That George IV Shilling was a great find even if it was a common date. I love the pre decimal British stuff, and it only gets cooler the further back you go, especially the hand hammered medieval coins from the 1500s and before
Nice vid, Christian, as always ! 10:18 : WW I, Germany, City of Koblenz, emergency money, "gueltig bis ein Jahr nach Friedensschluss" means "valid one year after signing the peace treaty". Nice coin and not very common.

Great video. I never got into foreign coins but a friend just sent me some from Germany, Belgium, France and England that her grandfather brought back after WWII. Some are from the 1800's and go up to the 1940's. Unfortunately they were all taped down to paper so they have sticky residue on then. I tried soaking a couple in acetone but after a few hours decided it wasn't worth the time to salvage them.
Best grab bags ever! Love watching these. I buy old foreign coins. But I dont have any books for them yet. So I learn one and buy it. But your knowledge to these are awesome
I don't wanna brag, but I have around 40 to 50 of those yellow 25 kuruş coins from Turkey. But still, kinda surprising that it was your fourth time finding that coin. The grade looks like a VG8 to me. For some reason, turkish coins wear out much faster than from other countries, but I do like the wear on a coin sometimes. Either way, nice hunt!
Hey Christian,The Anna's were used in India in from about the 1800s to 1960s in India and then the Rupee was decimalised in the mid 1950s.So the 25 pause coin reads 25 Naye paise(new paise). So before the decimalisation 16 Annas were a Rupee.
NIce video, Christian! Your Irish sixpence is not silver, but it's an interesting coin, because 1928 was the first year Ireland began producing its own coins!
The first Chinese TEN CASH coin made of copper ( circa 1912 - 1949 ) is from the Republic of China, this particular one is from the first year of issue of 1912, found by 國民華中 幣念紀國開 Y#301.4 (Large star on flag extending to edges of flag; Double circle with six-pointed stars separating legend) and the second coin is also a 1912 coin Y#301.5 (Flower with many stems; Single circle on reverse) made of brass, Very nice coins :-)
The Indian rupee was decimalized in 1957. Pre decimalization, the rupee was made up of 16 annas, which was in turn divided into 4 paisa (old), which was in turn divided into 3 pie (demonetized in 1942, by the 20th century only used in postage stamps). Post decimalization, the rupee was divided into one hundred naye paise (or new paisa). The new was dropped in 1964.
That's a cool irish coin with the dog. 6 cents, is that copper or brass? I have a mint set from Ireland 1960, an I'm pretty sure they are all copper and brass
@@robc1394 I checked them out and compared to other stores. Littleton charges $18/lb. Lowest price I found elsewhere was $5.50/lb. I looked at Littleton's other offerings and high markups seems to be a theme.
The 1826 British coin is a one shilling piece, or one twentieth of a pound. At the time that coin was minted in London, the King was a very unpopular, fat, and self obsessed laudanum addicted man. He greatly over spent on himself, whilst the British economy tanked and there was a coin and silver shortage. The silver content of that shilling is about as high as you can get for any general circulation coinage in the world: 92.5% silver. Only the financial fallout from the first world war forced the Royal Mint to lower the silver content (1920 onwards, 50% silver). I could watch you rummage through coins all day long...

The one at 5:10 is from Iraq, and during 1920 in Canada they made both large and small cents
Interesting coins
Another fact Ireland gained independence in 1921 but didn’t start minting coins in 1928
1920 was the last year they made Canadian large cents.
