@@grahammontague And Vermont is one of my favorite places. Awesome people, forests, lakes and rivers. One of the best kept secrets! I'm from Quebec and have visited often. :)
@ you are right, Vermont is a very special place! I have never been to Quebec but it’s on my bucket list places to visit. I am sure it has many beautiful places and people too!
Used to do a lot of snorkeling around Lake Hortonia. Was even better than the fishing which was good. Nice video. Good to see there's no milfoil in that lake. And the bluegills used to nibble on one in passing, I remember.
I will have to check out Lake Hortonia next summer! It looks amazing. Theres nothing better than getting a bluegill exfoliation. Thank you for the comment and happy holidays!
There are some big Northern Pike in there but I think I still beat them in size haha. I love snorkeling in freshwater- it beats fishing (mostly because I suck at catching fish most times hahaha)! Thanks for the comment!
Try it in brooks and rivers. It is awesome to watch a smaller stream connect to a larger stream during a rainstorm. The smaller stream muddies first and the fish know that the muddy rivulet is bringing in food.
That’s an awesome video; thanks for sharing that! I would have been afraid to get nailed by a giant water bug, a backswimmer, a turtle (especially a snapping turtle) or a snake.
When did you film this? This can't be November. Looks like an all around awesome day. There's a bunch of snow on the ground in Montana and people are snorkeling in Vermont?
Haha Thank you!! I filmed this in on a hot day in July. We have some snow in the higher elevations of the Vermont mountains now but haven’t got a solid snowfall yet. I’m sure it’s beautiful in Montana right now with all the snow!
i do this any time possible, so few people snorkel. its entire new worlds down their.im in the area 05143, ive swam with the snapping turtles. ive gone 25 feet deep into flooded forests
I’m glad that you also enjoy snorkeling! I got into it because I always hated getting skunked fishing haha. But now I see fish everytime I snorkel! Very cool that you’ve swam with snapping turtles and been in flooded forests!!!
@@grahammontague in 05156 the flooded the lands and there is a pond called Stoughton and if you go down 25 there is a forest there. we did a dare we swam out at midnight and went to the bottom. we quickly learned the other guy when he got touched by a branch lost thier cool lol. funny thing is he went on to be a tech diver
i bought a rc boat and endoscope i hang off it..i actually didn't get to use it yet.. the have these cool bait boats..i also have a android fish finder bobber it can drag
That is sweet- do you ice fish? I’d love to drop down the endoscope in the ice hole to see the fish below the ice. Fishing from the RC boat would be so cool haha
That is a bummer! I’ve gotten some really bad ear infections too, they are no fun. I wonder if there is anything you could do to prevent the ear infections?
Great question, and I am not entirely sure. My guess is that the aquatic plants (especially the large-leaved pondweed) are producing a lot of oxygen from photosynthesis and you can see the oxygen from them. But they could also be from decaying plant material too. Amazing observation and thanks for asking!
In the planted fish tank hobby this is called pearling. Most definitely oxygen being produced by the plants or from the algae on them. Really cool to see it "in the wild".
I love catching snapping turtles!! Unfortunately didn’t see any this time but I made a video about catching them if you are interested in them. Thanks for the comment!
Haha those bluegill were ruthless! The one bluegill followed me around the entire day and continuously would bite me. It made the snorkeling experience that much more fun!
Thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you for watching and commenting, you made my day! I love exploring the underwater world.

Great video
Thank you very much! I have too much fun snorkeling so I’m glad I can share it with everyone.
Yellow perch looked pretty !! Wow
I agree- the one especially was very photogenic! I loved their colors in the clear water.
You are an absolute animal my friend...that was so cool!!!
Haha thank you! The water is home to me. You’re an absolute amazing person for leaving a comment!!
Those are some of the dang bluest bluegill I ever did see. Great way to cool down on a hot day and see some cool fish 🤿
Haha yea those bluegill had beautiful coloration- probably because of the clear water! I can’t think of a better way to cool off either!!
Spectacular fishery! Thx from WA State for making this vid, well done 👍
Wow thank you for the positive comment! I love Washington state, I used to live in Twisp! Happy holidays!
Lake snorkeling is underrated!
I agree! Especially if you find a really clear lake. It is so therapeutic!
What a neat underwater world. I had no idea any body of water in Colchester could be so clear!
I loved this pond. It also has great pike fishing! Thanks for watching- you made my day!

This is pretty slick pal Thanks.
Thank you watching and commenting! I have some more snorkeling videos coming up soon that I’m stoked about. Happy holidays!
That was awesome; thanks for sharing !
Thank you so much for watching and appreciating the aquatic wildlife! You made my day
You are now the biggest predator in the water. Pretty cool. You have to be the only one doing this in fresh water.

freshwater snorkeling looks really fun- never considered it until now
It is a blast! Find some clear freshwater and try snorkeling it! You’ll be surprised on what you can see.

@ this is a great idea and I will definitely be trying this out next year! Thanks for the tip!
Look at all that invasive Hydrilla. Geez.
@ I was blown away by all the Hydrilla too. I loved seeing the native large-leaved pondweed though! This pond was loaded with fish.
That’s an awesome video; thanks for sharing that! I would have been afraid to get nailed by a giant water bug, a backswimmer, a turtle (especially a snapping turtle) or a snake.
Thank you for the positive comment- it means a lot to me. Haha all of those are possibilities, but it adds to the fun!!!
nothin like going to the ol' free bluegill car wash
Haha I love this comment. They cleaned me far better than any shower I’ve ever taken!!
Peace love snorkeling
The equation to a happy life ❤️

3:43 did that smallmouth just cast a bubble ring?
Yes it did. Very cool that you noticed that-it is so satisfying! Happy holidays!
looks like some of the weeds in creature from the black lagoon, glad you didn;t run into that dude.
Haha thank Neptune that I didn’t run into that dude… it would have made for a cool video but I would have been fish food 😂
Awesome amount of life in that pond. What temps were you dealing with?
The abundance and diversity was amazing! This was in the summer so the temps were around 70F when I snorkeled it!

Careful those bluegill’s were after your maggot 👀

November?
I snorkeled this in July! I’d love to see how it changes in November. So I might give it a try!
There should have been a sign: "Beware Of Bluegill"
Haha those bluegill were ruthless! The one bluegill followed me around the entire day and continuously would bite me. It made the snorkeling experience that much more fun!
@grahammontague I've seen 5 inch bluegill chase 10 inch bass away from their nest. They are quite aggressive.
@@johnhammond9962 just imagine if they grew as big as a 10 pound bass! That would be so epic
DO YOU EVER SEE ANY SOUTHERN PIKE IN THE POND THERE ? THEY LOOK THE SAME BUT DON'T HAVE THE WHITE SPOTS ON THEIR BODIES.
I haven’t seen any of the southern pike in this pond unfortunately. I looked them up and they are really cool looking! Thanks for the comment!!
