bummer that the printer video did badly, i actually find it really helpful, it made me realize that i should go for a toner one instead of an liquid ink one
Unless you need high resolution photo printing I have no idea why the hell people even buy inkjets anymore, black and white lasers are stupidly cheap and even decent colour lasers are pretty cheap these days and both support Wi-Fi and even handy features like AirPrint. I picked up a Samsung Wi-Fi colour laser printer about 12yrs ago for about £180 new and it still works and in all that time I've only changed the toners twice and drum once, all which would have been significantly cheaper than an inkjet printer which uses expensive inks and dries up after a few weeks of non use in which case I would have had to buy multiple injets in that time. I'll never buy an inkjet printer ever again. Best thing about lasers is it's always nice knowing if I don't print something for 6 months or more I can just turn the printer on and know the page will come out perfectly fine.
I watched it, and liked most of it. I wish they had included the cheapest Epson Eco Tank printer (2850) rather than just the most expensive consumer model (4850). Especially since the other printers they included were all used, and/or cheap.
This is easily the best, most rational, most logical, and sensible talk that I have ever seen since the iPhone announcement. It’s actually refreshing. Thank you.
bro, i’m so tired of seeing all the negativity every phone release cycle. there is no reason for someone using a flagship phone released a year ago to upgrade to the next one. the age of big upgrades every release has been over for a while.
@@oluwatayo.x I think it is different for iPhones. They leave out a lot of features. You should say that USB 2.0 and 60 Herz is a Joke in 2024 and that the storage options are a bloody joke!
You don’t need a new phone every year, but I don’t get how people are hating that they’re given an option for improvement every year. If an iPhone 12 and an iPhone 11 had a five year gap between them, the iPhone 12 would have five years worth of tech upgrades. If the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 16 had a 5 year gap between them, the iPhone 16 would have the same five years worth of tech upgrades with the addition of 4 other options in between. I always loved this about phones. Phone users don’t know how good they have it. I wish they could implement this into the car industry because I had this problem last year. I had a Porsche Cayenne but it started having frequent problems, so I sold it. After that, I needed a new car but the release gap between Cayennes were so long that the newest version is still the same car I bought 6 years ago. And buying a car from 6 years ago is just a complete scam so I ended up having to buy Mercedes GLC43 AMG Coupe instead.

They're finally understanding how regular people buy phones. I rocked a pixel 3 XL for 6 years until it finally died in 2024 and at that point it didn't matter what I bought because everything was a massive upgrade. It's not about what changes after one year
As an example iPhones only having 128 GBs of storage on the lowest model doesn't matter to people like my GF who's still rocking an iPhone XR with 64 gbs. No matter what she chooses she's getting double the storage
I was so sad when my pixel 3 died last year. Ended up with a 6a and honestly i wish it had changed a lot less than it did. Miss my fingerprint on the back.

As someone who regularly hangs on to my devices for 4-5 years, jumping from my 12 pro to a 16 pro makes a lot of sense. For my wife who has a 14, not so much. We both believe in using devices as long as possible until it makes sense to upgrade. I want tech reviewers to start focusing on differences compared to older devices to show us if a 2 year old device should be replaced.
I'm looking at upgrading from a base iPhone 11 to a 16 pro personally. I don't need the giant screen, but some of the pro features really appeal to me personally, then that phone will last another 5 or so years unless there's a massive improvement suddenly. Before my 11, the phone I had before that was a 6s.
Agreed. I was in the same situation where I had the 14 Pro Max and my wife had the 12 Pro. She was due for an upgrade, I wasn’t. The only reason we upgraded together to the 16 Pro Max was because our carrier was offering some stupid $1k trade in credit deal that made both our upgrades completely free, so I thought I might as well eliminate the only thing in my life that didn’t have USB-C yet. Now we’re synced and will upgrade together in the future.

Right and people think saying that is somehow making excuses for Apple..but when the s25 releases in january having incremental changes no one bitches about samsung..Of course all these companies want you to upgrade every year and spend your money but if Apple really did, as well as samsung, they would offer nearly a decade of OS updates..

