  • So I covered Into the Unknown from Frozen (Minor key) originally by @mylifeisayolk as Elsa’s villain song and the story I’ve written around it is kinda sad… soz
So when I first heard this song it sounded to me like a very mournful piece, almost like something was about to happen that she didn’t want, but was inevitable. A mournful acceptance of something really awful on the way. So in my mind it was like Anna was no longer there and Elsa has been left alone. Taken over by grief and anger she hears the call of her powers telling her to freeze everything, get rid of everyone and start again. She doesn’t want to do it and doesn’t want to let her powers get the better of her but without Anna around to help she knows there’s no point trying to control them. They’ll get the better of her eventually. Making this really a V sad transfer song from her being a victim to becoming a villain but also still being a victim… if you get me.
It’s proper sad but I hope you enjoy it! Tune in next week for another princess turned villain - a little less sad a little more badass promise
I’d HIGHLY encourage you to go listen to the original below. Egg created this version of the song and features as the disembodied voice that calls to Elsa in my cover!

I’d like to think it’s still her mother and maybe even anna since if she died you could defo add her and just have two voices calling her into the woods and then she goes to the woods goes through attholan (how tf do you spell it) yadayada and finds the place with her mom (again maybe anna if she’s dead too) and we have the big transition to white dress moment and is finally able to come to terms with anna’s death and finds her purpose (ruling both the forest and the kingdom for her sister i suppose)
I feel like that’d be a beautiful story about grief it’s basically the next right thing but make it the center point of the movie but elsa’s the one grieving

While listening to this I though the voice would be "Anna", but its actually an allucination of Elsa because she was never able to get over Anna's death, so when she says "Where are you going? Don't leave me alone" She is seeing how "Anna" is going away, when she says "How do I follow you Into the unknown" I see her getting near a risk, and deciding to jump so she could join her sister.

I though the same thing, but as an extra I think after Anna's death she keeps the eternal winter out of her deep sadness and anger, and as the "movie" goes on she goes crazy with these hallucinations of her sister as everyone tries to stop her so the winter ends.
In the end, when she finds herself surrounded on the edge of a cliff by enemies, or worse, someone who was trying to save her just like Anna did, she looks down and decides to join her dear little sister.
After listening the song I read the discription and saw Lydia's point of view when she create this version, which is intersting because It follows the line of Frozen II, but I prefer mine because it's more tragic and in a way it makes a lot more sense to me to do that, because when she loses Anna her powers are going to be extremely out of control due to her unstable emotions that we saw in the first movie, and people trying to fight her, calling her a monster and leaving her alone physically and emotionally would make everything much more unstable, resulting in her going mad, her hallucinations and her future suicide.
But this is what I think, what do you think about my point?

@@Launi- I like the idea of her not dying after the jump but that she is injured and meets a boy who is as cold as her and helps her up, an unintentionally side affect of her winter being two cursed ice shards that ended up in this boy and caused him to feel lonely and push himself away from his best friend. This gives Elsa a companion and someone to fight for however that person is cursed by her own magic, and that curse is the only reason they are similar, that boys friends is also where Elsa gets the name"the snow queen". You can probably guess the boy's name.

      Nah. Crossing the Line.
Nothing Left to Lose is Cass's final desperate plead to remain on her dark path. It's her song of fear, of doubt. She HAS to follow this path still, because she thinks she doesn't have anything left.
This song, as well as Crossing the Line for Cass, is the START of the villain arc. This is the acceptance. The beginning of their descent. Yes, they have different sounds, but the mood and purpose is the same: this is a character who has been driven to the extreme by those around them, their actions or inactions. Nothing they do in their attempts to be a hero has ever gained them what they truly desire, and now, one last peice of information (Anna's death/Cass' true parentage) have pushed them so far beyond the point they can stand. If they can't be a hero and get what they want
Then they'll be a villain, and take it by force.

