    That Brown Sharpie trick, doing just one side of a grizzly hackle, is one of those things I should have thought of myself. Another trick to at to my fly bench. The Adams is one of the greatest dry flies ever created. I have a fly box that has nothing but that dry fly in it. I will be adding this one to the box, # 14 down to an # 18 for sure # 20 and 22 if I got the hackle for that, of course later today I am going to buy a Brown Sharpie or two.

    Greatest dry fly pattern ever devised, imo. Catches fish like crazy and the post gives you good visibility. Best of all, they’re easy to load with floatant so dry dropping becomes *ridiculously* easy. Elk hair caddis and parachute adams..the only two dry fly patterns I truly NEED in my box.

    Best tying I've come across for this fly. The sharpie thing is genius! Thanks very much.

    Love this method for tying parachutes. I just tied a few of these and it worked just as you showed. Thanks!

    Great technique - for a great classic dry fly. I’ve caught more trout on this pattern than any other including Caddis and various stimulators.

    Nice and simple. No brown hackle added in with the grizzly? But hey, I won't judge: if it catches fish, who cares? I will definitely try this version out. Thanks much!

    Wouldn't one side of the hackle be pinched against the post and the other be exposed? So instead of coloring one side of the feather you should instead color it up and down? White, black, brown, black, white, black, brown, etc.

    • @FlyFishFood
      @FlyFishFood  2 года назад +1

      Even the hackle that is pinched against the post will flare and be visible.

    I'm really surprised it wasn't tied this way in the first place.... not sure why the "original" method calls for tying off the material merkin style when it could be done easily this way.
