I bought a Blackstar ID Core stereo 40 (V1) Used a few years ago.. I built my Strat from a cheap Chinese made Starcaster Strat electric guitar By: Fender ( said it on the head stock) upgraded with many extra controls and 3 quad coil/rail humbuckers. I extended the control cavity to hold the 6 500 K audio taper pts 3 P? vol. pots 20 regular tone pots and the bridge pot is also a P/P to activate the bridge and neck Pick ups together regardless of any other controls Wired like a 50's Les Paul with coil splitting. retaining the 5-way Blade selector switch like any Strat. I added a solid Brass trem block and roller saddles to the bridge, a titanium nut, roller string trees and locking tuners. the custom paont on the body anf head stock done with a black and dark blue base with spray cans and airbrushed detailing on the body and head stock. It sports a custom hand made extended brushed stainless steel pick guard loaded with 3 quad rail/coil humbuckers with coil splitting. the paint, the pick guard and the semi gloss 2K acrylic finish eally looks great. it plays and sounds great too.. the nw name is in the fender naming progression from the Telecaster, Stratocaster, what i started with the Starcaster Strat. and my new version i call the "Stellarcaster" reflecting the stars and planets space theme paint, the pots sport chrome knobs like a Tele. and a chrome switch tip on the 5-way selector. the output jack in also mounted in the extended Pick guars. No telling just how many tone variations I can get from the guitar alone. but add to that all I can get from the amp and I won't even try to count them all.. Wanna Play??
Duck Duck I started out on an electric. It's much easier than acoustic. The strings have less tension and the setup is lower so it's much easier on the fingers. distortion also will mask some imperfections on with your notes. and lastly, often you are playing single notes instead of chords. I often start out learning songs on electric to train my fingers before moving to acoustic.
Duck Duck i started on an accoustic for several years and when i got my first electric it was easier. the neck is usually thinner and the body os usually smaller aswell. electric is easier
fOR sure. I played acoustic only for about 20 years, and I was just given a great electric guitar, and going from acoustic to electric is so so easy. I imagine the other way around would be far more difficult.
I love your videos Andy. Solid advice and help. Looking to start playing and buy a guitar and am watching your videos. I know there’ll be needing a lot of practising, but you certainly make it sound easy and not like rocket science. Thanks Andy!
I just purchased a Prince cloud guitar to go with the Purple Rain cosplay/costume I am putting together. I love the sounds that come from an electric guitar. Decided I would see if I can make some musical magic....every tone is magical when it’s electric.
Is it even possible to get a whole beginner guitar setup that's not absolutely trash for under $500? I mean if an amp costs $100 or so and a guitar stand is about $20 with good headphones costing at least another $100 and the guitar itself costs $200 and other helpful guitar tools then I'm not sure if I even want to get it because I'm not even sure if I'll be dedicated enough to play enough for the price it's worth.
nice to see noel g on the wall... keep up good videos Andy...I just moved out of England to Canada and I'm homesick and watching your videos reminds me of home, thank you

And keep going back to beginners advice now and again, especially that you find helpful. We often miss bits of info first time around. Another less expensive Gibson style guitar brand worth checking out is Tokai. Apologies if somebody already pointed this out here. I find Dunlop gear in general of very practical and reliable quality.
Hey Andy, do you recommend buying your first guitar new or used/second handed? My guitar teacher argues that for the price of a new Stratocaster or Les Paul, you can get a much better, used, guitar. Do you think that's a good idea as a beginner?
I got an epiphone Les Paul standard for €100 off done deal second hand. It looks beautiful and sound amazing. I think getting your gear second hand is a good idea as long as you try it out. Haggle with the the person your buying from as well the guy I got it off knocked 50 off the price and threw in a good gig bag.
LOL, I wondered that for a second until I recognized what it was. Its a picture of the cover of Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA album cover. www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=bruce+springsteen+born+in+the+usa+album&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
I have played acoustic and classical guitar for a few years, and want to take the plunge and play electric. At last I have found a site and teacher who seems to demystify the whole process.
I'm a very new player, just bought my first setup. For the amp I went with the Fender Mustang LT-25. It's not a tube/valve amp, but it looks great, the sound is perfectly fine for my untrained ears, and the ability to change the sound and having all the presets makes playing around with it FUN. Before I bought it my buddy let me borrow his amp (a Fender frontman 10w) and the difference is definitely noticeable. In my experience, keeping things fun is the best way to ensure you'll keep doing it, and being able to switch between clean, dirty, super overdrive and space ship sounds is just too much fun. Look Ma, I can make lazer sounds with my guitar! Lol
Also: a guitar stand for your guitar to rest between practice sessions. A gig bag for bringing your guitar to lessons. Best starter pack on RUclips .
Very descriptive.
I just ordered an epiphone les paul plustop pro, super hyped. I'm an intermediate player
I took your advice and bought a Blackstar amp. What a difference!
I own both les paul type and a strat type, and I like both of them because they both have humbuckers in them. My strat use to have a single coil but I changed it into a humbucker.
i just ordered my first ever electric guitar. i’m so excited!!!
Sir you are the best teacher I have ever seen .....I always opt for your lessons and recommend my friends for your lessons..love you Andy sir ....from India
Simple, easy, just the basic. soooo good explain to anyone like me that a beggins with, thank you very much !
My first electric guitar is on its way in the mail and I’m watching this video to get prepared
How is it a year later?

