    Another thing to note: Denmark is simultaneously investing massively into power transfer, such as using wind power to aid the electrolysis to generate clean hydrogen -which can be used either as fuel for cargo ships or trucks, or it can be stored over time and provide energy back into the grid as an alternative to a battery. The energy islands will aid in this green hydrogen production and allow Denmark to become the world's biggest supplier of green hydrogen, as the future's alternative to natural gas.

    Most often the UK turbine parks are made in Denmark. But of course, with a significantly larger population they're more visible without covering the same percentage.
    All the British Isles have a good potential as well.
    But in particular, the north sea is favourable as it's relatively shallow compared to most other seas/oceans, that makes it a whole lot cheaper to build an off shore windfarm.
    Anyway, we'll never be able to compete with Norway that has a lot of potential hydro, while also being rich on gas and oil.
    Nothing compares to the mountain sheikhs.

    To the Eiffel tower tall windmills the Danish parliament is in the process of approving 450 meter tall windmills at the national testcenter at Østerild. Why test off shore windmills on land you might ask. It is easier and cheaper to install on land, and the north west coast of Jutland in Denmark is notorious for being windy all the time.

    Regarding the UK not building atefixial islands, I think it has to do with the fact that you have much deeper water around the UK, so it would simply cost too much. The Baltic Sea has an average depth of 55 meters. The North Sea has an average depth of 93 meters, while the Atlantic has an average depth of 3646 meters.
    When it comes to fishing in particular, there is more evidence that they are actually benefiting fishing in the long run (of course not during the build-up). For example, there was a lot of fear around this when the bridge between Denmark and Sweden was built, but it turns out that it rather creates free zones for fish, where trawling is not possible. They kill some birds but only a tiny fraction of what, for example, domestic cats, cars and ordinary windows do. Birds are not stupid in the head, they understand that they should not fly into a turbine, but it is during a storm, when they involuntarily end up in them.

      You're totally wrong. UK is building 2 GW windfarms on Doggerbank, where ocean debt is as low as 13-20m, so they don't need artificial islands.

    • @nigels.6051
      @nigels.6051 29 дней назад

      I think the real reason that the UK isn't building artificial islands is that we are an island, all the stuff that Denmark is planning to put on its islands, we put on the island of Great Britain. The other reason for the Danish islands is that they are building them half way between Denmark and Germany, and half way between Denmark and UK/Netherlands, so that they don't need to bring all the power from their wind farms into Denmark when they actually want to export it in the opposite direction. For the UK, we normally want all the power in GB. We do have cables to Denmark,Norway,Netherlands,France, but they normally bring power in to the country, our exports normally go to Ireland, and our big island of Great Britain is actually half way between our wind farms and Ireland, no extra island needed! If we do want to locate stuff in the North Sea then we put it on an oil rig like structure, much cheaper than an island. The other reason for building an island is the same as the new artificial islands in the South China Sea - if you own an island then you can claim the waters around it as yours, more sea area that you can build your wind farms in!

    • @TainDK
      @TainDK 29 дней назад

      @@nigels.6051 Meh - the "sea" boarders are already defined between us (UK and DK) so making an island wouldn't change that. The islands are made so that the power can be transported to that island from the mils, and then from that island to shore, instead of having all the mills connect to the shore. There are also talks of having storage capabilities on the islands so that some of the power made can be stored at the island... Im not an expert, these where dreams before Covid and apparently Belgium listened and did it, where we are still in the "think about it" stage (aka, not enough money, yet)