I'm approaching phones like Luke. 1. Own a phone till it breaks. 2. Should I repair it or buy a new one? 3. What are the currently best phone options? Each upgrade feels good. Is it the economical best option? It depends. Is it the best ecological option? Nearly (The best one would be: Don't own a phone. But that is just stupid)
This is just how I approach phones in general, the only time I've ever upgraded from a phone that wasn't literally broken was when I swapped from my painfully slow S6 to what I'm using now (Note 9). I didn't even know Linus was using one, I just picked it because it was the newest Samsung that still had a physical fingerprint sensor and an audio jack lol
I tried to use my last phone until it broke, then one day i was told they were not going to support 4G anymore and it was the only reason i didn't use it til it actually broke lmao
I’m usually like that too but I also take the stance I like to upgrade my phone before my current phone drops drastically in value. When I get a $1000 trade in value it makes sense.
Obviously depends on the generation you're jumping from but often I get enough use out of my phones that it kinda just makes it worth eating the value, especially since I've been getting mine open box/second hand instead of trying to buy brand new or something
I was one of the first people in the US to have an LG V60. (Literally first batch shipment to the US) Used it until this year when my buttons fell out and now I have a Nothing Phone 2. I'll probably keep it until it receives no more updates.
Honestly, I think it’s time that technology manufacturers drop the yearly release schedule entirely, it’s incredibly wasteful Every other year would be more than enough
The release schedule depends on the number of users looking to buy new devices. Phones are incredibly high because of the sheer number of users. Look at tablets, and we’re already looking at 2-4 year release cycles.
i would say, wjust upgrade the phones on the fly like cars are done, apple is the only one who can do it. like selle the same product but dont wait for the date, just if its done continune and do a blog post. like its fine

@@dollymix5 I shoot a lot of short (1-2min) videos in 4K, and my god it takes forever to upload. For most sharing that isn't on youtube, I export at 1080P, because a nice 1080P image still looks pretty crisp on phones, and that's what lots of Social Media does anyways. Storage is also a problem. Many terabytes already full with 4K video. 8K would only make it worse, especially for the average person, or streaming the average internet connection. It'll be another 5-10 years before all of the supporting infrastructure can handle 8K as "the norm".
I agree yet at the same time if the features actually present are what they value (Apple's ecosystem stuff for example), or if they value the fact that Apple harvests less data than google and samsung etc does on their phones, can you really blame someone for wanting to try an iphone?
@dolurosu apple does not harvest less data than samsung. That data harvesting is usually happening through the google browser, which will absolutely happen on iphones. There are also plenty of phones less than $800 that provide the vast majority of Apple's ecosystem features (Samsung, Huawei). That does not give an excuse for the bad value.
I don't understand why people act as if Apple is forcing them to buy their phones. Linus even addressed this IN THIS VIDEO. Do you also get mad at Ferrari for selling million dollar cars? Or Louis Vitton for selling overpriced handbags? Apple has always been the premium option, if you don't think it's worth it then don't buy it.
I'm using a 12 Pro Max right now, and I still love it. I've had it since November of 2020. It's got some chips, and scratches, but it still works really well for everything I'm using it for. I might upgrade to a new phone in the next 3-4 years. So i'll have had this phone for 7-8 years by then. And I'm excited to see what phones are on offer at that point. Honestly right now, the things I'm most looking forward to are USB C, high refresh display, and higher nit screens. Everything beyond that is great, cool. But even if i upgraded now, i would see a massive improvement compared to what i currently have. But i would still like to get as much out of my current phone as possible because 1. it will save me money... and 2. I'll be upgrading to a better phone the longer i wait.
like ppl are upgrading their tv's and laptops every year? its BS. stop wanting to upgrade your phone every 1-2 years, 3-4 years should be new standard. im happy to upgrade from 12 to 16pro. not because i even need to... the 12 is still doing its job fine with IOS 18 installed just now..