I've been waiting for this for so long thank you. Do you think electric guitar is harder to play than acoustic?
Duck Duck actually it's quite similar or even easier
Duck Duck I started out on an electric. It's much easier than acoustic. The strings have less tension and the setup is lower so it's much easier on the fingers. distortion also will mask some imperfections on with your notes. and lastly, often you are playing single notes instead of chords. I often start out learning songs on electric to train my fingers before moving to acoustic.
Thanks a lot :D
Thank you for your lessons I’ve been able to teach my son so much in 1 week through your RUclips channel
I just purchased a Prince cloud guitar to go with the Purple Rain cosplay/costume I am putting together. I love the sounds that come from an electric guitar. Decided I would see if I can make some musical magic....every tone is magical when it’s electric.
That is a verry clear explenation. thank you.
I love your lessons and your way of speaking
i've had my strings for 4 years, still work fine.
your guitar is from heaven wawwww
lol
Maybe you have stainless steel strings
i question that
Probably sounds like dookie tho, cause the strings are really dull
Blackstar HT1 is a Soundmonster. I love mine, this Valve Sound is really amazing. Warm and creamy. Would buy everytime one of these
I'm pretty sure the tone EQ control on the Blackstar HT-1 is left for American and right for British sounding, the opposite to what Andy says
i have just bought my yamaha Pacifica and tbh m blessed to get a teacher like you
Your explanation is very precise and to the point. Thank you! Subbed👍
Man I’m too broke for all of this 😭
nice to see noel g on the wall... keep up good videos Andy...I just moved out of England to Canada and I'm homesick and watching your videos reminds me of home, thank you
Can anyone just write a list of what I need to start playing electric guitar? An answer would be appreciated, thanks!
Electric guitar, amp, guitar lead, pick. That's the bare essentials! :)

Thank you for this video!
Would you say it's better to get another electric guitar and perfect my guitar playing first or start playing a bass and try and perfect two things at once
+jsh its much harder to learn 2 things at once than one at a time- but if your reason for playing both is strong enough then you can do it!
you helped me out alot, so far this channel is the more informative and motivating, keep it up! u earned one sub ;D
+Skylin VN Thanks dude!
if you could recomend a starter pack, which one would it be
Just wanna give Andy some love. You are BRILLIANT and I've been following you for years now and always come back to your videos because you are THE BEST. Also 100000 thanks for the latest arctic monkeys tutorial
He kind of looks like rip hunter from legends of tomorrow
Yoooo I see it?
That les Paul is gorgeous 😱
when he pressed the “gain” button i became a christian again
😂
And keep going back to beginners advice now and again, especially that you find helpful. We often miss bits of info first time around.
Another less expensive Gibson style guitar brand worth checking out is Tokai. Apologies if somebody already pointed this out here. I find Dunlop gear in general of very practical and reliable quality.
the new series of black star id core is just killer💯
Thank you so much, Andy. This video helped me so much. You are amazing.
You do not need to turn volume down, you have to tell your neighbours to take hard cover or flee the impact warzone into the next shelter, hehehe.
I've learnt a lot. Thank you for going through it thoroughly!
All karaoke ads be damned!
CryOfTheLyrebird true that!!!!

I'm prepared to go deaf at 30-50 because I'm not giving up my coping mechanism of loud music
Hey Andy. I had been trying a selections of guitars
you pussy
Thanks so much Andy! I'm super excited to get my first electric guitar setup :)
i have got that red one but in black
Watching this without a guitar, picking it up this Friday
Did you start playing?
Almost 9 months into playing the acoustic, now I'm planning to buy myself a stratocaster... Is it easier to play an electric guitar than the acoustic?
I think so, yes
It is
Definitely is
Excellent job explaining everything to a beginner! I found this very useful.
Why does that BASS have 6 strings? weird...

Hey Andy, do you recommend buying your first guitar new or used/second handed? My guitar teacher argues that for the price of a new Stratocaster or Les Paul, you can get a much better, used, guitar. Do you think that's a good idea as a beginner?
+Koen yes... if you know what to look for. Take someone with you who knows a thong or two is a good idea!
a thong?????
I got an epiphone Les Paul standard for €100 off done deal second hand. It looks beautiful and sound amazing. I think getting your gear second hand is a good idea as long as you try it out. Haggle with the the person your buying from as well the guy I got it off knocked 50 off the price and threw in a good gig bag.
Hey Andy I really appreciate what you do, thank you so much!
why dose he have a picture of a guys butt on his wall
LOL, I wondered that for a second until I recognized what it was. Its a picture of the cover of Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA album cover. www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=bruce+springsteen+born+in+the+usa+album&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

Did you just ASSume that butt's gender?
Art.
Also why not?
I have played acoustic and classical guitar for a few years, and want to take the plunge and play electric. At last I have found a site and teacher who seems to demystify the whole process.
You look like Gwillym Lee the actor who played Briam May😁
You so real for this 🙏🏽
Roland or Blackstar amps? Which is better for the price?
+Jianghao RUclips Blackstar would be my choice
Black star!
Isn't the Boss Katana technically a Roland? for the same price as that Blackstar in the video you can get a Katana 50....
Marshall
Roland cube
Black star these are good amps.
Lol
