  • United Nations human rights experts have accused the government of President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo of serious and systematic violations which amount to crimes against humanity.
    Extrajudicial executions, arbitrary detention, and torture have all been documented. Since anti-government protests in 2018, the regime has cracked down on dissent.
    The church, long considered the last institution able to speak out, is now silenced under threat of reprisal. Prue Lewarne reports from inside Nicaragua.
