We bought a 1990 Dodge D350 12v 5.9 Cummins and a 1993 W350 12v 5.9 Cummins brand new for farm work and haven't needed or even wanted to buy anything newer. Still bone stock, these old girls ride like lumber wagons, squeek and creek, and are slow compared to today's trucks but been the most reliable rides of any kind we ever owned. When we do have to work on them, they're simple as hell. I know this video is older now but I think you saw where the future was heading perfectly. With today's diesel prices and ''limited supply'' it's important to hold onto the old rigs now more than ever. I got it set up so I can run anything from cooking oil, kerosene to used motor oil in my old girls. Great video! Keep the old rigs running!!!

Great points. We've been thinking about upgrading from our 2005 F350 PowerStroke (6.0). We've had our fair share of issues with it - but hoping it continues to hold up for us. A new truck is out of the question. Prices are unbelievable.

Last year I traded in my '16 Tundra SR5 4x4 and purchased a '15 LML LTZ 4x4. I rarely drove the Tundra b/c it killed me on gas, even w/o the A/C running. My diesel, with emissions, got much better MPG's than the Tundra driving the same roads. I have since tuned the LML am much happier. MPG's have slightly decreased, around town, since I love hearing my turbo too much (but they're still better than the Tundra).

That's what's up! 2009 LMM LTZ 4x4 Crew short bed. (Highest value according to KBB). She's been good to me, no major issues or replacements.. other than of course you know, our lovely IFS causing 2 replacements now of inner and outer tie rods and upper, CV axles, upper A-arms, injector/glow plug replacement.. and just a few months ago gearbox rebuild and new Rancho shocks in the back. Love the pre-DEF too. Aftermarket adjustable air ride front and rear (small lift), 2 compressors, 2 tanks, quick-connects for airline to air up tires, etc. on the go. Double layer Line-X bedliner. 33" A/T's on some nice XD I believe 20" rims. Magnaflow muffler. Obviously as you know, the LTZ has pretty much all the bells and whistles (minus sunroof and rear sliding window on mine), heated seats, OEM NAV, Bose, leather interior, reverse cam and sensors, prob more I'm forgetting, but this is how it was when I bought it (excluding the maintenance I mentioned obviously) private party in I wanna say 2018, @ 185k miles. Now at about 240k miles. Here in CA of course, due to weight, it's deemed "commercial" so registration is about $430... ridiculous. Anyway, just a few minor aftermarket things I did (never tuned or anything) but did install a K&N air intake, carbon fiber wrapped wider air flow exhaust downpipe, high quality LED Lows, Highs and Fogs and that's pretty much it. So like I said, I picked it up in 2018 or so, for $22,500... great deal. I've been considering selling due to the high market and everything I've seen i could get easily $25k+ around here. I'm worried something major might go out and I honestly don't need that much of a truck anymore or have the $ to fix. Just curious other's opinions of starting asking price? Btw, I'd trade you in a heartbeat for that LBZ haha. Saw one on Craigslist today, 06, super clean, crew, 4x4, everything... only like 120k miles, asking i think $62k... I just about feel out of my chair lol. Never let that puppy go brother. I was looking for an LBZ before I came across my LMM lol

Hello and good day. Hey Rust Belt mechanic I know you're a GM person, however I would like your opinion on my old older 7.3 2003 F250 6-speed manual. It's been very reliable for the last 50,000 miles. I use it to pull a 30-foot travel trailer bumper pull and actually I really like this F250 7.3 6-speed manual, what's your thoughts on what possibly upgrades I could possibly do to this vehicle to make it maybe possibly more fuel efficient. I know don't drive it that's the most fuel efficient answer you can answer that with. Basically the point is do you have any recommendations on what I can do to make this old girl sing a little sweeter? Thank you.

Bought my 190,000 mile '06 LBZ from a private party at the beginning of the year for 18k. I drove down to LA from centeral CA to get it and don't regret it a bit.
Since then I have replaced some worn out hoses, new break booster, and just got the last few parts in for redoing the front end with a Kryptonite / Dmax Store / Moog HD combo. So far I'm maybe $3k extra in which is about $8k under what all the dealers in the area wanted.
I just wanted something to Tow a 5th Wheel / Jeep and don't plan on putting 30k miles on it in probably the next 5 years. I couldn't see spending $60k for a new truck that would see so little use and then be worried about the Def crysalizing from not being used. Also being in CA the LBZ is one of the most powerful in stock form trucks available in its class and the CA legal Edge Tuner makes it alot more fun than a 2500 should be 🤘🤣👍

Dont buy a new diesel, i agree. Diesel sucks and I own a legendary dt466 and a kubota. Electric motors are obviously so much better we just need the batteries to scale up and be nice and cheap and recyclable (coming soon). Chargers will be everywhere like parking spots, eventually wireless and on road. Watch how the tesla semi truck smokes every diesel on planet earth up the Rocky mountains at max load and then regenerates coasting down hill. Leap frog!
