    The people who run Patek Philippe are the biggest hypocrites on earth. 9 out of 10 clients they sale too are watch flippers. 90 percent of the watches they make are sitting on shelves at grey market dealers collecting dust. How did all these watches get there. If they really were serious about not wanting people to flip their watches they should require proof that a previous buyer is not selling the watches they previously purchased. Yeah they’ll never do that. Sly can buy any watch he wants. He has the money so it’s only a matter of price.

  • @ryanjofre

    I bet he bought it as an investment and BAM he cashed in didn’t he!

    Hi Brendan what you got to remember patek didn't give him the watch (they could have borrowed it to him for the publicity and then he could not sell the watch) they sold it for 3 million quid so they don't have the moral right to question whether he can sell it or not. I think this hierarchy ball shit about not ever being able to sell one of pateks watches (3 million pounds) is just ridiculous just to be a member of their club that's what it is. I love watches and can appreciate and marvel at the technical engineering involved one of these pieces . But I also believe in the right to own and sell your own possessions if you want to. And if patek are so concerned about people selling their watches have the purchaser sign a contract that's they can only sell them back to the company (don't think this will be good for business) thanks John.

    He is going through a divorce.
    I don't think it's up to Patek to worry about what happens after they sell a watch. It's their option to worry about who they sell to next time.
    If he intended to flip it, he would not have allowed Patek personalize it. I think his divorce has created some unforseen financial stress

    I believe you can do whatever you want with your watches. The minute you pay for the watch, and walk out of your AD, the watch belongs to you. If the owner of Patek Philippe gets butt hurt because you sell the watch, that's on him. I get that AD's like Patek frown on flipping watches, but Stallone doesn't need to money, isn't a watch flipper, and just got tired of the watch.

  • @OttawaInHD

    I’m sure there was a deeper reason why sly had to sell. As you said he was seen wearing an old submariner. Which means he does have watches he keeps. Either way, he has burned the bridges with patek. Also true is that he has ruined it for everyone else that has tons of money. Patek will break all stickers and packaging before the customer leaves. No more sealed Pateks, just like no more stickers on Rolex.

    I'll be very honest.. about what I think.. Sly is someone who if he wears a Casio G-Shock can easily resell it for 10 times its price and if he puts a signature on it even more.. President Stern maybe bothers him they can no longer use a character loved by millions of people for free as a sponsor for their glory.. what can I say... if he bought it to resell it.. the watch is his and he does what he wants with it.. even putting it in giveaway.. is ok . Sly want to make money on it..no problem but.. that watch really disgusts me aesthetically.. (personal taste)

    Great video Brendan. I agree with your sentiments on PM. As for Sly, interesting you mention he never unwrapped the watch. From that I personally can only deduce it was a shrewd investment piece. PP getting annoyed ? rightly so. The way he procured the watch in the first instance was probably with extensive chats with Thierry, now Thierry most likely feels he was played for a goose and some. These special special pieces are really supposed to be kept in the family, especially a personalised piece as this. Sly cashed in on a one of one and his notoriety

  • @StruanRobertson2911
    @StruanRobertson2911 2 месяца назад +2

    For me morally this isn't quite right...as Patek basically had his name etc on the box which is something special they done for him. Example, I was in the national museum of singapore in January, there are several specially made and one off patek clocks on display (each designed with something special about singapore)which patek gifted to the country to celebrate 50 years on independence. I mean, if they were sold patek would correctly be angry. It's kind of the same here....patek doing something special for him...and he's selling it

  • @seanlinnan2719
    @seanlinnan2719 2 месяца назад

    When someone buys a Vintage copy of the first superman comic book... its in a plastic case and it's sealed because it's been graded. The buyers almost ALWAYS are true fans who view it as a holy grail to get themselves. Yet, they leave it in the package. Because to "open it up, would reduce the "ultimate state of collectibility" .
    I can easily imagine him never wearing it... enjoying it as a grail... leaving it in the packaging.
    That watch is huge. It's not really a watch a guy would ever wear. It's art.
    And because he can't wear it, it probably gets old owning it.
    If ge bought it with only the intent to flip it, why have the box personalized? That would diminish it's value. And he easily could have said "please don't do anything to the box... I want it totally perfect"
    I think he has a divorce going on. He didn't want to "buy the watch twice... "

    He purchased the watch and it's his right to do whatever he wants with it! That's all there is to it.
    If you buy something for such an amount of money and then get told you have to keep it forever after. Would you buy it in the first place?
    If it makes him profit it's his investment intuition and he deserves the money. I'm sure even though he makes profit from this he would probably donate the makings to people in need or use it to help others. If he does do that then who is PP to criticize what he can do with his money?
    Seeing it from a different point of view, if the watch drops drastically in value and he sells it, would there be so much fuss over it that he's selling?
    If PP doesn't like the way their watched are being handled, then either stop selling watches at such ridiculous prices or make a contract upon purchase stating the buyer must never sell it for profit.
    Those that are calling him a flipper, either they're just jealous of his gain from it or can't take the fact he's selling a watch that they can't afford to buy in the first place 😂

    Why did they sell him the watch in the first place? Publicity. What happens should he sell it at auction in the future? Publicity. Brand awareness. Patek got millions for their watch and lots of global publicity on the back of an A list celebrity. You can’t blame Sly and you can’t blame Patek. The only thing that may irk Patek is that they didn’t get a slice of the action when he cashed in his chips. But then again 2M will be chicken feed for them anyway.
