    I watch all your videos (and I bought your book❤️) this video is of particular interest to me today. My daughter gifted me the hot Foil machine, for my 80th birthday, and now I have to get the letters. Today I spent hours trying to find a good set.. Yes they are expensive. I found one set on Amazon but I was hoping you would share where you bought yours. Not sure if this comment will get to you but I'm hoping. 🤞

    Another fine and varied video. Congratulations on the 100K subscriber milestone! You are very patient to do so much trial and error testing on the foil stamping machine. I succeeded in getting my local public library to buy your excellent book (Rapid City, SD) - hope people will buy their own book eventually! I missed seeing Lucy the super guard dog - pet her for me.

    Congrats on 100K! Love your videos.
    After binding a handful of journals, I finally bound one of the thrillers I had written. It has become apparent that I'm going to have to start rounding (and probably backing) since my thrillers are 300+ pages. I've ordered some backing boards.
    How long after gluing the spine should I wait to start rounding?
    Keep up the awesome work!

    • @bittermelonbindery
      @bittermelonbindery  23 дня назад +1

      Ooh that’s exciting. You should round as soon as the glue is dry to the touch! If you wait too long the glue may be too stiff, in which case you can try gently warming it up with a blow dryer/heat gun.

    The machine is a nightmare. It works, but it takes lot of work to make it work. I'd just suggest to place you stamp in the middle of the upper plate for even pressure and distribution, and get the foil from KURZ (Penguin uses Brillianta cloth and KURZ foils that are made for bookcloth - but you have to order larger commercial amounts)

    Hi Chanel ! Congratulations on 100k ❤️, I’m so inspired by your videos that I really wanna bind my own watercolor journal. The pages are 300 gsm, but I’m having trouble deciding on which binding method will be best to help the book lay flat? I guess I can’t do case binding , but I’m not sure of the other options

    Hi Chanel! I really love your videos. I’m watching from Quebec, Canada. Congrats for your 100k. Wow! I’m curious… Where do you find and buy all those lovely papers?

    • @bittermelonbindery
      @bittermelonbindery  6 месяцев назад +2

      If you get the chance, go to Au Papier Japonais in Montreal! They have most of what I use. I get my papers from many places.. The Paper Place (CA), Washi Arts (US), Mulberry Paper and More (US), and any specialty paper shops I find.

    • @jfredmuggs3586
      @jfredmuggs3586 6 месяцев назад +1

      It may sound weird but you can also "make" your own paper! Even Japanese mulberry paper is a lot of work, but very satisfying - add PVA glue for sizing so you can use "wet media" (watercolors, acrylics, etc.) and pen and ink.

      @@jfredmuggs3586 I already made some paper with mixmedia techniques, just to practice. But I’m not very satisfied with the results. The texture and everything. I’ll keep trying some other techniques. Thanks for the ideas. ☺️

      @@annieb.artistezen I hope you keep trying different paper making techniques. I used to live near Minneapolis, MN and I was able to take a number of mini courses in paper making from the Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. They had powerful Hollander "beaters" to break down the cotton linters, denim, plant materials, etc. - the longer you "beat" material, the more fine grained and smooth your final product is. There are some good instruction books out there too!
