Thank you very much for sharing this video and also for pointing out the issue with pivot length. This is disease for some time already and I expect it will get only worse. Customer sees reduced weight and maybe assumes manufacturer used some lighter alloys or something, while in reality they simply reduced dimensions. The first AFAIK was Casio disaster, Kawai also did this with their compact keys, then Yamaha followed. Probably only Korg (D1) uses proper sized keys. What a sad state of affairs...
I would say 383, it's newer, sounds better in many cases (though not always) and the key keel and build are better on the new 383. The Casio is harder to use, but also has pitch bend, and semi-weighted keys, though I would say the yamaha's keys are more fun and versatile.
I have the EW-320, the 76 key version of the 383. I don't think you can go wrong with it at all. Great price with LOTS of features. And the tones sound very good. Recommend a decent set of headphones or external speakers though. I am wasn't a fan of the stock speakers. But just my opinion.
Hi Jeremy! Im looking to purchase a beginner piano that i can grow into. Ive been looking at the donner dep 20 and trying to find a yamaha that competes with what the donner dep20 offers. Havent had the best results. And also what kind of keyboard stands and cases would you recommend?
@@S3rveGod Before you buy anything, you owe it to yourself to go look at used Yamahas Korgs Casios and Rolands and compare them to used Donners/Williams (if you can even find any). You will quickly see how poorly the cheaper ones hold up. I hate to see you or anyone tempted to buy junk just because it is pretty and cheap. If you have a limited budget you will be much better off buying a used model from a reliable brand then new junk that DOES NOT LAST.
I am going through these decisions myself. I have been learning the Irish penny whistle, and figured I might as well make the move to a piano. This is what I have concluded. The Yamaha keyboards are well thought out, and sound really good, but more importantly, I want to end up on a Yamaha professional keyboard when I am ready, so for me it is wise to start with the same brand so I get consistency of design ideas, menus, sounds etc along my learning journey. So my first question was, what do I want to do longer term, and fit my first keyboard into that strategy. Second, I will disagree with Jeremy (for me, at least) in that he recommends spending the extra money on a keyboard that you can grow into and is a better keyboard. I know he likes the Yamaha PSR E383 a lot. I can see where he is coming from, it is a brilliant keyboard for the price, but I will buy its more basic little brother, the PSR E283. I know it has lots of limitations compared to the E383, and I will quickly outgrow it, but it has inbuilt very basic piano lessons. Very basic suits me at the moment, but it is also very cheap. Cheap enough that I can get some basic learning done for a few weeks, then give it to my grandchildren to start their music journey, and I will step up and over the E383 to its bigger brother, the 76 key PSR EW425 which is good enough to do me for the two, three, or more years it will be before I can benefit from a more professional keyboard. I may even like it so much I keep it even longer. It should take a long time for me to outgrow it. This is not advice on what You should do, but I know it is hard with so many choices, and hopefully my story helps you a little bit. It is sometimes easier when you know others are in the same position as you. Good luck.
Unless someone is in love with the form factor of this, I just can't see why someone would buy this at this price point. Just from the first few minutes, it sounds pretty good. But if I had the $4000 USD, I would go with the new Roland V Stage, even the 76 key version, which would be more likely for me. The DGX 670 might be one to consider if you want lots of great voices and weighted full size piano keyboard, but it does cost quite a bit more than the EW 425! Another one which has a "semi-weighted" key action and 88 keys, with about 145 voices, is the Studiologic Numa Compact SE, which is about the same price as the EW 425! It all depends what you are going to use it for. For playing at home, the DGX is probably better, but a little too big and heavy for taking to gigs. For doing gigs, the Studiologic would be better, more professional audio outputs, and very light weight, etc!
@@prayingmantis-gandalf The P225 is closer to a digital piano. Better keybed, voices are basically pianos and electric pianos. Importantly though, P225s have NO ACCOMPANIMENT. So no drum beats etc. But if you want strictly a good digital piano go with the P225. But if you want to be a one man band and be able to play along with accompaniment, drum beats, horns and use hundreds of other voices go with the EW425. The keybed is still ok - not as good as the P225 but easier to play electronica and organ sounds with. Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the advice, I appreciate it!