I kind of imagine this as the darker AU of the first movie.
Elsa's parents took the trolls' warnings more seriously, and to spare Anna and their people, they go further to isolate Elsa. They take her and leave her alone in a palace by herself far from home on the highest of the mountains, mournful but unable to not fear her and her power despite their love. They make sure she is taken care of, food is delivered and all, but she never sees other people though she wakes to gifts each year on her birthday.
As time goes on, Elsa grows used to the solitude and accepts her new home, grief and fury long faded. She creates living snowmen for to fill her palace with servants, her only company and "family" that she loves, and as she grows older, her memories grow fainter until she barely remembers her family's faces. All she really remembers is that she once hurt someone she really cared about and believes that she is too dangerous to be around others, so she never ventures out. She is pale, quiet, and withdrawn, more ghost than girl.
Her powers continue to grow unchecked, turning the palace icy, covering the mountain in snow, and creating a fierce endless blizzard.
One day, Elsa starts hearing a voice calling for her, but she ignores it, thinking part of it is her going further mad but also that it may be some trap that seeks to lure her out and unleash her evil on the rest of the world. She resists it for weeks and months until it grows so constant and tempting that, for the first time in years, she leaves the palace's walls, finally venturing into the unknown, a world beyond the one she has known most of her life.
Every step, she considers turning back, her last "adventure" having ended in near tradegy, but the voice seems to be louder and growing closer. Abruptly, it cuts off, and all she sees is snow and ice everywhere. Just as she is about to turn back, she sees a figure in the snow, unmoving, hair splayed out around its head, the most vibrant hue Elsa's seen in years, vivid against the endless white. It almost painful, this fiery red, but also, it's so very bright... and familiar. A remnant of a forgotten dream.
Crown Princess Anna had been leading a band of men on a quest to find her missing parents, the King and Queen, who had vanished months ago during one of their annual ventures into the mountains, leaving her fiance to watch over the kingdom as regent in her stead. She got separated from the party during an avalanche, and her mount had been too injured, forcing her to leave it behind. She continued on on foot, looking for shelter in the blizzard. Through the whipping snow, she swore she could sometimes see a palace in the distance though she had heard of none in the mountains. Eventually, in pursuit of this mirage, the cold overcame her, and she collapsed, weakened.
She awakes in a well furnished room. It is chilly, and she realizes the floor is iced over when it burns her feet. She puts on the warm boots and furs left out for her. Venturing out, she is startled to see snowmen walking around, acting as servants and guards. They can talk too. Once she calms down, she is lead to a large hall with a long banquet table covered in food with only one ornate chair, almost a throne. After some hesitation, she sits in it to eat.
Over the days, Anna finds herself stranded in this strange icy palace, unable to leave due to the increasingly perilous blizzard. She is uncertain of her mens' and parents' fates. All of her needs are met, and she is free to explore though there are parts of the palace she is barred from. Sometimes, she swears someone is watching her, but she can catch no more than a fleeting shadow in the corner of her eyes.
From the snowmen's whispers and her half answered questions, Anna learns of the palace's sole monarch, the Ice Queen. She seeks out an audience with her to thank her and beg aid of her magical snowmen to help her out of the mountains or to find her parents and people, unwilling to believe they were truly lost. Yet, she is denied all petition and access. Eventually, one snowman she had bonded with, Olaf, a bit goofier and friendlier than the other snowmen and familiar looking for some reason, offers to help her meet the Queen.
With his help, Anna gets by the guards and makes her way through the halls she had never been able to explore before. It's darker, and the ice is thicker. Shivers wrack her frame, the cold stabbing her through her insulated clothing. Her breath fogs, the moisture in her lungs almost crytalizing. Still, she pushed on.
Some doors are frozen over completely, unable to be opened. Others empty or trashed, the debris long since covered in ice. The throne room is deserted, the royal seat, spiked with razor sharp spires, empty.
There is a library, the books packed and frozen in the shelves. Half the room is wrecked. The fireplace is without fire, the wood in it covered in frost. She notices something odd, an object that seemed like it had been thrown in to burn but had been frozen over before the long expired fire could finish it off.
The pointed edge looks like the upright corner of a wooden frame, its intricately carved design filled in with delicate, glittering frost. The painting it contained was an iced canvas, the image obscured by the layers of ice crystals that fastened its partially burnt lower quarter to the logs.
Curiosity overcomes Anna, and she tries to carefully scratch away the frost, trying not to shatter the whole thing. She chips away at it with her dagger. An eye is revealed then a nose than a reserved smile under a sandy mustache, and her hand stills for a moment before frantically scraping away, the paint chipped, flaked, and damaged but not enough to disguise features she almost knew better than her own, her shaking hands revealing the countenance of her father. It takes her mere minutes to unearth her mother's face. Memories prod her attention, vague recollections of this portrait that had perhaps... maybe once hung in her home.
There is a sharp pang in her chest, and she drags a hand down nearer to the damaged ends of the portrait, unwilling to waste time uncovering the whole portrait when some distant pull tells her something more important was further down. It took revealing only half of her own childish face, most of it spared from the flames that had eaten up her dress, to see that, unlike her parents, she peered not forward but up at something near her height, a smile too broad for the formal sitting on her face.
Anna carefully ran the blade just above the charred borders, a desperation urging her to find some remnant that escaped the hungry fire of whatever could make her smile like that.
A glimpse of pale bangs, an arched brow, a wide blue eye, button nose, and just the very curling corner of a smile. Anna's fingers brush over it.
From near imperceptible memories, before she lost her grasp of them entirely, she plucks one single word free, untethered and fraying, unravelling as she tried to recall it. She knew it and knew it not, balanced on the tip of her tongue. It was meaningless, but so important, calling forth the fleeting afterimage of a face obscured and a deep agonizing grief that came and went so fast, it throbbed like a wound prodded before it was fully healed.
The door of library slams open, and Anna startles, tripping and falling back into the fireplace, her body snapping the frame and puncturing the portrait. She hits her head.
"What are you doing in here?" snaps a cool, biting voice, reminiscent of the blizzard she hadn't been able to truly forget the terrifying chill of.
A pale woman with a snow white braid and dress the color of a frozen over lake stands in the doorway, her pale blue eyes shards of ice, cold and piercing. The temperature of the room plummets, fractals of creeping ice spreading from her bare feet.
Anna wraps her arms around herself, shaking from the cold or fear (or both).
This must be the Ice Queen, and shiver went down Anna's spine. Her fragile hope began to crack a little, bit by bit.
(The call is probably the spirit of their dead mom who died while she and their father were making their annual trip to check on Elsa (even though she never saw them). Her spirit couldn't move on until she reunited the two sisters and fixed the bond she and her husband broke out of fear. She was the one to lead Elsa to find Anna before she died in the blizzard like they did, and she will help Anna recover the memories of her sister the trolls had erased, help give Elsa the courage to leave the mountain, and help the two sisters learn to trust each other and team up go fight back against Hans when tries to take over the kingdom and get rid of both sisters, Elsa learning to control her powers once the chill of loneliness is beaten back by Anna's cheerfulness and love and she learns to healthily express rather than supress her emotions behind a icy facade.
The ice palace is meant to represent the fortress she built around herself, cold and sharp and intimidating to keep others away, but the blizzard is her emotions out of control and untamed because she never really learned to handle them.
The risk of going into the unknown is leaving a prison that she could still control and shape. The world out there is new, unfamiliar, and chaotic and has monsters greater than her but also more warmth than she's known in years.
More plot and details floating around in my head, but those are the main bits.)

