I have 2 as monoblocks with my Audiolab 6000a as preamp and they are fantastic! Plenty of power.

for doing dual mono does one have to have a preamp or is that optional?

If mono you can connect the preamp, if dual channel, you can do without it.

@@aiyimaaudio8133when you say we CAN connect the pre-amp, does it mean that we MUST have the pre-amp? Or is it optional? Thanks for your answer ✓

I bought two as mono’s with a Bellari EQ with sealed restored B&O S45 loudspeakers. That Texas Instruments chip sounds great. It sounds way better than the S.M.S.L. Infineon chip.

@@aiyimaaudio8133 My first job was working at an acoustic suspension loudspeaker company called Avid Corporation. Ported and vented designs are great for clubs with DJ’s or live venues. Sealed cabinets are high fidelity IMO. Try doing a video on sealed cabinets only. No one has ever done one that I have seen.

Give us a separate power switch and it's a winner.

The problem with the on/off switch on the volume control is that you need to reset the volume each time you turn the A07Max on.
In normal stereo use, with TV or computer sound this is not really a problem at all.
However you've also produced an amplifier strong enough to be used as a power amplifier for a much "higher end" setup.
For example: I use my A07 (original version) as part of a HTPC driven movies and music system. I have volume control on the wireless keyboard and set the A07's volume control for the highest listening level. From there I control the actual listening volume from my keyboard. When done I simply turn off the amp. In this setup I would not use the A07Max because I would have to reset the maximum volume level every time I turned it on.
For example: in a setup with two (or more) of the A07 Max amps being used as monoblocs, I would use their volume controls to set the maximum listening level, but also to fine tune the balance between the speakers. With the power switch on the volume control, I would have to re-balance them every time I turned my system on. (Imagine this chore with a 7.1 audio system.)
However; with a separate on/off switch I can simply turn everything on and off without disturbing the levels or having to reset them every time, making the setup much more convenient. This also imposes no further difficulty for TV or general use, where the A07 is the only volume control in the system.
So, it makes more sense to have a separate on/off switch. It makes your product more useable in a wider range of applications.

I still prefer the Aiyima A08 Pro which is not mono capable but the tone controls are a plus
