I think the first time I ever saw Melty Blood was when it was played at an EVO tournament (I think 2010?). It didn't leave much of an impression, I just remember one of the characters being this normal looking girl with red hair who wears jeans.
For some reason I also thought Melty Blood was a PS2 game first, but it actually started out as a bunch of visual novels for the PC, under different names, then a PC fighter came along later. From what I've read several expansions were released, and this Current Code game is the latest version. Current Code seems to be arcade and PC only, I'm a little surprised it hasn't been released for anything else though.
Anyway, I had a major problem with this one: for fighting games on the PC, I usually use my Madcatz SF X Tekken fight pad. But the thing wouldn't work with this game at all. Then I tried my wired 360 controller (one of the worst things to play a 2D fighter with, I'll admit) but that didn't work either. So I ended up trying my PS2 controller via an adapter and that did work...in the sense that you're still playing a 2D fighter with a PS2 controller, which is a terrible choice. The buttons were fine but getting even basic quarter circle moves to come out consistently proved to be a massive issue, which is why you'll often see Sion doing standing medium attacks at full screen (I was trying to use her gun move).
If you're here to watch me cry about this boss, this paragraph is for you. This game only has one boss, which is good because she's a tough one. Dust of Osiris is protected by this massive thing called Hermes, my only advice is to get in a point blank range and attack as much as possible, but Osiris has this move which will send you flying across the screen if it hits, and Hermes can smack you around pretty easily as well.
I do like the look of this game but due to the controller issues I'd experienced, I can't recommend it right now.
*Fact:* Like the King Of Fighters, half of the game's roster has characters taken from other TYPE-MOON works in case you didn't know. Specifically most from *Tsukihime (eroge visual novel)* and one from *Kara No Kyoukai (light novel).*
Actually said normal looking red haired girl in jeans is a huge favourite with me and my buds at Discord. Mostly because her voice is hilariously hammy and she's the most normally dressed character you'd get in a fighting game
