for offensive teams i like how leech seed doesn't outright do the sweeping, but they give the setup sweepers the longevity necessary to boost enough to win
It's also similar to hazards or (in my opinion) even like a setup move in some ways. Let me explain: It gives you the ranges on PkMN switching into my Torterra's Stealth Rock. Actually, call me crazy all you want, Leech Seed (+ Stealth Rock) REPLACES BOTH Swords Dance AND the unreliable SYNTHESIS.
Sand Veil Cacturne is actually insane. Sucker Punch, Focus Punch, Leech Seed, Spikes, Encore, Substitute It's crazy how well all of these moves work together, there's endless combinations!! Also Dark Pulse, Seed Bomb, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, Focus Blast, Synthesis and the Hidden Power types still exist additionally, so feel free to tell everybody to cook up something cool with this cactus in Gen 3, 4 or even 5! *Forgot Swords Dance, add that to the first cluster of moves
Some of the Volatile statues would make the opposing mon want to switch out, which would rack up even more chip damage through the hazards that r layed down & I've made a niche team w that strat in mind & ofc phasing moves as well. It includes: Leech Seed, Perish Song, Yawn, Disable, Encore, Confuse Ray, Curse (Ghost-type) & Soak. A few others that I couldnt able to add: Torment, Attract, Embargo (these r hard to make use of anyway).

@@pikminologueraisin2139 I don't know if you're for real, but I'll answer as if you are. Scale shot is dragon-type bullet seed, except it also lowers the defense and increases the speed of the user by one stage. Terastallisation is a gen 9 mechanic that allows one mon to change its typing once per battle to any of the 18 types while keeping its original STABs and gaining the STAB of the tera type. If a mon terastallises to one of its original types it gains an adaptability boost. Terablast is a 80BP special normal type move, unless it's used by a terastallised mon. Its type then turns into the tera type, and the category changes according to the users highest attacking stat (physical/special). Stellar type is a convoluted new terastallisation type, which: 1) does not change the original type(s), 2) gives each of the mons moves a once per type per battle a boost (meaning if a mon has knock off, sucker punch and iron head, clicking knock off after teraing gives it a one time boost, but clicking sucker punch after will not be boosted, while iron head will) , 3) gives access to stellar tera blast. This tera blast hits terastallised mons for supereffective damage, and all other mons for neutral damage. It also drops both attack and special attack by one stage.
I didn't hear you mention this, but for Gen III OU specifically, Leech Seed, particularly on Celebi, is an invaluable measure against the nightmarish bulky set-up sweeper pair of Suicune and Snorlax, effectively ruining them the moment it's planted. Also, on the same token as the Substitute user Leech Seed'ing, you can also Leech Seed *Substitute users* to also ruin whatever they're trying to accomplish, like a Baton Pass. Finally, I've been rolling with Leech Seed Roar Venusaur in fact for about a month or so now and have been mostly adoring it. I don't like Celebi so I wanted a Grass type for my latest team that could check Zapdos similarly, but Roar is a necessity for preventing it from just Substitute'ing and BP'ing out (which happens all the time). And as I said, it's good as well against Snorlax and/or Suicune, which are always tricky to beat, especially as a pair. For the last 2 slots, I chose Giga Drain for STAB, which helps with healing, and *Toxic* over Sleep Powder since you can't spam sleep, and Toxic allows it to cripple its switch-ins and just generally wear the opposing team down of course. It helps with 1v1s against Blissey and Celebi to some extent, but I pair it with max attack Dugtrio and effectively either Toxic or Leech Seed works at quickly chipping such mons down into range of a KO.
Tropius has a stupid, stupid protect sub seed harvest set which was so annoying in early SV PU and ZU It was so obnoxious and it also wasnt too inconsistent since the grass types in the tier werent strong and the ones which were used were weak to air slash
