! It would be nice if you could try other cocktails in future videos, and nice that you mentioned Greg :P What other 100 proof would you recommend over the Old Forester ?
I’m a “heavy on the bitters” man myself. Also I know less of Demerara sugar and more of turbinado sugar. I use turbinado for all my simple syrups and for baking.
Hey, that's about my old fashioned spec (except your bitters dashes were super wimpy). Also, seems I like OF100 on its own a little more than you, but it is on my shelf for cocktails primarily.

Thanks for your work lovely
OF 100 is excellent for the price point & beats some pricier options.
It's a great girl
I love it's all characters
Maple syrup and walnut bitters is my go-to old fashion.
Sounds tasty
Your knowledge is very important I'm impressed that you're knowledgeable about spirits I must say though this is my favorite whiskey
So delicious my favorite

Man, it's 9 am and you're making me want a cocktail
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary I work rotating swing shift, when Im getting off 12-8 it is 🥃

Great video. Really enjoyed this. Thanks 🥃
You can use a match to light the orange oils as you express them. It's cool to see and creates different flavors.
I was gonna do that actually. Did it for my kids before hand but didn't wanna do it on the episode

Another great video Bill-Thanks for that 🥃

I’ll check that one out! I’m actually not sure the brand as I’ve recently thrown them away and can’t find them again!
I really enjoyed this video, Bill. Great info, with a “twist”. 😂 Also like that you went back to your previous set staging as well. Cheers!
It was good to switch it up
I like bitters, but I also like orange bitters. really good.
I like to use orange bitters too. Also Old Grand Dad BIB has orange 🍊 taste notes in the Bourbon. Excellent on a hot day.

I like it straight and no ice. Great review
Get the 1920. It's incredible.
I'm watching this whilst cooking and drinking whisky... Great companion. And hey if the meal doesn't turn out great then I font really care.
How about Wild Turkey 101? I kinda like the taste.
I'm a huge fan
Wow. I see OF100 at sub-$25 every day in/near Chicago. Great value at that price.
@Antson Logge More for me! Cheers!
The 86 is $20 in my area and the 100 is $25. Both a great value at that price point.
I made a OF with maple syrup and Canadian Club... a Canadian old fashioned. I usually like my OF with wild turkey 101 and lots of bitters
Really enjoyed the video Bill! It would be nice if you could try other cocktails in future videos, and nice that you mentioned Greg :P What other 100 proof would you recommend over the Old Forester ?
I like doing the cocktails and I think ill do it more in the future.
As for over 100 proof bourbons... id have to think about that one
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary cool! I know I’ve seen Evan Williams Bottled in Bond recommended many times
I personally haven't had it (shocking, I know). But I also hear good things
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary You should get it and review it on the channel! ;-)
I should
IMO Knob Creek is a better 100 proof bourbon
I buy it at total wine in MA for $25! But still prefer WT101 at that price point
Maybe it was cheaper than I remember... I looked on totalwine.com and it ca.e up as $30. Oh well

That maple syrup jug is a heck of a lot more than 8 fluid ounces, Bill! My boss would have jumped at an offer of that sort.😏
Great episode by the way.
I liked that old forester 100 a lot more when it was $23. Now it's $29 and I'd rather have knob creek
Hey, that's about my old fashioned spec (except your bitters dashes were super wimpy).

That poor, innocent knife... what did it ever do to you to deserve that maltreatment? Dulling that edge on the glass.
The backside was hitting the glass. Look how I was holding it. I knew I'd get crap if I mistreated a knife :)