yeah that's what i've been trying to get across to people. i'm also sitting on a 12 right now and i *might* make the jump to a 15 *if* the AI Siri is actually worth it. otherwise i'll just sit on it for a couple more years until there's something that i want on a newer model.
You can. If your iPhone trickles down to family members. From 15 all the way down to 11… Nobody tells this, mate. BTW if I do so, it is my money, it is my hobby. Just like that.
Only upgrading because this is likely the last year my iPhone 12 is worth the $1000 promo trade in at my carrier towards the 16 Pro Max. Upgrading from a 12 pro max to a 16 pro max for $200 + $35 activation fee is pretty great. Waiting another year would bring its promo trade in value down to like $700 instead of the $1k.
only reason I'm upgrading from the 14p to 15-16 is because my contract expires and I got it on upfront edge (leasing with some credit). but if i'm being real with you, it's the first time I've ever been content with a phone after 2 years. Kinda sad to upgrade lol. but it's also $550 to buy out for me, which ain't happening.
thing i want iphones to have: - a better keyboard - clipboard history - a select all option when selecting text - long press on text that show a context menu to select a text - when i disable wifi/bluetooth, disable the damn thing
I understand the logical argument of, “how often do you transfer files off iPhone with USB 2.0 speeds” or “most people can’t tell the difference between 60hz and higher.” I would argue, how does Apple justify charging the same price as competitors’ phones who DO have higher refresh screens and better USB-C capabilities at the same or lower price point? It’s not an issue of “oh you’ll never use that probably” it’s an issue of Apple not offering the same value for money (hardware speaking) that other phones do. If the average person is given two phones in front of them, both costing $800, and one has 60hz refresh/lower storage/USB 2.0/less customization options and other has 90-120hz/higher storage/USB 3.0-4.0/more custom… why would you not choose Phone B and get more for your money?
Exactly. The problem isn't really on the specs itself, it's on Apple's anti-consumer moves. Apple could literally spend 10 more minutes designing the phone to deliver a 120hz or higher USB speed, but they don't, because the people are so complacent. The exact same thing happened with the headphone jacks and chargers. Same price for less features, since people keep defending Apple with the most nonsensical arguments.
Harware is far from the only thing to consider though. You should also be considering data collection in your cost comparison. At least with google pixels you can install a custom rom like GrapheneOS which makes it the most private choice, but only a minority of people will be willing to go that far. Google collects tons of data through their Google Play Services on top of their other apps, and Google Play Services are pretty much unavoidable on most android phones. Samsung also collects tons of telemetry data, on top of Google's harvesting through Google Play services which are on Samsung phones. Apple has been shown to collect data too, but has been found to be far less. Don't get me wrong, I hate that Apple doesn't put 120Hz on their base phone, but data collection should be an important point here because your data is valuable, and should be considered a part of the cost of a phone nowadays, especially such a device that likely goes everywhere with you. Not everything is as simple as 'more hardware features for less = better'.
@@dolurosu That is a great point, and the unfortunate reality is that most people don't care about their privacy. Of course, I'm not implying that privacy isn't important just because the general populous doesn't care. And although I agree with your take on Apple and Android privacy, I'd argue that although Apple has better "stock" privacy, Android phones have better "configurable" privacy. Which is to say, an iPhone has moderately good privacy out-of-the-box, but anybody moderately competent enough in technology can configure an Android phone to be more private than an iPhone.
As someone who used to work for Apple, a majority of Apples customers are upgrading from devices that are 2 to 5 years old. Yes you’re gonna have people who upgrade every year. But that’s not the norm
Used Android for over 8 years, used Apple for 5. Like them both for all different reasons. People will always find something to put somebody down for. No matter how stupid they are compared to you. Just keep not giving AF about everyone else’s opinions.

