There is a RUclips channel called Arthur 3d Origami and it shows directions for making birds, flowers, vases, Pokemon, flags, and a lot of other things out of paper. I made a flower for my mom for mother's day, a swan for my brother for his wedding, and a blue and yellow macaw for myself.

Good idea. My dad got me a blue and white budgie named Snowflake when I was like five. They got me books about parrots and I would Trace and draw them...a lot, my favorite was the macaw. I wanted one since 1985. I can afford one and I have the room, but I have fallen in love with Quakers, conures and maybe still my favorite the budgie.

Hi to both of you! I just discovered your videos about 2 weeks ago and have been watching them regularly....I even placed an order for your pellets and your cookbooks (for my granddaughter who has her first bird). Your videos have meant so much to me and have given me the impetus to try and get my cagebound African grey OUT of his cage . A bit about me: I’m in my 70’s and have had and hand raised various parrots for about 30 yrs. My hand raising was mainly with Lovebirds, cockatiels and Australian scarlet breasted parakeets...oh and Bourkes. BUT... my first bird ,29 yrs ago, was actually 2 birds at once. I purchased a female hand fed lovebird who was the epitome of a pit bull with feathers and a hand fed, young male Indian Ringneck. I was a novice and no one told me those were difficult birds and so to me they weren’t at all hard to handle. Well...the female lovebird never became truly handleable. But AJ the Ringneck was , for 27 yrs, the most wonderful bird. He spoke frequently and continued to learn new words (and their appropriate usage) right up until his death. He rarely screamed unless he wanted to go to bed. In later years he wasn’t handled much....we had become very involved in training and showing dogs which took a lot of time....but he still didn’t bite when I did take him out of his cage but yes, he was nervous. Eventually we gave him a cage mate, one of my cockatiels and tho they never really interacted with each other they did seem to be glad of each other’s presence. When the cockatiel became very old and stopped eating, the Ringneck FED her many times a day, every day for about 2 yrs. It was incredible to see. Ringnecks will always hold a special place in my heart. A few months after I got those first two birds and while still a novice in an age when not so much was known about raising parrots, my son talked me into purchasing a baby macaw......and true to form....I chose a Military macaw! I had no idea they were supposed to be difficult to handle. Mine never was. To this day she lets me hug and cuddle her except for short times during the spring and fall raging season when I wisely learned to give her her space. She has mostly lived in my bird room (coming upstairs during the daytime with us)with , early on lovebirds, an orange wing amazon, a pigeon, a robin,a big flock of finches ,a Goffins cockatoo and my flock of pet chickens. They were all loose in the room and got along for the most part. The chickens didn’t come until later (12 yrs ago) and by then the amazon and cockatoo were no longer with us. Major (my macaw) has laid eggs right along with the hens. She has shared her fresh food which all my birds have always had, with the chickens and when one of the chickens became very very old and not well, Major tried to feed her (chicken didn’t cooperate tho.LOL) and curled up with the aged chicken at night to keep her warm. I believe you when you say Military macaws are difficult but that hasn’t been my experience....my lack of information about them in the early years was probably what got us thru her more difficult times and I just thought it was how all macaws behaved. She really was a hilarious clown in her younger years. She’s almost 29 now and behaves much more maturely. 18 yrs ago I got a baby Grey, Zuni, and played with him and trained him to come to my hand , etc but 6 yrs ago we also got 2 Norwich Terrorists...errr, Terriers. Unlike all our other dogs...spaniels and setters....these two had normal terrier instincts and wanted to grab the birds and shake. So Zuni stayed in his cage more and more because he couldn’t be trusted to stay put on a tall birds stand as Major could. And now, after the long way around, my main reason for commenting is to let you know that I’m trying your stick training method on Zuni. He understood it very quickly while safely locked in his cage but when I started opening it up so he was open to the room (with dogs crated) he sat at the opening (upper door drops down like a platform) and just shook. No way was he going to touch that stick for any thing. On the first day I finally could get him to touch , barely, if I promised him a head scratch. Long story short, after 6 days of working with him, today he walked all the way out on the door and quickly touched the stick for a treat. We have a long way to go...he won’t let me pick him up. He does bite...hard! And that is my goal...along with getting him to fly to me. You both gave me the confidence to try to rehabilitate him so he is like he used to be. Thank you so much. I feel sure we will eventually get to the point I can pick him up again. He does like for me to scratch his head and stroke his beak so there is hope. I wish you had seminars near me but I’m not in a prime area for exotic birds....Indiana. For now I have your videos. With luck I will even be able to train the macaw to let my granddaughter pick her up....she is the person who likely will inherit my birds. But at 12 yrs old, I have to hang on for a long time before she is on her own. Thanks again. Paula

“The bird is in charge” and “giving the bird the option” is why our cockatiel responds to me and not my husband. I offer an open cage or my hand, and if he responds he happily jumps on. Otherwise I let him be. Works like a charm.

i have a sun conure named starfire and she is missing some of her feathers on her neck because the other owner tried to bread her and ofcourse that is where a male bird would peck. My bird gets along with the other two parakeets. She lets them in her cage even thought the parakeets dont live with her. I got my bird from the "AZ Exotic Bird Rescue

I just got a pet cockatiel and named him Diego. He is the sweetest baby ever. I think the people that had him before did not treat him very well. He is pretty young and I think he was weaned a little early. His tail is very messy and he has several broken feathers. They also clipped his wings really young. He surprisingly doesn’t hate people though. He is a little skeptical of hands and people touching his wings which makes sense. I’ve had him for about a week and when I got him he was not tamed at all and now he already knows how to step up & he loves cuddles.

How do you keep your house so clean with 3 conures? I have one and its my destructopoop bird. Debris and poop everywhere :D not to mention mine loves to fly when she's still wet from her bath so everything gets wet haha

So my family has two conures. Our female named Pippen was abandoned (with her female mate, Mary (we named them since past owner gave no names)) and we took both of them in. Mary fell ill and vet said she wouldn’t live but she did and we were pretty sure it weakened her immune system and she ended up passing away after a while. Pippen is now in her own cage next to our boy Mango because we knew she needed the company. Pippen hates men and hands but loves coming out but just won’t stop laying eggs no matter what we try.

Idaho isn't the only one. A week into May, and we got snowed on down here in New Mexico. I think it was 5 days of cold and wet, though we only got snowed on for two.
