Alan, I read your "Running Into A Wall" article on Steelers Now. You perfectly encapsulated what I suspected was going on with the Steelers offense. I don't criticize Tomlin very often, but I think one of Tomlin's flaws as Steelers HC may be his unwillingness to adjust to the happenings in game. I don't mind his thinking when it comes to running the ball, time of possession, less risky plays, etc. But I think that you can only stick to that plan for so long during a game if it's not working. At some point, time is running out and you're down by a score or two- you must be able to go in a different direction. I heard Arthur Moats say that you can't just change the plan that you've practiced all week. Alan, would you agree with that? Because I would think that professionals in week 18 would be able to go to other plays without it being a major problem for the offense. By "in check" (below #20 points). 1st on Nov 17th, Steelers held'm to #16 points; Eagles used blueprint to repeat the feat, Dec 1st at #19 points. Ravens ARE #3rd highest Points for on this '24 season at 518...Only Buffalo (525) & Lions (564) are above them; Logging #11 games with ABOVE #30 points. So, with the above said, to LAY BARE a contrast versus ALAN blaming defense for season and inviting Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips (defunct Fast food) to "run it back" in Da'Burg.... I say NO... Mediocre Offense WILL NOT DO IT. Stop scapeGoating the D. This FanBase is still Drool'n Justin Fields, making Alan correct, in that, it will be him next year... SAD..Because he will be wasting last few years of CAM & WATT.
I'm ok with Arthur Smith staying, but I'd like to see the Steelers get a Brian Flores type of consultant/assistant coach in for the offense to have a different background and perspective available to keep the offense dynamic and creative while not having to throw away what the offense has learned in year 1 with Smith and start again like we would if Smith was replaced.
Most people don't remember how bad knol was at the end, and how it took years for cower to build his team, but through out their time, they developed draft picks into great players, especially receiver, and their was a give a 100% culture,
Your not asking enough of these guys, yes smith should be Able to adapt his offense to the talent. He's just bad at keeping play makes on the field, and its important to score early for your offenses confidence

I would trade Tomlin to a team he approves of then Hire Ben Johnson from the lions to be the new head coach. then get rid of Austin and bring in Robert Saleh to be the defensive coordinator. I would feel a lot better about the offense and the defense in that scenario.

Mason Rudolph Put down #3 games with average 115 PR (better than both Fields & Rusty) #4th game(BUF)..... that end zone pick (I blame on DJ) ... IF Diontae Johnson catches that TD instead of allowing the INT in end zone (in BUF playoff game)... Rudolph would have had a PR of 135.49 on that terrible weather day.... Franchise would had to have kept him with that TD.. What I saw was better than anything from Fields or Wilson.

Sign T Higgins and with the two 2nd round picks get a WR and RB Skattebo...Last move...Get Daniel Jones...I know it sounds crazy but these QBs who can Run but cant read D or too short to pass over the middle..Daniel Jones could be a better 2 year fit the what we have...I believe Jones could be the next Baker Mayfield...
What quality OC would ever wanna work with Tomlin knowing that he controls what the offense does?! His entire game plan revolves around just keeping the other QB off the field. Which is him living in his fears.. smh
Tomlin has no coaching tree because he doesn't pick great coaches to coach with. He kept Tyrel Austin over Brian Flores and DC. He held onto Matt Canada too long, and still has Pat Meyer as O line coach even though the the O Line has been the biggest failure over the past few seasons. Why are we not making changes. Tomlin needs to go.

Its gotten to the point that Im tired of this rerun. They lose to the Ravens I will watch the draft, but as far as regular season I will probably pass on most of the games. I have watched this team for 50+ years and Mike Tomlin is not a good coach. He has had top tier General Managers who have given him quality players to squander. Has he been great at coaching at times? Yes. But its infrequent and his clock management and unnecessary gambling has lost more games than its won. He isnt going to get fired. So why watch? Im done with him. You Tomlin lovers can go watch Hard Knock reruns for your infusion of Tomlinisms after the playoffs, because thats all he is good for.

Daniel Jones can at least read Defense and audible correctly better the Fields
