ArcGIS ModelBuilder: How to Create a Simple Model

  • ModelBuilder is ESRI's GUI for making models in which we can drag and drop the tools from ArcToolbox and specify the order in which they would run.
    We consider a problem in which we have to select some sites. But the condition is that the sites should be in 10 miles range of a major city and highway. Moreover, the site can't be outside the boundary of USA. For this, we need to create a buffer around the cities and highways. Then the buffered areas have to be intersected and clipped to the USA boundary.
    ModelBuilder makes these tasks faster, easier, accurate and automated for us.
    In this tutorial, we create a model with specified parameters which runs and gives us the solution.

    Okay, but I can't see how you make it so you can choose specific data input each time, you've specified constant data that's going through the model.
