Someone asks a question about birth control and if it is biblical. Some people may not realize it, but there are some sorts of birth control that are a form of abortion and therefore the people are committing murder.

Reread the text. Onan’s sin was NOT one of omission. He was not put to death because of what he refrained from doing. He was put to death for what he DID. Dude, it’s right there in the text, “And the thing which he DID displeased the Lord: wherefore he slew him also.”
NOT fulfilling his obligation is not something he DID, it’s obviously something he DID NOT do. He was put to death for what he DID.
If the spilling of seed is not what was displeasing to the Lord, why unnecessarily mention an explicit detail that has no bearing on why Onan was put to death? Explicit verses are almost always associated with wickedness.
Lastly, the eventual penalty for refusing to comply with the levirate marriage precept was only a mild public humiliation, not death.
Sorry, brother, but you’re sadly wrong on this one.

Im against BC for one reason. Its not trusting God in his gifts. I'm GUILTY of BC though and held for a while it was ok for reasons above. But i today think it's not trusting God and is wrong. We should trust God for all gifts and be as natural as possible in a ways.
I agree killing a fertilized egg IS Murder too. But if we are to adhere to Tims logic of what is and isn't mentioned in the Bible we have to be consistent. Apportion is ALSO not shown in the bible either. SO one can argue against his point of fetal murder here. I agree with TIM though, I'm just saying i don't believe completely for biblical reasoning. I believe these things because i trust God and his spirit tells me its wrong.
Murder IS a sin in the bible but not in the current societal abortive context. Its a grey line biblically. But its MURDER 1000000%. Just not concrete in the bible.
I can't even produce sperm. I suffer a RARE genetic lineage ending abnormality that keeps me from producing sperm at all. My wife and I had to use IUI to have children from Donar. I believe my children are a blessing and as hard as it is for my wife to get pregnant this way, we want as many as God will give us. Im not a rich man, we are not a high middle class family, we are low end but we TRUST God to see us through.
You cannot say you trust God if your usurping his will in your life with life controls. Its like taking measures to overcome life difficulties that usurp your need to fall on your knees first and plead for Gods help. BC is a worldy act where you do not trust god but try to control your own destiny. The world says you cannot have children after 40. But God says he will bless you at ANY age.

It can't be refuted that the primary purpose of birth control is to prevent an eternal life from coming into existance. We cannot look at it from a earthly prespective. When you are using birth control, you are actively and intentionally attempting to stifle eternal life all while still enjoying the pleasures of sex. You are partaking in the secondary purpose of sex, and the gift of God in making that act so pleasurable, while eliminating the primary purpose of sex, which is procreation. Birth control is not new, it's just way easier to access than any other time in history. But the view of historical christianity, and I mean all of it, is that birth control is sinful. And I think the bible completely supports that view. I think many modern ministers know this, but they're scared to say it because it would cause such a disruption in an already fragmented church. If you look in the bible, again and again and again, barrenness is viewed as a curse. Hannah, Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel... they all wept and grieved that they could not concieve. But men and women of today actively choose barrenness through the use of birth control, self mutilation, casting their seed on the ground etc. They are intentionally choosing what the women of the bible considered a curse. Proverbs 30 verse 16 lists barrenness alongside the grave and an earth not filled with water.
    Deuteronomy 7:14
Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
Here God shows barrenness as opposite of blessed.
I think with just a little bit of honest examination, it becomes pretty clear that birth control is a sin.

I agree with you to an extent my brother! The difference between Hannah and Sarah and the women today is this, both Hannah and Sarah's husband's wanted children, they're in agreement to have but couldn't, now you have a couple who has children but chose to delay the opportunity of having more children because they're content with what they have! Would you prefer either couple to do surgeries to permanently inhibit them from having anymore children or they just simply use a condom to prevent fertilizing an egg and having to make the hard decision of abortion or adoption which can be bad both ways in either case even though I would lean totally to adoption rather than to kill a life! It is a very important decision to make but the condom I would use in this case or only have sex with my wife once a month God's willing when she cannot conceive! Give thanks my brother! 9:01

Excellent question. This truth (like a TON of other truths in the Bible) aren't true all of the time. "Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Is this ALWAYS true? Of course not.
That said, children are a blessing wether or not they are given to someone who is not a Christian. So the opening of a womb is still a blessing regardless.

@MsKBrennan Tim Conway is speaking about wanting birth control for abortive motives, not about how it is sinful when fertilized eggs are flushed out that it is sinful. He is saying when you use your power to intentionally try to kill a soon to be baby, that is murder. I do not know much about pregnancy, but if those fertilized eggs are going to be flushed out or whatever naturally, then it is not sinful. Don't take every phrase out of context or you'll just be really confused.