Currently on an iPhone and yeah, like them both for different reasons and I am no longer a power user I used to be on android; life has moved on. Once I rock my iPhone for the next few years, I’ll probably go back to android, depends on circumstances and what’s available for what I need.
What pisses me off is when people say that iPhone is for people that don’t know about tech it’s ignorant and basically insulting to iPhone users, that’s basically saying iPhone users are dumb and that’s not the case. The perspective most people should start adopting to not be completely disappointed with new phone drops (not folding or a new form factor): there’s no reason to upgrade every generation or even every other generation, and no one needs a pro iPhone unless they are getting it for the express purpose of filming media on a smartphone specifically.

On a 13 pro max, had it in the cart but decided to give it one more year. Camera upgrades, the Dynamic Island seems actually useful (I use a TON of timers so it being persistent on the screen is nice) plus the button customization, usb c, and shutter all seems to add up well but hopefully one more year will feel like a newer, different phone. Plus giving AI some time to cook I think is in order. I know it sounds weird but, sometimes when they add features in software that I have access to even on my current phones I tend not to use them until the hardware changes and I take time to experiment with stuff.

Physics question, when you cancel out a wave, where does the energy go? After all, energy can neither be created nor destroyed. Does it just become heat?
The displacement is what is cancelled. The energy can still be stored or transformed into something else. Ie. A helical wave met with another inverse helical wave can be transformed into a sinusoidal wave.
It’s like a particle and an anti particle colliding with each other, they both cease to exist. What happens is one wave is displacing up, another is displacing down, and if they collide then the net energy is 0. I agree with both of you - I am finally upgrading from a 12 Pro Max because my battery is at 73% max capacity and the new iphones are worth upgrading to. If youre a person with a 15 pro, you should realise the 16 standard is likely not an upgrade from you at all, and the pro wont be enough Apple have probably the best resale of older generations to businesses - supporting their ecosystem is in their interest and moving people from older phones to new ones is a priority for them You dont need to buy every generation- same goes with things like GPUs. I dont need to go from a 3080ti until the 5000 series has an offer that is equal or better at higher efficiency and less power draw. You dont have to consume
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is the first iPhone screen I’ve ever managed to scratch. I have always used the Apple leather case without a screen protector. I’ve had almost every iPhone since the 3GS.
Sounds more like bad luck than anything. I've never damaged a phone badly either, at least since the smartphone era, but still put a screen and camera protector on. But in the year since I've has my Z Fold 5 I've managed to smash the camera protectors twice. Haven't done anything different, just had bad luck.
@@MarngelThis is it tor so many enthusiasts. Used to be an Android die hard (Pixel 3 XL my beloved) but switched to the Apple ecosystem around the iPhone 12 because I was just bored of Android and wanted a change.
They consistently showed performance improvements in the presentation against iPhone 12 and 12 Pro. The Apple website had a performance comparison that defaults to iPhone 12. That is actually the generation I have. They are clearly targeting people using 4 generations old hardware. It seems like Apple is also aware that you don't need to buy a new phone every year and people aren't doing that.
I also was pretty split between the 16 and 16 pro. In the end I decided to go with the pro, to make the upgrade from my normal 11 count, and because I didn’t wanted to be mad at myself at cheaping out a few years from now. In general, I went with iPhone to not have to worry about upgrading my phone every other year. But at this point the upgrades made enough sense to me to go for it. (Note: at the time writing I haven’t yet received my new phone)
I feel you should only upgrade your phone when it dies, the screen repair is the same cost or similar to buying a new phone, your current phone is older then 9 years, and if you need it for a good reason like using the iPhone 16 pro as a camera more then a phone
The only reason I still buy the Pro is because of the 5x zoom lens. As someone who’s visually impaired, I use that zoom for better magnification of things.
I have an Iphone 11 Pro max. I will probably still wait for 17 or 18? The $1700 CAD sucks, but honestly, I spent $3,000 for a DSLR camera about a year before I bought my iphone... The photos the iphone took were almost as good as the A7III, but with 90% of the processing already done for me. I hardly ever use the DSLR anymore because it's so bulky and processing takes so much time.
“When the new phone launches, I have to decide if I should buy the new one or replace the battery of my existing phone” yes!!! That’s it. Thanks for saying it
My 14 pro max is going strong still, but battery life is about 85% and noticeably more sluggish these days. New battery tho should make it feel new again, should be good till at least next year
@@mcintosh.motors unless you’re really excited about the new AI features. I’m not that excited about those to be honest. I’ll stick to my 13 for another year

This is honestly the best take ever. You don't need to have the latest products all the time. You don't need to upgrade year over year. Social media seems to be thinking everyone iphone user owns a 15 or 15 pro.
The point is that whenever you decide to upgrade you will be able to get a phone with the newest hardware from, at most, 1 year ago. If they only released a new phone every 3 years, and you want to upgrade 2 and a half years into the cycle you would have to buy a 2 and a half year old phone or wait another 6 months.
uhhh noo? The point is YOU don't have to do annual product upgrade. Apple and other phone companies can release phones anytime they want. Doesn't mean you have to upgrade. Its just options for other people that need and upgrade.
The reason I left iOS for Android. Apple simply would not let me use all that expensive storage how I wanted, so I downgraded to an old Samsung with an SD card slot and I'm happy as a pig in mud. Battery is crap tho!!
It's funny because I haven't felt the need to buy a new phone since leaving Android. I bought a 12Pro Max second hand at that and it's been a flawless experience. I'm only considering upgrading because it's my none USB-C device and the newer video capabilities would be nice to have since I do use my phone for professional video work from time to time.
As a 15 Pro Max user, the actual advantages to the iPhone Pro over a Plus: - Slightly improved performance means less heat overall for slightly better battery longevity. - Slightly bigger battery so long-term degradation results in more available power over time. - Double base storage - 20 Gbps USB-C instead of only 5 Gbps. Being able to copy massive files in seconds is a really nice feature. Docks also work so you can have high speed accessories and storage in one cable. It also outputs HDR out of the USB port when connected to a screen. - I prefer to use the 5X optical zoom, it's really nice for taking nice looking photos whenever possible, and the 25x digital zoom is impressive and usable. - Always-on display is nice to be able to glance on it without having to wake up, saves time and effort. you can configure the lock screen. - Bigger display means more or bigger content And no, i'm not upgrading because that's stupid. I got mine from an 8, so i probably only going to upgrade after 2030.
I feel like the thing people are missing is that every good tech content creator should experience everything companies have to offer. I have a sneaking suspicion Linus will probably not like the iPhone, but it would be negligent of him as a tech content creator to ignore it in favor of his bias.
He daily drive the iPhone 6s and 7 before and his two main complaints were moving home screen apps and t9 dialing. Both have been added. I think he would love the new iPhones

