basic mod 1: replace the entire cooling system
Yeah but e36 are fuckers when it comes to bleeding them
in the process of that rn
It's really not hard to bleed them at all if you jack the front of the car up. Only time it's a pain is when your high point isn't the bleeder.
done it already, water pump n thermostat. before you peeps start ripping it i would replace that first. aux fan was real pain to get off tho
switch to a euro coolant overflow, much much better haha. also electric fans are a must! Ive killed 3 clutch fans...
E36 suspension.
- When it gets time to replace the track control arms, fit the E30 ones which have solid mounting of the ball joints.
- M3 offset front bushes give more caster and great steering feel. Don't go for PU as they are rubbish and the BMW ones are excellent and quite cheap. (On the E46, use the Z4M bushes. £48 for the pair in the UK.)
- At the rear, older E36 often have worn rear trailing arm bushes (RTAB). Just new standard ones will improve things but again there is an M3 version from the dealer that fits.
- One of the rear bushes at the outer end of one of the arms (can't remember which one: see RealOEM) can be replaced by the M3 balljoint.
- Not for drift stuff but generally increasing the front spring rate and keeping thing slightly nose-high (as for any rear-drive car with front struts) makes it more chuckable and the greater relative compliance at the rear gives good traction.
WOW some fully sick mods there bro! No door cards, plastic wierd gear knob, Fire under the bonnet, creaking steering, dented body work and fully sick stickers on the dash...YOUR THE MAN! I can't wait to do all that stuff to my car! First up I'll buy a hammer to dent the bodywork....
Sounds great, let me know how it goes +TRUTH SEEKER
TRUTH SEEKER WOW! that was a spectacular comment! bet you got a lot of kicks out of that one huh? man I could never be so daring.. if only I could grow a pair and leave comments like that on people's channels but I guess I'm not that jealous enough yet.. maybe I'll go try and practice how to be a little more insecure and I'll try to be just like you one day!
🤣 dying
not everyone is privileged like you buddy, idk if you know this but there are teenagers out there that have to buy their own cars, and lets just say buying a car takes time if your only making 7.50 an hour. so go back to your privileged little hidey hole and stay there.
@@johndoe-vg2hv 7.50 an hour holy shit were do you live. I make 12 and I'm only 17
those stock bmw jacks are death traps....
probably the safest thing about this car.... thats why we all love it
I never got this. It's only a deathtrap if you're jacking in poor conditions, like unlevel surface, without putting chocks on the wheels etc. If you take basic precautions they're fine. I still use mine when I'm doing small jobs like swapping wheels.
me too just some wood under the car so my head doesnt get smashed when the jack fails
I'd never actually get under it on one of these jacks. But I also use it to raise the car enough to get my bigass trolleyjack under lol
All of my friends including myself have wrecked those jacks, they bend very easily ^^
I hope you all enjoyed the video and what do you all think of Mikey's car? Also, the next video on my e36 will be out within the next day or two so stay tuned🖒
Austin Ferguson didn't you get a different short shifter then the one you made a episode for. you got a link on the new one?
I did but they're all essentially the same. Here's a link to the exact one I have now:
m.ebay.com/itm/84-06-E30-E36-E39-E46-M3-M5-MANUAL-GEAR-BOX-PERFORMANCE-SHORT-THROW-SHIFTER-KIT-/232241522867?hash=item3612ac68b3%3Ag%3A-zUAAOSw3v5YpMEQ&_trkparms=pageci%253A4348f59c-2237-11e7-9ca7-74dbd180e0a2%257Cparentrq%253A740cb0fc15b0aa12e88e919bffff9ad9%257Ciid%253A5
gotcha. I got one brand new for cheap but I can ding the bushing that goes in the shift lever
I dig Mikey's ride. It's a lot like mine. Glad he didn't sell it
If you know BMW`s you know that there are no 2.3 engines, just underpowered 2.5.
emm, e30 m3(S14B23)
Jasons Ernests Mazkalnins he's talking about United States market cars
Jasons Ernests Mazkalnins and that's the e30 m3
tyler t 325 have the m50 engine
And 2.8s
I hope you guys aligned it after the camber adjustment, also I suggest you purchase a basic set of toe plates so you can do driveway alignments, plus toe plates will work well with your pit style garage, you can typically get these for $40, Google them and also how to use them on RUclips.
Lastly, that squealing in the front end when you were demonstrating the steering sweep could be a soon-to-be failing balljoint at worst, or just a noisy strut mount.
Do you really have to align it after the camber mod? Or should I even do that at all?
