      Same. I wish he would pick up a 300 Rally and bash it through the woods. I will miss that content a lot!

    Turbo is WILD lol. For this being among the first few electric dirt bikes, I feel like it's a great start. Thanks for showing us what it's capable of. Looking forward to more videos🤘🏻

    Thanks for showing us what can be done to the 300L and what can be done on the 300L. It was a fun journey.

    Hoping for dual sport content this spring / summer. I ride in Muskoka and your videos inspired me to purchase a xl600v transalp and this winter, a BMW f800gs. I did bigwind last season and many others. Always look forward to your next video. Keep it up!

    More storm bee content please! Maybe do a test at a motocross track? I know its super underpowered compared to a 250f but being electric with no gears im wondering if it would be viable to race at the track on the weekends. Hoping it can last 10+2. Wanting to throw a 19 inch on the rear and some KYB suspension.

    Hi Pat love watching your videos and enjoying your obvious top riding skills especially on the CRF300, tho disappointed we didn't get to see what it could've done on a moto cross track against full enduro bikes I'm sure with all the mods and your riding skills it would've been an eye opener for quite a few riders on more moto cross specific bikes. Not sure, impressive as it is I'll be able to muster the same enthusiasm for the electric bike, i agree its every bit if not more competent as a petrol engined bike but it definitely doesn't have the same soul as one and the noise is pretty irritating to listen to, sounds like the local rc car club track, sorry mate give me an engine any day , looking forward to seeing more of your riding skills especially if you take one of your bikes to the local mx track, keep up the good work, from Oz.

    If you could plate the Storm or Ultra, i would buy one. I don't like loading up everything for a 5 mile drive to trails.

    I had an Alta MXR for a bit as a second bike, sold it while it was still worth something as parts were drying up.. Usually rode mode 2 which is roughly 250f level power. I would average around 25-40km on the simcoe county forest single track depending how hard I was riding. Keeping a flow/momentum and avoiding huge bursts of power extended range quite a bit.
    I'm curious to see how far you can push it at the Midhurst trail ride. The Alta ended up being a short ride/play bike due to the range unfortunately. But it was so fun to own and ride. Felt faster, smoother and could ride it longer without fatigue than on my gas bike

    Would you recommend the storm bee for the MX track (weekend warrior, not competitive…)? Would love to see a storm bee motocross video with your honest feedback

    I don't have OCD but the cable management on the front end is killing me.
    I am a fat guy on the lightbee and realize that I should be on a bigger bike but not sure if I want to be on the 280 lbs (127kg) bike. I don't think that I can pick it up by myself on singletrack.

      @@patoneill555 id say its much less single track than the UB and LB.. pretty heavy like an MX as well.
      the instant torque makes these good for single track though, you get much more tired with a combustion engine

    • @patoneill555
      @patoneill555  2 месяца назад

      @@je7647 I think the Ultra Bee and Light Bee are great options for novice and even advanced riders looking for a more playful feeling bike, and no doubt excellent for single-track being so light. However, as someone who comes from full size MX and Off-Road race bikes, the full size stature of the Storm Bee gives me more confidence to hit corners and obstacles with the aggression that comes with the speed at which I ride. As your skills progress and you become a more advanced rider there is a comfort that comes with a more planted feeling bike. Also, as with all electric bikes, the lack of rotational mass makes the Storm Bee feel much lighter on its feet than on the scale.

    The electric bikes are cool, but how does range / riding time stack up? I can ride mountain trails for 4 hours with a gas powered bike. Also, what is full recharge time? Are the batteries swappable, like gas and go? Thanks for the video.

    • @uni-byte
      @uni-byte 2 месяца назад +4

      Personally I can't answer those questions and will them to Pat, but I feel there is more to the equations than just ride time. Here are a couple of major concerns:
      1) The maintenance on an electric is about 10% of that of a gas bike. No oil to change, no filters to clean, no muffler to re-pack, no valves to check, no fuel to go buy (and mix in some cases), no pistons/rings/gaskets/wrist pins/small end bearings to check and replace, etc...
      2) They are quiet. You can ride all day in the woods next to your neighbor and they don't even know you exist.
      I'm currently still riding a dinosaur burner that needs some major TLC on the carb so now I'm in for several hours of work just to get it running. Id rather just turn on the the key and ride away.

    • @tomsmall6220
      @tomsmall6220 2 месяца назад +2

      @uni-byte You make valid points. However, if I go trail riding for a weekend and can't complete a single day of riding, that is a problem. If I can't simply and quickly recharge or swap the battery, that is a problem. For one technology to replace another, it should be equally capable, or better, and cost the same, or less. I wouldn't mind picking up an electric for the reasons you stated, but it needs to check all the boxes, in my opinion.

    • @patoneill555
      @patoneill555  2 месяца назад +1

      Not sure what the "real world range" for this bike on single track is yet, SurRon claims 120km @ 50 km/h. But I do plan on testing it at the Midhurst trail ride ( a 135km single track event). It charges from 0% - 100% in roughly 4 hours off a wall outlet.
      As for your situation I would ask: 4 hours of riding or 4 hours total? How many km/ Miles on such a ride? and what is your average speed?
      I know that hill climbing is also a big part of mountain riding and I'm sure that would be quite draining on the battery.
      The plus however, once battery tech is there (and its moving at the speed of light in comparison to ICE tech did) we wont loose power on the E-Motos at the altitude!

      @@tomsmall6220 Given what Pat just said, I guess you could mitigate the weekend ride situation by having a generator along. This is something I usually bring with me anyway when out for a multi-day ride/camp/race experience. I have one of those 2000W Honda inverter generators that accompanies me. It would do the job of charging nicely as well as keep my food cold and provide electrical power to watch a movie, or run reading lights, etc... You may be physically in different shape than I, but after 4 hours of riding I'd want some down-time. Ride maybe 3 hours in the morning, put it on charge while I have lunch and chill, then ride 3 more hours in the evening. Pretty full day for an old guy like me. LOL!

      @@patoneill555 Yeah, another good point. No jet changes or re-mapping for large elevation changes. I remember a few years back trying to tune a 150cc 2T to run properly on a course that changed 4,000 feet. The best compromise was white plugs and detonation down low and fouled plugs and smoke up high. Not to mention the 30% decrease in HP!
