when I first saw the title I thought to myself why not just buy one of those little cargo nets for motor cycle luggage racks. Then when I saw that neat tool and the fact you can customize the size of the net in just a few minutes I realized the beauty of this idea.
Very slick Dave. That looks really nice. I have multiple cord locks on hand. If someone had those, it would also make a nice way to finish it off. I bet you could also rig it up with stretch cord as well. My gears started turning lol. You always have great ideas brother!
And now we know the basics of net making too... Too easy! This is going to be great for drying my second pair of socks. And a lot of the time I just need to air my clothes instead of washing them every time. It can be fairly dry in Straylia, so we don't always have the opportunity to wash clothes. Puttin' on clammy clothes is a bastard.Clothes last longer this way too. Beauty Dave... Lookin' forward to the next one mate. Universal Sovereign Citizen
That's definitely one of those 'KISS - keep it stupidly simple' ideas any outdoor user would appreciate. Thanks for sharing Dave. (And cat approved too)
As much as I love paracord and think it fits in this application so well, I wonder if you could also use shock cord or other elastic types of cordage to make your net stretch around more and bigger items. Thanks for the great idea, Dave.
Dave, I just wanted to say that I love your videos! I remember watching Dual Survival for the first time when I was only around 5 years old; seeing you and Cody work together was wonderful and I still watch those two seasons frequently. I'll never forget the skills you taught in the show, and I am so glad you and Cody continue to teach survival! Thank you for all you do!
Wow!! I guess great minds think alike!! I did something similar to the self reliance pack I got from SRO!!! Absolutely love your channel and content!! Thank you so much for sharing brother Dave Canterbury!!! Your awesome!!!👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Seriously impressed with what I've seen from your channel since subscribing. I'm out in Sweden on holiday right now with a new bag from fjallraven and im iching to give this a shot when I get back home. Great stuff, thank you for what you do.
Thanks for sharing your experience Dave! I have found cargo net to be very helpful in many situations it's good to know how to perfect it so that we can make different sizes
Love this. Ever since seeing the net on frame video you did I keep trying to work out how best to do it on the pack I have. It won’t work quite how it does here, but I think between the two I can work something out now. Thankyou for this.
Net pockets are nice too for when you put things that need more air, to air it out or dry. They won't dry inside the pack, so if it's not raining obviously, then something on the outside of your pack with holes like that like a net has will dry you'll have to move it around a little bit, but it will air dry stuff too, would be great for wet socks or a hat just about anything you need are dried.
I think I am going to try this with a couple of army surplus packs and then line the interior of the net space with a shemagh to create a lined pouch on the outside.
Amazing and perfect timing. I was searching for a kind of mesh elastic pocket, as molle attachment for my TT pathfinder mk1. I wanted to add it to the front as all these UL packs have compartments. But now I can do something better and cheaper by myself thank you 😊
I made a net for my backback with an elastic cord. It works ok, but your method with the adjustable opening is brilliant and appears to be much more robust.
If you were to use small carabiners to attach your net it could then be taken off the pack to be used as a trap net or other uses making it more multi functional? Just a thought. Nice idea! Best wishes
really great idea and excellent video. Could you please tell me the name of the tool that you used again, and where I can get one? Thank you, and please continue your insightful and knowledgeable videos. The learning is very entertaining and useful
If this was done with shock cord Dave, would it be ½ the length for the same capacity? I bought a spool of it to rig my packs with exterior cargo netting.
Dave I have your newest model pack. It doesnt fit me in the waist and the shoulder straps really hurt my traps at any weight they hurt at 40 pounds they hurt at 10 pounds. The hip belt i can stuff a whole hand in between it and my stomach. I cant return it I dont want to return it its the best features on a pack ive seen so is there any tips for gettin the hip belt to fit for us skinny guys and to beef up the shoulder straps?
Dave's videos are about the only ones I don't have to set to 1.5 speed, he talks fast enough already but doesn't waste time with BS, 100% information!

I'm going to try this for my Scout pack. I have the "gen 1" and absolutely LOVE it, but I can see how this simple netting can help. Thank you Dave!
Used that technique on my motorycle first.
Then on my frameless ultralight backpack. Very versatile to modifiy your capacity on the go.
Great addition mate. Cheers from Australia.

As always thanks for the knowledge. I’ll be doing this to my Scout pack!! Love the pack since I bought it!!!!❤❤
Thank you for your views and your support. The New M81 Version of this pack is available at selfrelianceoutfitters.com
Really liked the net making, one of those things I forget that I want to learn more about. Thank you sir!
I remember your backpack frame video with that sweet bankline net and I loved it.
I love the fact is constantly innovating and improving the functionality of any of his gear... dave McGiver...😅

I've had the thought of this before but never knew how to do it. Very good.
Nice video love the demo…Have fun stay safe.
Neat trick. I like to have rain gear or some sitting implement super accessible depending on what I'm out for and the weather.
I can see a use for that on my pack. Great idea Dave!
That was a really good video. Really enjoyed it and very educational

Absolutely love your project videos. Ive watched the trapper nelson and pvc alice frame videos several times. Made the latter. 😎👍
I'm gonna make this for my pack, great idea Dave!
That is a great idea! I’ve never seen that before. Awesome as always

JAM UP GREAT VIDEO DAVE!!!!!!!!
Maybe try this with shock cord

This is perfect for quickness.

Awesome video I need to add this to a pack of mine
Awesome idea stud. Dig it.
Very cool, thank you 😊
Замечательная альтернатива использумым повсеместно резиновым шнурам. Спасибо за хорошую идею!
Dave is the King
I use something very similar , picked it up at a camping store . Cargo net for ATV . GREAT SIZE with clips
Nice project!

Cool idea !!
That was Hella cool, a simple approach.. me likes muchly
Excellent video
A great pack hack👍
Very cool. Would it work with shock cord as well?
if you have em laying around you could also use a drawstring toggle instead of the knots
Great tip... simple... yes.. but sometimes simple Ness avoids us! Then you are like, I should have realized that moments!
Great idiea thx👏🏼👍🏼👍🏼😎
great job on the video
Great vid
Thank You that's pretty slick
Very clever
Nifty little mod.
This reminds me of the hammock you made years ago out of Paracord
I wonder how hard it would be to add some toggles to it and make it function more like a closable pocket?
good one ,Thanks Dave...woods
I was expecting zeppelin bends for the mesh knots. Looks good though.
Good idea, could be better with shock cord.
I couldn't find that fid and needle kit in your Amazon store.

I bought a spool of it to rig my packs with exterior cargo netting.
👍
May I ask, would this also be possible with shock cord in order to provide stretch and accommodate a greater range of objects?
I don't think I've ever seen u use that tool B4 could u do a review of it or refer us 2 which video used it in
Wanna do this with some shock cord!