My dad went out to pick up her medicine from the pharmacy, and I went on RUclips to find a song to calm her down. This popped up because I had been watching it earlier that day, and I played it about 3 times and she loved it, it actually calmed her down and helped her regulate her breathing. this doesn't sound like a villain song, it sounds more like she's at the end of her depression and is about to give up and end her life, but at the "are you out there?! do you know me?! can you show me?!" it sounds more like one last hope for someone to save her from herself, before realizing that no one is coming to save her because she's an orphan who lost the only family member she had left. it's a more painful song than an evil intentions song. LOVE IT!!

It's dark. Really dark. But, I don't hear a villain. I hear pain and grief and thoughts of a self-harming or self-terminating nature. It's definitely sad and a bit frightening. A potentially delusional and self-destructive villain could be terrifying.
    This is so good.

I love this. It really gives the vibe of Elsa being all broken by Ana's death. And the way she tries to pursue her spirit / soul even though she's already dead. It's like she's expressing her frustration, loneliness and grief while singing it all away.
The scenario I'd imagine for this would be her sitting with her legs to a side, looking intensely to the snow that's beneath her, all fluffy and cold, just like she might feel. Fluffy, like a squishy toy that a kid would hug in order to feel accompanied, or simply loved and cared for, while also being cold to the core, 'cause her sister's death has left her life, making her feel like it's all nonsense and it's worthless to keep on going.
I believe that for Elsa, Ana was her everything. It was her inspiration, support, positivity, joy... And once she's gone... Olaf doesn't give warm hugs anymore, Cristoph and Sven no longer smile, and Arendelle has lost its bright spark.
Really really cool cover. Please, keep going. It's truly awesome.

    Wow, this is powerful!!
With the lyrics, it absolutely sounds like Elsa accidentally killed Anna with her powers, and now in her grief, is hallucinating the voice of Death telling her to commit suicide. And she ends up following the voice by the end, since she thinks she’s a monster and doesn’t want to hurt anyone else. The “Everyone i’ve ever loved is here within these walls” is actually her repeating back what the voice told her, since Anna and her parents are all dead and the voice is telling her to join them.
    So good, but dark!

Imagine the video being a cruel mimic of "Do you want to build a snowman?" where Elsa is follow the echoes of Anna around every bend, thinking she's following Anna's voice. "Every one I ever loved is within these walls"-- she can't mean her, she hates herself. She's talking about the memories of Anna. Although she has so few of them, it's driving her insane. It's just same few memories on repeat. Still she tries to freeze the memories, so that those days when Anna was alive wouldn't disappear. Until finally, at the end of the song, the voice leads her to where Anna's statue is. "How do I follow you into the unknown~?" She commits suic*de, her final stand at the feet of the only person who loved her.

Oh, how she longs for freedom from this winter.... longs for Anna back in her life, so that she'd have a second chance to reconcile.... but with every thought of longing and desire, the cursed winter outside of the castle doors only grows stronger, and spreads faster. Elsa is totally and utterly.... alone.

Your interpretation of this sorrowful version Into the Unknown puts a whole new meaning to the call within Elsa and the lines “everyone I’ve ever loved is here within these walls”. That last one could mean something like a graveyard where Anna lies. The ending lines like “where are you going, don’t leave me alone,” could mean Anna leaving her and she still mourns her sister’s death.
