Very nice remodeling job and design. Loved the video but for me the music was to loud while you were giving the tour. You have inspired us to add some design elements into out International? Thanks for taking us along.

Here is what I liked about your remodel:
Electric fireplace stove, Widescreen TV, Rockguards outside, New awnings, New rims, Corian countertops. All great upgrades and will increase resale.
Some feedback on the remodel and video:
Try not to talk when music is playing. Cannot hear either. Use a wide angle lens to pan camera in a small space. Camera is out of focus at times, so try using a better camera with higher resolution.
Vinyl tile wood pattern flooring? What a missed opportunity to put in a hand-scraped real wood floor in rich colors like bamboo, mahogany, cherry, hickory, ebony. Vinyl is so commonplace and does not add a luxury feel.
Corian countertop is very nice, but I would change the mismatched cabinet handles - these detract from your overall design. They look Victorian not modern. You can buy Cosmas brand modern ones on Amazon for $2 each.
Wall curvy track lights - Why not use recessed lights where you can, and some sleek modern fixtures which match kitchen and don’t stick out. These are very distracting.
If you need a firm mattress under your foam topper, consider a Kawada mattress. They are sized for residential use. They are airy, and very firm, and last forever. Hard to find, but the only mattress I will ever use.
If you are looking for costly RV blinds, consider IKEA Kvartal curtain tracks instead. I used them in my RV. They are light, modern, cut easily with an angle grinder blade for a custom size. They have roller tracks, and you either buy or make your curtains.
Nice trailer! Enjoy your new home. Thanks for sharing your remodel. It is helpful in formulating my own ideas for remodels and seeing what works or creative ideas other people have.

The itty bitty tiles are not to my taste, nor the frou frou bed, and the kitchen lighting is just plain silly, but I do like the round seating area. It's probably less practical than a rectangular dinette, but the style is worth it, especially if you don't need to make it into an auxiliary bed.

Eztliz yea it was very distracting which is a shame because the airstream is amazing.

Nice designer. So was this a DIY project or custom order? So it took about a year to complete, but how often is that in man hours? What was cost breakdown? This is really similar to what I have in mind to do for myself. Also is there anything you would do differently and why did you decide to go Airstream versus other RV's or a Tiny House?

+Nikki Anderson DIY, Nikki ...my family grew up camping and my dad always wanted an Airstream; after he passed away, we pulled the string and picked up an older, vintage model with lots of space (we have 4 kids & 3 dogs). The demo went fast, then we got stuck . . . sensory overload w/ a dose of "what have we gotten ourselves into?"; lots of "stuff" purchased but not sure how the pieces should go back together. For a break, we had some work done at P&S (awnings replaced, some small projects w/ electrical, etc) for a couple weeks and were running our ideas/plans by them--they are great people! P&S affirmed our plans/strategies so we were off and running once we got it back in our driveway. Most of the work occurred on weekends for about 3 months. Once gutted, we filled holes and painted--then covered the floor with 1/2" subfloor for a nice, even surface to apply the wood-plank vinyl. We invested about $12,000 on top of the purchase price of $6500 but many of the finishes are high-end. If doing it again, I'd probably opt for a wood laminate (cork or bamboo) as the vinyl floating floor moves a bit too much and we've have some gaps to fill every now and then. Airstream has been and remains an American icon--because it's an Airstream, I feel we'll retain more "return on investment" in the long run compared to a white box/tiny house. Our association with the Airstream community has been rewarding. We had a blast on our trek to Key West last summer and our trailer was definitely an attention-getter everywhere we went! We're heading to the WBCCI International Rally in Lewisburg, WVA this summer! Good luck on your project--you wont regret sticking with AS!

Thanks. I grew up camping also so I believe I know exactly what I want and do not want. Custom built is more what I'm thinking anyhow cause I want a full size sink, fridge and tub. Bed on one end with walk through bath and kitchen and dining on other end. 32' is likely what I need minimum so it don't feel cramped. What insulation did you end up putting in? What's the R-value? And were the panels hard to put back in after rewiring and stuff? Insulation is one of my major concerns because a tiny house can have way more energy efficiency in walls and the roof, especially cause I plan to live in mine year round in likely a cold state like MI. Where did all your plumbing get relocated or is it? It's such a dilemma trying to figure out if I want to go with a composting toilet so my grey water will be a tank on-board or in a small one in the ground, plus it won't use more water, but it will need more electricity for the fan to work in it. I also really want solar power and to be able to collect rain water and be completely off grid most of the time. Is that something you wanted? Thanks for the tips on the vinyl flooring. I wonder if it could be glued down to help from not moving. I liked the idea of putting it in for easy maintenance or a cheap laminate with heated floors.

+Nikki Anderson The insulation replaced was at the front around the electrical panel. Plumbing was upgraded only at the fixture locations--everything else was in good shape. I have (4) 75-watt solar panels yet to be installed--a project for this summer. Although we don't anticipate boon-docking much, I thought it would be a nice option to be "off the grid." The heated floor sounds like a good idea--not a big deal if you're gutting most of the interior like we did. I would think composting toilet would be advantageous in a cold climate--you wouldn't have to worry about tanks freezing. Good luck--to be honest, we really "winged it" and changed plans quite often during the remodel. We're head to the International Rally in WVA this summer--can't wait to get out of Dodge!

That blue and yellow was unbelievable! Nice job with the renovation! About how long did it take you from start to almost finish?

About a year and a half . . . demo didn't take long; then we suffered through a period of paralysis until re-energized after a visit to P&S Airstream in Helena, OH. They replaced the awnings and provided a boost in "affirmations" on what we were planning to do. Condensed, about a 6-mo project!

Sorry - ketchup on wedding cake. A faithful restoration could have made something classical and satisfying. Brave effort, average result.

Perhaps on a 50's or 60's vintage trailer; with this '83, we made it into something "we" enjoy spending time in. Doing so together makes all the difference!