I bought my iphone Xs max when it launched back in 2018 for around 1460 euro's (256gb). During the years, the backglass shattered and Face ID stopped working (Some moisture came in contact with the sensor), but apart from that the phone still works great. The phones are built to last (up to a certain degree) and I think that for the average person its nonsense to upgrade the phone every 2-3 years. people usually upgrade their phones when the battery starts to degrade a lot, but did you know that the degrading process starts to level off after a certain point? Apple recommends to replace the battery when the battery health hits 80%. In my experience I can share that the battery health on my iphone has leveled of at 78%... and has stayed there for 3 years already.
I’d really love some feedback. I’m on an iPhone XR so I kinda feel like it’s finally time for an update. I’m interested in the Apple intelligence. Between iPhone 15 pro and the regular iPhone 16, which should I go for?
That's spooky... I was literally just about to head out the door and happened to pause it on 14:54, I read this, did a double take at the time, then at his face. While I was not disappointed, it still kinda creeped me out.
I love my 15 pro, I hate what apple does sometimes tho. My grandma had a iPad Air 16gb, and just bought a used 32gb iPad. She never updated her software to the latest version that allows direct transfer to the new device so I went to update her old iPad and she didn’t have enough storage. The issue was that even though I deleted all her random apps and large files that were just taking up space, the FIFTY photos she had was all that was left and she still didn’t have enough space to update!
I 100% agree with your take ! But if the s pen is a feature you like and you like your note why not take a s24 Ultra (because it has a lower price now and starts at 256gb) or wait 3-4 months for the s25 ultra ?
I have an iPhone 12 pro and i used to upgrade every two years but now iv decided to wait every four years and im now getting the iphone 16 pro mainly because not much of a difference other than the 12’s were known for terrible battery life
Same on the four year cycle, except battery life wasn’t ever really a major problem with my 12 Pro Max. When it dropped below full day usage for me, AppleCare gave me a battery swap (local Apple Store did it in less than an hour…). Four years of incremental changes add up. Do I need the new phone? No. Am I getting it because I want and trying to reason it by telling myself the trade-in discount being a sweet spot now? Definitely. But I will wait for the mad dash to abate and all those who desperately need the new one are satisfied.

You should look into Nothing Phone 2 and possibly Nothing Phone 3. I also went from being a power user that wanted it all the best things on my phone, to a user that uses their phone to do basic things like paying, browsing, watching videos, texting and calling. I still take pictures ofc and the camera is pretty good tbh. I am in love with the aesthetics of this phone, it has so much style!
22:32 saying it's a consumer protection issue is so egregious and just shows hoe negative ppl want to be they just feel like they need to have an opinion on everything new and care about it when you could just let things be, absolutely no reason to be this negative to the point you're calling it consumer malpractice.
For someone who can have anything at any point, it makes sense to buy generic phone, based on the day-to-day use case scenario. You can record videos on cinema level cameras if you need, just ask your team for help. If at any point you'll feel, that the phone is limiting you, at no extra cost to you, you can upgrade it to the most spec one, by grabbing it from your company's warehouse shelf. For any one else, the FOMO is the problem. Person spends half of its salary on a phone which he will be stuck with for at least another year. The difference in price is very significant, so when they give advice which to get to someone who can afford the top one, its always the most capable one - but this advice based on their personal circumstances, not the person's who is asking for advice.
Annual upgrades make zero sense in the market. Heck, 2 year upgrades are becoming a bit less justifiable. I’m only upgrading to an iPhone 16 Pro for the USB-C, Apple intelligence, and the fact my battery life on my iPhone 14 has gone to shit.
Not going to lie over the last 2 years I’ve noticed android users getting louder and louder about hating on apple. Its getting a bit pathetic at this point when phones in general are all fantastic android and apple.
I guess Android hate was more in person. Hated for disrupting text chains, low perceived value of Android phones and disgruntled Apple users when an exclusive feature of their ecosystem doesn't cross-platform. These are more societal issues. Apple hate from Android users are more like they're expensive and this feature already exists in Android OEMs. Societal issues are unlikely to end but hating on phones is silly.
Then you must have just started following phones 2 years ago. Android hate has been a HUGE thing from apple users for years and the android community just finally got sick of it and started firing back. I mean there have been stories about how apple people won't date someone because they have an android device, or people have removed android users from group chats because of the bubble color. Trust me, the iphone users hate android users a lot more than vice versa.