I would add one more verse on this topic that is often overlooked. I can be dogmatic about the fact that the rhythm method is also wrong, because it requires a period of abstinence in order to make it work. 1 Corinthians 7:5 states, "Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency."

    • @davidmascarenas9830
      @davidmascarenas9830 Месяц назад

Catholicism is generally ok with natural family planning because it requires that both parties agree to be abstinent. This is that the Bible says is ok in the verse you bring up. However, either party has veto power over the arrangement. In Catholicism sex is a marital right and withholding sex without a grave reason is considered a mortal sin. This is also in line with the Bible verse you bring up.

Why don't we make it plain and state that both abortion and birth control are the same insomuch as they consist of taking God's institution of sexual relations and portioning them out based upon selfishness. If someone claims to have such godly reasons for birth control, let them just not have sex. If that doesn't work, don't take all the lettuce off the burger.

@GetItFilmed Matthew 18:15-20. That passage is Jesus teaching on church discipline. If the person does not repent, they are to be considered as unbelievers. That is what Tim means. Also, in 1 Corinthians 5, Paul addresses the case of people who claim to be Christians but willfully live in sin, he says to not even eat with them. Also 1 John 1&2 says that if you claim to be in Christ and live in sin (walk in darkness) you are a liar and the truth (Jesus) is not in you.

We cannot find "specific" things on the Bible that's the reason why we need pastors/priests (whatever) to explain to us newer things and some crucial matters and most importantly to shepherd us. If Bible was the answer to all our life then we don't need the church. Let's look around us. Many "Christian" groups have sprouted believing differently but holding the same Bible.

Another purpose of sex is Unitive - (Gen 2:24) Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh. (1Co 6:16) Do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two shall become one flesh." Lastly (3) Sex was made for Love - it is an expression of love but not love on itself. Sex w/ no love is again seeking nothing but pleasure. We must master our desires or it will enslave us. :)

More than half of fertilized eggs do not implant in the uterus and are flushed out of the woman's body. I hate this argument.. The body does not even recognize that there is a pregnancy until implantation occurs! I do not see anything sinful about wanting to plan your family and space them for health reasons and for the good of your existing children who need the attention in the early years.

      Hi brother/ sister:
The reason birth control is sinful has to do with God's design for sex
God made sex for two purposes namely for procreative purposes and unitive purposes (meaning to deepen the love and bond between the spouses)
However one must never separate the procreative purposes of sex from it's unitive purposes because God never intended for the two to be separate. For every act in marriage to be chaste it must meet both the procreative and unitive purposes of sex.
Let's take IVF for example: it's procreative but it's not unitive because there is no sexual union which takes place between the spouses which bonds them together. Therefore it's not within God's will because it separates the procreative purposes of sex from it's unitive purposes.
Birth control does the opposite of IVF. The sexual union takes place but it's closed off to procreation thereby rendering the act sterile. So birth control separates the sexual union from it's procreative purposes.
Let's take BDSM as another example. It is possible for BDSM to be procreative but hitting, choking, tying up your spouse during sex does not bond you together so it's non unitive and therefore BDSM should also not be practiced in a Christian marriage because it also separates the procreative from the unitive.
Unnatural sexual acts like oral sex, hand jobs, sex toys, pull out method ect. are all non procreative and non unitive so it's not within God's design.
Not saying God wants us to conceive every time we have sex but we should at least be open to life resulting from that act so if it is impossible that a baby could result from the act you are doing or it's contraceptive then it's wrong.
People can look up natural family and use that (with good reason) instead of condoms, birth control and artificial contraceptives if they wish to space out having children.
      God bless!

You mean like if you are sexually active with your partner and then become a Christian? I think that the bible talks strongly against sex before marriage and if you become a Christian you should make every effort to stop. Fortunately I have never been in that situation, but I know it would be extremely difficult to do. It would probably cause you to break up with your partner in most cases as well since they would not understand it or agree with it and you're already in the habit.

Sex was good & it was given by God for a purpose. 1. To procreate - through it we cooperate w/ God in human creation. Why do we need to have sex in order to multiply? Why didn't God made us like certain animals who multiplies when some part of their body is cut? For me it's also a test of being responsible with the full freedom. If we want to control birth then we must control sex. Those who want sex without the purpose to procreate are just seeking pleasure which is not one of its purpose.

Anyone that study the scripture diligently can see that birth control is the opposite of God command be fruitful and multiply! Genesis 1:28, as well as numerous scriptures saying children (plural means more than one, you need at least 3 to have any increase/multiply) are a blessing of the LORD! Psalm 127:4, Genesis 49:25, Deuteronomy 7:13 and there's more.
The main reasons people practice any form of birth control is because of money and/or responsibility of raising a family! LOVE OF MONEY = ???