I like how you talk slowly, because you can understand more of what you are saying. Than other youtubers talk really fast. Hope you understand what i ment. ;)
you could put e46 front control arms for more angle and it pushes your tires further out also :)
Lol this might seem kind of weird but I’m just now watching your video (2020) even though this year is really bad I just hope I can at least live more years to get my dream car wich is the bmw e36 idc how many problems it has or what comes to happen in the future if I get one.I just love it so much lol but thanks for the video it will come in handy when I grow older :) I’m (16)
Wishing you started with a old Honda or something. BMW deserve better.
waiting to hear dat turbo...!!!
Same, it's testing my patience.
gonna do that camber mod for an event next weekend, hopefully it works out lol thanks Austin
Did it?
He probably died doing this
@@tinygunner4703 rip 😳
I have a 98 323is too, also in Arctic Silver Metallic, but mines totally stock (except for wheels, M3 Mirrors and side mouldings). it's my daily though so I don't really want to get crazy on the mods, I'd rather just leave it clean and stock for a while.
I will definitely add the washers to mine along with some rack spacers!
Watching during COVID 2021
Awesome video as always man!
The 323i wasn’t called the 325i (even tho it has the 2.5 liter engine) because BMW made the 328i as the top trim level. They felt that customers wouldn’t perceive the 325 and 328 as that different, so they named it the 323 instead to make it obvious as the mid level in between 318 and 328.
They do the same thing today with the 320, 330, and 340. The number doesn’t have anything to do with engine liters anymore but everything to do with trim level.
lmao what. the 325i exists
Thanks for the videos. Keep it up man. I'm watching every video you post.
good to see a fresh build
2-3 degrees of camber 😂😂 more like 0.2-0.3 (no hate, just jokes)
Do m50 intake manifold, schrick camshafts, M3 manifold and m3 cats and let that all set up By a good programmer
you make me want to love my e36 again. Love your videos bud.
well your video made me get some m12 rings and made me sweat for about an hour, and i'm actually gonna do the clutch stop aswell since i have a lot of free movement before the clutch engages, thanks man
I have a totally gutted 323is skid car with a welded 4:10 rear end and it rips!
Can't wait to see the finished productn
what up Austin good to see u again bro!!!!
things not to do
Agree
Just replaced my expansion tank, thermostat, radiator plug, valve cover gasket, and oil filter housing.
why did you need to replace the oil filter housing?
Put headers on it. there isnt headers if there is fire coming out of the block. That will DEFINITELY fry the valves if you run it like that for too long.
same car I have. would love to see more of the mods on it. and the 323is is a 2.5l with just restrictions. not a lot but a few just for economic purposes. the 328i is a 2.8l so its closer to a 325i than anything else. I sold my 325i sedan and the 20 or so hp difference is hard to tell based on the reduced wait of the coupe. 323is can also be converted to a 325i but would not be worth the trouble if your just looking for a few fun skids nothing big leagues. so everyone who thinks these cars are noticeably weaker than 2.5s are wrong. theres no replacement for displacement. and its the same.
Naughty, naughty. Dry steering
the shifter in that car is the same throw as a ebay one. ebay one replicates a m3 one, that has a zf m3 transmission stock(correct me if I'm wrong) all 97+ e36 do besides 318is
If your clutch grabs at the "top" then there's something wrong. I've had 4 e36's and none of them grabbed at the end of the release
Tyler Turnipseed well mine does and so does every other e36 I’ve driven
every cars different lol
Maybe he's never driven a car that engages lower lol
Yo where in NC are y’all I’m out in apex n just bought a 94 325i
Dude, I love your videos. Keep it up.
I recognise those wheels (front ones) had them on my old E34! If the clutch is biting right at the very end then it is worn...they are not like that from new!
i also have a e36 323i 1997 touring, look up the engine specs and the motor code, m52b25 actually have 185hp :)
look forward to your next vids
Why does it creak when turning. Mine does the same can it be a control arm problem?
Why do you have the same shift boot and knob as me I have the 4 star dragon ball on my e36
damn, fire to start out
nice! been looking forward to your vids man! nice content, is it hard to fit the short shift?
Thanks and it isn't too difficult. You will have to go underneath the car though. Other than that it's a piece of cake.
Austin Ferguson sweet cheers mate, inspired me now
thats definitely not 2-3 degrees of camber
smells like some danks in that garage... js
Is this possible to get chamber this easy on e34 too ? Great channel dude ! 👍🏼
I can’t get nuckle separated from the rotor it’s like coming apart but can’t separate it enough to fit a washer
very great.