Isn’t the 16pro 1000$ and not 1200$? The iPhone has been a 1000$ phone since the day of IPhone 10 (X), which was 7 years ago. Considering everything going on with the economy I find it pretty interesting and impressive that it has stayed the same 1000$ for so long.
@@rustyshackleford2841 no they wouldn't, they would just lower their profit margin. apple phones cost $500 to make and sell it for over a 1000 same with Samsung.
I am still using the iPhone 10s, and it doesn’t need to be replaced. I just can’t be bothered to pay all that money to get a phone that does the same thing. Calls, texts, apps, media, it’s the same. All the new features are only marginally compelling. Titanium is cool, better camera is okay, tougher glass is great, USB C is nice, more buttons could be useful. Ultimately the only reason I am considering it is better battery life (mine is 77% of original capacity), and more storage (I have 64gb). And like you guys talked about, the min storage hasn’t improved that much. The battery life hasn’t improved that much. Personally it’s the details that actually matter that aren’t compelling on the new models. If they dropped a new model that significantly improved battery life I would consider it even if there were no other changes. People who upgrade every year shouldn’t be complaining about the price considering they aren’t made to be replaced every year. They are expensive, but if it lasts 7 years I don’t really care.
Went from an 11 to a 16 Pro... The coolest thing for me are the camera system upgrades. You have so much flexibility to shoot a variety of pictures. For most people it saves you buying a camera. There's a ton of stuff I'm enjoying. Another thing is not choking or slowing down on complicated web pages, for example RUclips Desktop.
11 Pro here as well. I’m still mostly content with it. But I do kinda want usb c instead of a darn lightening cable and the ability to side load apps without a hacky process would be nice. So I’m not sure if I’ll get another iPhone or an Android.
My 11 pro logic board died randomly on its own. When I got a replacement through Verizon’s warranty, they were only able to provide a refurbished model. That was my sign to upgrade; it’s been a year and the battery is already at 80% health. Going for the 16 pro with base storage because I want to try all the stuff I’ve skipped over. 120hz, thread radio, always on display. Yeah it’s a bit of a waste of money over the base model but I have the money and unless Apple release something game-changing, I’ll probably keep it for another 6-7 years
Why are they more reasonable and aware about the new iphones than the whole MKBHD crew, which half of the time don´t even know anything about the objects they talk about in their podcast.
As an iphone 14 pro max user, my next phone is not going to be an iphone. Reasons and annoyances: 1. text selection is garbage, i want to click middle of the word, not the end, not the start and i know space button works for that. 2. Personal hotspot, randomly turns off while ACTIVELY using it for videos on pc, gaming. It shows its on, but its not, no fix for that. 3. When opening pdf files for work in messages, if the screen locks up it turns off the file. Cant copy from pdf too. 4. Most of the free apps in the app store are subscription scams(i dont remember this as a big problem on android, maybe its changed in like 4 years) 5. Music stops and just turns off after opening camera and going to video, have to go back to app to turn it on again 6. No volume sliders for different types of sources, music, phone etc. 7. No lock to one camera for close or far zoomed in subjects, camera just jumping from one to another and doesnt know what to do with focus 8. No button to turn off keyboard, clicking outside of the keyboard sometimes doesnt do anything, so the keyboard stays 9. No global back button, atleast they would make a optional swipe gesture to go back instead of app switch on the bottom bar
As someone who just switched from Android to Apple, #4 is SO accurate! Subscription apps are getting more popular on the Play store, but NOTHING like Apple! It took me an insane amount of digging to find reasonable alternatives to utility apps I had on my android. There are still some functionality that I am missing. #6 too, apple NEEDS to redesign how it manages volume, it makes no sense. I help my stepdad fix his mute problems all the time because it is so unintuitive!
I only read first point, you just lack of iPhone knowledge. Long press space bar and use it as a mouse on your iPhone to select words precisely. It’s game changer. I didn’t read the rest of your post, no time
I haven't been excited about smartphone tech for like 7-8 years. It used to be so much fun to be a power user and flash, tinker, and customize to try to overcome the limitations of devices and push boundaries of what they could do during the early days. It used to feel like we were truly living in the future to see the massive improvements and experimentation year over year. 2 years was an eternity in device innovation. Now it's just a couple extra features and a slightly better camera.
Also very worth noting that most people don't actually pay the full price of their phone if they're buying though their cell provider. A lot of people just have a contract with their provider and every so often they'll say "oh hey im due for an upgrade", trade their old phone in for credit towards a new one, and then make monthly payments on a new phone. Some even allow you to upgrade your phone after you've paid 50% of the balance, meaning that for those people they only ever pay half of the MSRP. Very rarely have I ever seen someone buy a phone at MSRP directly from the manufacturer.
You guys destroyed every other company when their phone was having a feature that is going to release 6 months later and then you start go on and praise iPhone for the same thing, yes u r biased, u want to switch to iPhone and you are convincing yourself with praising the phone and closing your eyes to the bad things
Wow they were very obviously not prepared to talk iPhone and Apple in general. Lack of knowledge of new features and differences between pro and non pro…
4S -> 7 Plus -> XS Max -> 13 Pro Max -> 15 Pro Max (just for USBC) With the exception of 13 to 15, they all felt like huge upgrades. I could have kept my 13 for a few more years but the USBC got me to upgrade. You don’t need a new phone every year. The yearly updates aren’t really meant to get the previous generation to upgrade, it’s just meant to make the upgrade for 3-4 year old phones a bit better.
Such a great take! For LTT to be a big tech guy, he’s so humble in his mentality here. We are so used to nitpicking every last spec that it makes folks unhappy. He’s right about 60 hz displays. You know who would care more about that and notice? Pros. Power users. That’s why it’s on the Pro models! USB speeds. So what if it has 2.0!? How many people even export from their phone?? Phones have matured so much that the base phones already outperform the pro models from years ago. We don’t need all that functionality! I would lose my mind being LTT and having to deal with all the public negativity and whining.
I work in electronic sales and I love asking people who are interested the pro models whether they’ve used pro raw, pro res, log or heck even the telephoto lens on their current phone even once and you wouldn’t believe how many people DONT KNOW how to change camera lenses. It’s baffling. They still buy the pro though.
the only reason i’d pick the pro over the normal one is because of the telephoto lens. the only reason im looking to upgrade is bc my phone is 4 years old. i’ve done a battery replacement already and it didnt really even help that much
bummer that the printer video did badly, i actually find it really helpful, it made me realize that i should go for a toner one instead of an liquid ink one
Yep, absolutely. I stopped buying inkjet printer around 25 years ago. I now have an OKI MC873 (the option with four paper trays).
What’s the video called
Same, I feel like useful and informative videos often do worse than entertainment ones unfortunately
I watched it, and liked most of it. I wish they had included the cheapest Epson Eco Tank printer (2850) rather than just the most expensive consumer model (4850). Especially since the other printers they included were all used, and/or cheap.

