no but this is literally so smart! just talked with my boyfriend about it and he agrees that this is freaking genius, to have a secret wedding day and get that stress out of the way ahead of time! thank you for this idea, syd!
My fiancé and I just did this, also for legal reasons! Our “real wedding” is next summer but we just got legally married a couple weeks ago. Just our parents were there. We did it for insurance purposes, and it makes buying a house easier.
My husband and I did the same thing. We got legally married on January 31st of 2024. We won't have our wedding until September 1st 2024. We will only have a wedding party not a ceremony. After the wedding party there will be a wedding pool party. Our wedding is going to be small. Also we will have a Nepali wedding because he is from Nepal. Lucky for me I don't have to plan it.
Haven’t even watched yet, but have been here a long time & I am glad you did this without posting bc I’m sure the hate and feedback from sooo many places online could be a huge burden in a time that should be full of joy & centered on you two as a couple!! ❤
Years ago in the 1950’s my mum & dad did elope. I thought it was great to find out. But, her mum didn’t like it. They did not have another wedding ceremony.
From a Christian perspective I think it’s important to have a pastor merry you. Other than that nothing really makes a difference. I think like you said it’s whatever you and your spouse want to do. I think if we would have eloped my parents would have flipped their lids. I’m happy yours were cool!

I’ve always wanted to do this, but my parents are very traditional Christian and I wouldn’t be able to live with my Husband unless I told them. 😢
Bad life choice after bad life choice

My mum & dad did elope & her mum flipped her lid, virtually until the day she passed.
