- Welcome back! I almost messed up on peach wood bowl. In this wood turning video I'll be turning a green turned peach wood bowl that has been sitting and drying for many years. Finally getting around to cleaning out my wood kiln and making room for more.
I decided to give it a Shou Sugi Ban look or something along the lines of a burnt distressed look. I had to take it easy on finishing the bottom, you'll see when i break out the calipers.

Man that peach wood grain is outstanding !! thanks for sharing
Thanks! The golden chatoyancy in it is just stunning!
A very gorgeous peach wood bowl. Well done.
Thank you Jack.
That charring is sweet!
Thanks! I’d used the black CA filling a piece before. The black color with the golden orange gave the idea to color or char the the next one!
Very nice! Love the burned accents!
Thank you!
Looks good bro!!! I have a bunch drying. Can’t wait!! Hope they turn out that well!!! Keep it up beo
Thanks!
You scored some? Awesome! Smells niiiiice!
Really unique! Just lovely!!
Thank you! 😁
Gorgeous - like just about everything you do.👍
@@carlylemiller4735 hahahaha I’ll accept the just about. Perfection and being human are like oil and water 😂
Epic piece, brother! Love it!
Sorry bro! Digging through comments. Thanks!
Never turned Peachwood but it sure looks as if it turns well, nice shavings.
Quite brave to take the flame to it after all that sanding! 😎
I’ve been trying to find more of this stuff but it’s almost impossible. It’s an ornamental peach tree, so it doesn’t fruit. And this type can get really big compared to fruiting trees.
And yea, I knew there was a risk in this thing snapping a big crack with the heat being applied. So it was fingers crossed the whole time lol.
Beautiful. I recently found my late husband's gun powder. I was thinking about doing a design on wood and igniting the powder.
Thank you!
That would absolutely work! I’m sure one could even use a thin glue like Elmer’s to paint a picture and sprinkle on a rounded surface so it would stay.
That’s actually a really good idea!
