Oh how this video spoke to me. I had three years of trauma in my career. Two terrible years at one school, then I thought I found somewhere better the next year and it was even worse. It was all because of admin. I eventually found the perfect school for me where I am extremely happy. It’s my sixth year at my current school, but I still think about my past trauma. It stays with you, but it also makes me appreciate where I’m at even more. Best of luck to you!! ❤

So glad you found the workplace for you 🤍 It’s so sad how many teachers have reached out to me with similar experiences, but I’m glad so many have continued on to find a better place for them. Thank you and you as well!!🥰

I’m glad your new school is a more positive work environment! Can you make a video comparing teaching 5th vs 3rd grade?

I’m a social worker, not a teacher but wow hearing you speak on the treatment and environment coming from the top down resonated deeply. I’m hoping in a few months time I’ll be like you in a new space, but in the meantime I’m excited for whatever videos you’ll be putting out and I hope you know how many people you’ve got cheering you on 🥹🥳

Oh my, I have SOOOO been there!!! It makes other things that happen later on pale by comparison. I've been teaching third grade now (moved from fifth) for the last 12 years, now in my 27th year of teaching. LOVE my job even with some of the BS that seems to come with any "workplace" where people think of others before themselves, but these are far and few between. SUPER fortunate and humble for sure. Hope you grow to love it like I have!

This is so encouraging to hear! I’m glad you were able to find a good workplace and I totally understand what you mean! No workplace is perfect, but I definitely draw the line with constant gaslighting 🥴 Congrats on teaching for 27 years, that is an AMAZING accomplishment!🤍

Can so relate to your experiences, frequently being yelled at in front of other students and other staff. One AP even shoved me from behind while I was with a student. My union and HR were of no help. 😢 planning my exit.

So sorry you had to experience that. Hoping you find a positive work environment else where 🤍 And what, shoved you??!? The teaching profession is literally wild, I can't 😵‍💫

@@HaileyCarvalho Yes the AP shoved me, and she was caught on camera so she couldn’t lie about it like she did with everything else. Now she is the one in big big trouble. Sadly Teaching has become very toxic.😢

I’m so sorry for you! I remember How stressful last year was and I’m so glad that your in a better environment! You didn’t deserve the treatment at the old school (not saying it for privacy reasons) but I’m so glad that you’ve gotten a better work ethic!

This was bizarre to watch. I had an almost eerily similar experience. I had a good first year teaching 2nd grade at my first school 21-22, challenging class but great admin. Then our principal got fired (sketchy af reasons not related to her) and the new one who came in was a literal psychopath. People dropped like flies - he either fired them or they quit before he could fire them. Lost both our amazing APs.
First week of school 22-23 (what would've been my second year), I got covid, was horribly sick, miserable, stressed to literal illness. The first day I was coming back after finally testing negative (3rd week of school), I was in a drive-thru at starbucks on the way to work, had a seizure and crashed into a pole. The car in front of me had driven off so I didn't hit anyone else. This would've been catastrophic if it happened 2 minutes earlier or 2 minutes later when I was/would've been on the highway. Like you say it felt very weird despite my not being religious at all. I resigned that day.
I am going back to teaching this fall. I took the year off to process the insane amount of trauma I got from those last few weeks at my school. I hope you're in a better position now!

OMG that really is SO eerily similar. I’m so happy you’re okay after that! SO scary but it definitely served as an effective wake up call for both of us! I hope you find the right workplace for you! I’m glad you took the time to recover and process. I’m very happy with my new school! Good luck with your future endeavors 🤍

  • @WinterWind

When you say you were gaslighted do you mean literally or something else? I'm a wee bit confused by the situation. It does sound like admin were awful regardless. Often the case unfortunately 😑

I've wanted to quit for SOOO long but I'm old LOL. You should send that Admin a Thank You card because this District will never get better. I thought my 3rd year would be my last because I don't Kneel to them but with Covid hitting in 2020 I guess I lucked out. Congrats on your new position.