Love bmw e36 king car
That upcoming video must be a turbo install 🙀
i got the same color as mikeys car. except mines a 328is. swapped in a m3 trunk 2
Change the strut mounts and front end joints they squeaking bad.
broke the wheel bolt because anti-seize, bolts come out nice and smooth once broke free
I got 323i like mike.. but its auto and 4 doors it has been from one mechanic to another fixing the engine.... it currently pushing the engine oil up to the dipstick... well still checking what might cause that... mean while how do u increase the tyre turning like that
Hi! I didn't understand the clutch mod
What do you mean with BMW clutches engage on the top? Unless its REALLY worn out it should engage on the very bottom. Mine engages as soon as I barely release my foot.
Also how on earth you managed to get those stickers on the dash? My dash is facelift dash and it has some relief and nothing sticks for long.
nice vid men!
Any one else see the fire when he started up the white bimmer 😂
what Exhaust does He have? really like the sound and would want it for my 96 328i
very nice
I like Mikey, he's shy... why can't you be shy and run away from the camera Austin? lel
hey man very useful video thanks! just want to check did you put 1 or 2 of the m12 washers on each front knuckle? thanks!
No problem and just one washer per bolt.
Austin Ferguson thanks my dude 👊
Austin, how did you separate the knuckle from the suspension? Mines super hard to separate and only getting 2mm max and can't fit a washer in :(
Are you welding his diff before you put it in your car or am I missing something?
How did you get the washer in there my strut won't separate from the knuckle
You put the tires on the wrong way 😂😂
What height should the the clutch stop be adjusted from the floor?
50K subs hair reveal?
I am currenly working on my bmw z3 1998. Can i compare the parts and tech to a e36
my car doesn't start when the weather gets warmer when I start it for smell reason it starts shaking and dies until I give it gas and works perfect can someone help
AMF, MAF, Throttle , ICV, CCV enough reasons ? clean them all
Chevk ur air intake make sure it didnt come lose
g n lol yep have had the same problem.!
air intake problem, mine was before the box of the filter to the plastic pipe that goes to the masks. (if u havent solved it yet)
Sorry I just found this. I have a 2002 325I first one. Can this work on it?
Do you remember what size the washers are? I just don't feel like taking my shit apart to find out and then put it back on and drive to the store and then do it again hahahaha
They're just M12's and been there done that haha +LLS skatemedia
Austin Ferguson right on man. Put some cx coils on today and there's a little bit of positive camber now, hoping this will correct it!
hi im from romania ....can you make a video haw to do rear camber at e36 ?
i used 4 is that to much?
really nice video dude, but i'm not sure on the camber mod. if you pack the bolts with washers then you're gonna have less threads holding your strut in place aren't you? seems a bit sketch to me
although i guess 1 washer won't be too bad!
OK I have a question why is there 2 stages of deceleration on e36's? and if you know how can I STOP IT!!!?
PS Love the channel
Is that a tractor exhaust pipe holding up the bonnet...
I want to change my diff to welded one. I need to change poli bushes as well at rear or OEM will hold good enough?
Mighty Jedi oem is enough
replace the intake manifold with an 325i manifold and youll have 193hp.. thats the only difference between the 323i and the 325i
Where is ep1 of basic mods? Thanks.
is it fast?
budget mod: tear out the interior completely
@Austin Ferguson what exact year model is yours my man? and where r you from in north carolina? I'm in hickory haha
I knew one was gonna be take off the hood
what sorta brake upgrade has been done?
Hey Austin , can you tell me what BBS wheels are those on de e36 ?
Thank you
E34 16x8 style 5s
thanks mate :)
picking up a stock 94 two door 318 two female owners, never been over 70 mph apparently
i have a e46 and i want to by pass the clutch thing
I see u put that turbo manifold on. Already
I saw that car on my local craigslist and I was like wtf
5:18
3.91 is ganna bel so damn short 100km/h 5th gear 4000rpm
since u have 2 diffs bye bmw e46 325i open diff from a junkyard or something it has 3.46 and put internals in e36 diff case i really think it would b better
btw if ur planning to turbo ur car u dont want a 3.91 with a huge ebay turbo. itll take years before reaching boost😂😂 trust me
impact guns save studs
How is your diff holding up? Have you had to replace it since welding it?
It's held up perfect, no problems whatsoever.
Awesome. Doing mine Wednesday. Idk that I have any metal to weld into the center so I think I'm going to just do mine in the joints.
nice ideas!!! want more for this type videos!!!
Good videos, but you should check into the lens instead of the screen :D
i dont understand the point if taking door cards off if the cars a daily....
I got a 318is the m44 in it is a dog 😒 it's very reliable but painfully slow
stutterz45 i know how you feel
I've got an M43b16 with 40 less HP so stop complaining lmao
hahaha i’m looking to make my m44 faster too lol
put a turbo on it
Hey, new sub. here, did you put the camber shims on both front and rear or just did you just do the front?
Jessie Franco just the front
What's are the wheels on the front? 5s?