    so with all of this "golden" talk about danish windmill technologi... we do not talk about the reality.. i am a danish guy, living in a part of denmark called Thy. here we (the local people) have been fighting against these giant companies for years. maybe they want to make the off shore windmill parks.. but they test those giants on land.. and they are testing it in (before) the local nature reserve.. in denmark we have a few nature locations that is so illigal to damage that you will go to jail for picjing the wrong flower.. Untill big companies like Vestas and Siemens pay the danish government.
    for about 12 years ago the government destroyed a BIG par of nature reserve (witch is the biggest area in northern europe for migratory birds) to put up 8 windmills, with the hight of 250 meters.. the locals fought against it, because we all feared that this was only the beginning. of course we (the locals) lost the case, and now we have a windmill test park, instead of our nature reserve.
    and on top of it all.. this year, the government and the big companys made new plans for new 450 meter windmills in the same area. and because of the noise of the windmills, the little danish towns around, will have to be expropriated. and the worst part is that after we got the first mills, is that the locals did not get offered cheaper energy. now we pay even more than before.
    not only are we destroying the little nature we have left in denmark. we also destroy the little danish towns that is the inspiration the the real danish culture.
    i dont know if it is worthy enought to make a video about this topic, because i still think it is a lost cause. but we need as mutch attention as we can, to show that this is good for the big companies and not for the "little man".

    In a free market economy mega windmills are now the cheapest means of electricity production if you have the conditions for it. The worlds largest transition project were signed in Jan 2023 by Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Netherlands and will transition 220 million Europeans away from fossil/nuclear fuel in just a decade. On top the worlds largest green hydrogen production. A small one digit percentage of the hydrogen will be used to ensure emission free electricity production even when the wind does not blow. The three large nations with highest emissions per capita are Australia, USA, Canada. All three nations have OPTIMAL conditions for offshore mega windmills and thus could decide to make a simple copy/paste of this project. They COULD thus transition away a considerable part of their emission fast and easy, create good taxgiving jobs at home AND laugh all the way to the bank. However it seems that the deep connections between the fossil fuel industry are the reason why these nations instead, in 2024, decides to spend billions and billions of taxpayer money to SUBSIDISE fossil fuels while climate change consequence costs explodes at the same time, as our atmospheric carbon content keeps climbing fast.
    NOTHING but the politicians and parties on offer prevents a fast and cheap transition. None of the governments in the three named nations have presented a plan to make their nations live up to their signed commitments in the Paris climate accord. The populations in those nations are being scammed and rest of the world are being held dangerously hostage by it. Climate tipping point after climate tipping point are being triggered and we are OUT OF TIME! We no longer have 2-3 election cycles to "wait and see". If someone want your vote a minimum requirement must be ability to present a credible transition plan for the nation they want to represent. Anything else is absurd

    to give you som insight of what 1 kw will cost of wind energi when they done with then new 12.7 Gw wind farm in the north sea at Samsø and south of sea land. it will be 0,42 kr for 1 kw. plus taxes and delievering expensive. that mean around 2 dkr to 2.50. or in Pund sterling around 0,2 to 0,27 pund serling pr Kw. that is not expensive in our days after 2022 inflamation. that made El prices raise with over 80% in just a couple of month to over 200% at times. today the price for 1 kw is around 1 dkr. or 0,09 £ pr kw without any tax, with tax it around way higher than the price will be for the wind farm energi.
    Atm there is planned and started 12.7 Gw farms in north sea and at samsøe and south sea land. means that Denmark when they are done and should be around 2028 plus a couple of years, Denmark can produce study and cheap eletricity, to our own country and keep prices stabile, Its not just wind farm but also Sun farms, and more people invest in Wind turbines at home or ground warmed watersystem. meaning that eletricity is saved at those area,
    Again the repports shown that a whole new eco system have been started around those parks but and will give fish a more safe area of living.
    so again might be good investment for denmark. we already had a deal with England for delievering eletricity we couldnt use before brixit but falled throw due to brexit. sadly
    Also for this to work, Denmark have been working hard laying new cables throw east to vest and in jutland north to south and still working on that. so the energi net can handle the extreme high power that will be sent throw them. in all when denmark have finish the planned wind energi parks before 2050. we should have an estimated hourly production of new sea wind parks of around 24 GW. meaning that we produce between 5 to 10 for export every hour. meaning eletricity for between 1 and 3 million household more.
