Go listen to "The Gospel" and tell me this isn't in keeping with their roots. The main difference is that the performance, production, and composition are all on a higher level than when they started. Dialed in, if you will.

I'm so pleased Bryan decided to throw an "eeeeeeee" in that spectacular few seconds that made me crack an unusually large smile (and went back to watch it again right then). After the crowd (including myself) going insane when he made a similar sound at a show, I was really hoping he was going to start sprinkling that stuff in the recordings.
It was so good! I got chills.

literally cannot get enough of that noisy ass guitar tone. They went so raw for this single, and hopefully the full album. Everything sounds like the budget for the album was cut into a 3rd of what they had for the last album, and I LOVE IT. the guitar tone is so rattle-y and the snare ringing out like that is just perfection.

@@HornOfGoat33 yes I have, but this is rare for modern metal which is usually overproduced to high heaven, think brand of sacrifice. I used to love BOS but I slowly developed a liking for more raw production, and this song is full of that raw energy.

Distinctly remember when these lyrics were a proclamation for me. Raised religious, then was a devout atheist for many years. I only found out many years later how poorly religion and many that followed religion blindly represented the true nature of God. I thought they represented what "God" really was and thought what they were living out was what he actually called for.
Many here will not be in the same place as me now, and I respect that. And I encourage everyone, do NOT follow blindly. Do NOT have a blind faith. Don't claim it, believe, or follow it simply due to your upbringing, your family, culture, or because it's what you're told is correct. It should be challenged. But I will also say that so many (likely most) of these "Christians", "Christ followers", religious people, or whatever else we call them SEVERELY misrepresent God and his actual heart and nature. I encourage anyone to not let these misrepresentations formulate your understanding or ideals on who God is or what he wants or desires for you. Seek to know him directly (or don't, though I hope you do), but don't follow blindly and also don't let peoples' terrible representations, misinterpretations, etc., be a determining factor on your own thoughts on him, whether good or bad.

I face life head on and changed my mindset after I realized that miracles simply don't happen. The only one that can save me is me and that no one else is there for me, especially not some inter dimensional imaginary being. After this realization I've become extremely content and generally happy for seeing what life truly is.