@@13Hyrule I just upgraded from the 11pro to the 16 pro after 5 years and outside of minor annoyances that are fixed by turning off settings I'm happy. My 11 started to be glitchy, freeze regularly, battery sucked. So the upgrade just made sense. I do that with all my phones, keep it till it litterally wears out and then get the latest and greatest.
It’s crazy that people think they need to upgrade they phone every year and get mad when the next phone isn’t that different 😂
yeah... upgrade every 3-4 years and you will see some good change. 😂 And save money too
Right and people think saying that is somehow making excuses for Apple..but when the s25 releases in january having incremental changes no one bitches about samsung..Of course all these companies want you to upgrade every year and spend your money but if Apple really did, as well as samsung, they would offer nearly a decade of OS updates..

Honestly, I think it’s time that technology manufacturers drop the yearly release schedule entirely, it’s incredibly wasteful
Every other year would be more than enough
The release schedule depends on the number of users looking to buy new devices. Phones are incredibly high because of the sheer number of users. Look at tablets, and we’re already looking at 2-4 year release cycles.
While I agree I’m sure their stock price wouldn’t

For most sharing that isn't on youtube, I export at 1080P, because a nice 1080P image still looks pretty crisp on phones, and that's what lots of Social Media does anyways. Storage is also a problem. Many terabytes already full with 4K video. 8K would only make it worse, especially for the average person, or streaming the average internet connection. It'll be another 5-10 years before all of the supporting infrastructure can handle 8K as "the norm".
I don’t think LMG is big enough to be an “empire”. They’re more of a media fiefdom, or at most a minor outlying media kingdom.
Those Features aren’t necessary AT ALL, but for a phone starting at $800 missing those features is what’s wrong….
Waiting another year would bring its promo trade in value down to like $700 instead of the $1k.
i still use my Xiaomi Redmi 9 that's 4 years old! It runs well, battery is good thus i see no reason to upgrade
only reason I'm upgrading from the 14p to 15-16 is because my contract expires and I got it on upfront edge (leasing with some credit).
but if i'm being real with you, it's the first time I've ever been content with a phone after 2 years. Kinda sad to upgrade lol. but it's also $550 to buy out for me, which ain't happening.

In some directions, it is cancelled out and there is no local energy. In other directions, they constructively interfere and you get twice the energy.
It’s like a particle and an anti particle colliding with each other, they both cease to exist.
What happens is one wave is displacing up, another is displacing down, and if they collide then the net energy is 0. One of the waves can be considered “negative” and the other “positive” and combined they equal 0. The air stops moving and as far as your ear is concerned there is no wave.
The information is still existing, as if either wave ceases to exist the other will pop back into existence.
For a more in depth explanation look up videos on destructive interference.
I would guess that the object that cancels out the energy wave absorbs the energy?
I agree with both of you - I am finally upgrading from a 12 Pro Max because my battery is at 73% max capacity and the new iphones are worth upgrading to.

As someone who’s visually impaired, I use that zoom for better magnification of things.
my android is 30X zoom

