Having cruised up the River Chet to Loddon/Chedgrave a few times, many years ago, I remember a few tense moments meeting boats coming the other way, it was quite a tight pass in places. In those times, most hirecraft had quite a low airdraft and you wouldn't see them coming above the reeds, until they were right on top of you. I can't imagine what it's like passing one of those big 'sea going' cruisers on a tight bend...
I don't know if my memory is playing tricks, but the 'spit of land' between the River Chet and the Hardley Flood seems a lot smaller less than I remember.
As has been said, It's sad fo see an old boatyard and it's boats, looking so delapidated. I hope it doesn't end up like many others, with houses being built on it and another boatyard lost forever.
Pyes Mill moorings looked as lovely as ever, with a nice walk into Loddon, via a footpath through 'Holy Trinity' church.
Altogether, a lovely trip from Reedham to Loddon, you're very lucky. A big 'Thank you' to Sarah and Ben and You, for taking us all along too... 🙂

Oh Andy, what a fabulous message, thank you. I’m sure they’ll spot this eventually but they’re way down in Suffolk now. Having a fantastic time I’m sure.
It is sad to see the boat yards like that and the old wooden hire fleet up on the bank. This is why I need to do more of these types of videos, it seems to bring back so many memories for people. I’ve had such lovely messages about the 3 boat trips I’ve recently done. I’m discovering a whole new world I’ve never seen before, it’s above and beyond my wildest dreams.
I’m not sure about that strip
Of land as that’s the first time I’ve seen it. I do fancy investigating that bird hide one day though. The walk way has collapsed in places so I won’t be going yet.

My pleasure (aka Sarah, you are right very tight bends , I wouldn't dream of doing it unless I had my trusty bow and stern thrusters, lol 😆which frankly will get you out of most tight spots !

There are some stunning properties everywhere lately it would seem. Think they’ve realised it’s prime location finally. In the rural spots anyway. Wroxham has beautiful ones, as does Horning.

You have an incredibly soothing voice. You need to do a story telling channel lol.
My wife and I have been past the sugar refinery more times than I care to mention.
I hated the smell of it but my wife always said it smelt like candy floss.

Another wonderful cruise and a change being on the south rivers, some great memories there. We have used Pacific Cruisers at Loddon 3 times and they are an excellent yard to hire from. Thank you....John

Lovely film, For many years from 1979 -2014 ihired from Maffett cruisers in Loddon, plus, my first ever boating holiday was as an 11 year old on a brand new Aston Orion from the boatyard on the south banl at the head of the river. It was magical, and i`ve been back most years since, several times a year these days. The old Aston yard is now in a real state, it was absolutely immaculate when we hired from there, unlike now, i bet the former owners must feel so hurt that the current owners have left it looking like a shanty town.

We as a family hired from Aston too! I was to young to recall what boat it was but they were my first memories of the broads. Haven’t been to Loddon in a long time, going to change that this year. Shame it’s not in all it’s glory the boatyard :(