I’ll stick to my 13 for another year
I love that these guys are android/ios agnostic. I use apple and non-apple tech every day: I'm not interested in turning my purchase decisions into right/left politics. I want what's good and I appreciate people with a similar mindset.
This is honestly the best take ever. You don't need to have the latest products all the time. You don't need to upgrade year over year. Social media seems to be thinking everyone iphone user owns a 15 or 15 pro.
5:30 So what you're saying without intending to, is that there's no point to the annual product cycle?
The point is that whenever you decide to upgrade you will be able to get a phone with the newest hardware from, at most, 1 year ago. If they only released a new phone every 3 years, and you want to upgrade 2 and a half years into the cycle you would have to buy a 2 and a half year old phone or wait another 6 months.
uhhh noo? The point is YOU don't have to do annual product upgrade. Apple and other phone companies can release phones anytime they want. Doesn't mean you have to upgrade. Its just options for other people that need and upgrade.
The same people saying nothings changed are the exact same people who switched from the Galaxy S23 Ultra to the S24 Ultra🤣🤣🤣
When did you last connect your phone to a pc to transfer files? Me: Yesterday!
I have not connected my phone to a computer in like five years.
@@jimmyboy1582 Maybe you don't need to transfer files?
The reason I left iOS for Android. Apple simply would not let me use all that expensive storage how I wanted, so I downgraded to an old Samsung with an SD card slot and I'm happy as a pig in mud. Battery is crap tho!!
It's funny because I haven't felt the need to buy a new phone since leaving Android. I bought a 12Pro Max second hand at that and it's been a flawless experience. I'm only considering upgrading because it's my none USB-C device and the newer video capabilities would be nice to have since I do use my phone for professional video work from time to time.
As a 15 Pro Max user, the actual advantages to the iPhone Pro over a Plus:
- Slightly improved performance means less heat overall for slightly better battery longevity.
- Slightly bigger battery so long-term degradation results in more available power over time.
- Double base storage
- 20 Gbps USB-C instead of only 5 Gbps.
- Bigger display means more or bigger content
And no, i'm not upgrading because that's stupid. I got mine from an 8, so i probably only going to upgrade after 2030.
The non pro models has USB 2.0 speeds. So 480 mbps. The pros only have 10 gbps speeds.
@@d24 ok? But since apple has now completely copied android why would you even bother with an iphone anymore? its exactly the same as any other phone

DBrand is so not going to let Linus use his phone without a case
You know, Steve Jobs used to release an "S' version if there aren't really drastic changes. You can only blame the phone for being too optimized to do it like old times

Trust me, the iphone users hate android users a lot more than vice versa.
well no apple is not fantastic with thei 60hz screens also i think you should hate on apple its justified. i had iphones macbooks everything btw
I got a pro max 120hz i don’t really care what the cheap phones have. Most people cant even tell the difference and if the can they are buying the pro.

Well there's somebody defending $1,000 price phone!?! People really don't care about their fellow consumers.

@@rustyshackleford2841 no they wouldn't, they would just lower their profit margin. apple phones cost $500 to make and sell it for over a 1000
same with Samsung.
My 11 Pro Max is starting to get a little long in the tooth. I’m looking to upgrade.
11 Pro here. Mine is starting to slug on battery and LTE signal. I’m upgrading to the 16 pro max and I know it’s gonna be a nice upgrade.
Yeah it’s a bit of a waste of money over the base model but I have the money and unless Apple release something game-changing, I’ll probably keep it for another 6-7 years
I’m on 11 Pro and it works fine 🤷🏽♂️. Granted I replaced the battery recently too
Why are they more reasonable and aware about the new iphones than the whole MKBHD crew, which half of the time don´t even know anything about the objects they talk about in their podcast.
As an iphone 14 pro max user, my next phone is not going to be an iphone. Reasons and annoyances:
1. text selection is garbage, i want to click middle of the word, not the end, not the start and i know space button works for that.
2. Personal hotspot, randomly turns off while ACTIVELY using it for videos on pc, gaming. It shows its on, but its not, no fix for that.
3. When opening pdf files for work in messages, if the screen locks up it turns off the file. Cant copy from pdf too.
4. Most of the free apps in the app store are subscription scams(i dont remember this as a big problem on android, maybe its changed in like 4 years)
5. Music stops and just turns off after opening camera and going to video, have to go back to app to turn it on again
6. No volume sliders for different types of sources, music, phone etc.
7. No lock to one camera for close or far zoomed in subjects, camera just jumping from one to another and doesnt know what to do with focus
8. No button to turn off keyboard, clicking outside of the keyboard sometimes doesnt do anything, so the keyboard stays
#6 is one of the biggest things I miss from Android. Wish ios would just add it atp it seems so obvious.
You will have fun with android... 😉

If you're going to give the iPhone 16 a try, then it's only fair that you give the S25 a shot when it comes out.
4S -> 7 Plus -> XS Max -> 13 Pro Max -> 15 Pro Max (just for USBC)
With the exception of 13 to 15, they all felt like huge upgrades. I could have kept my 13 for a few more years but the USBC got me to upgrade. You don’t need a new phone every year. The yearly updates aren’t really meant to get the previous generation to upgrade, it’s just meant to make the upgrade for 3-4 year old phones a bit better.
Apple doesn't talk to you because you know technology and they know marketing. You have nothing in common to talk about.
I think the 5x Zooms are the main selling point.

It’s baffling. They still buy the pro though.
the only reason i’d pick the pro over the normal one is because of the telephoto lens. the only reason im looking to upgrade is bc my phone is 4 years old. i’ve done a battery replacement already and it didnt really even help that much
