nah i would argue dead tube is actually pretty good later, its like his other manga tomodachi game, it becomes an urban mystery series later, and more of a yakuza crime fiction etc. not too different from series like "violence action" or that assassin series about lesbians etc etc
I read this manga, and its fun to describe it's absurd plot and its twists, but i don't recommend it unless you want pointless gratuitous sex(sometimes grapes), gore, and masochistic tragedy. Spoilers: Dont scroll if you want to read it. For example, the MCs innocent sister is tricked by her friends into beating their dad to death with a bat for Dead Tube. Then her school gets sealed with all the students inside as a teacher is holding some dead tube event there and its like a horror movie. MC and company go to save her, and at the end, they show a video of her being graped by them then they slit her throat in front of the mc. Then double twist! The dad isnt dead, he was the organizer of Dead Tube along with the teacher, and he only raised her and mc so that he could eventually kill her in the most horrific way possible.
Yup, I read that chapter too and I really wasn't ready on how bad it was gonna turn out too. You really have to keep your braincells in a safe location when reading dead tube

I started it the other day and while I like it, I completely understand why most people would likely hate it. There were a couple times I said "alright Dead Tube, RELAX."
This manga was recommended to me by a friend when I asked him for a psychological horror manga. I was looking for something more like oyasumi punpun or trail of blood. This was not even disturbing, just disgusting. There is nothing to the story other than gore. If the gore is reduced or even toned down, then this manga would never have gotten this popular.
So there was atempted "school shooting" kind of scenario in Portugal in Lisbon University of Science if I'm not mistaken, and allegedly the dude who tried to do the whole thing was an otaku, and some of the news channels that were covering the incident claimed that he tried to do it because he was an Otaku and he read Deadtube (I think it was DeadTube but I'm not sure), obviously him reading a Manga was not evidence of shit, the only thing that could indicate it was some of the texts he had with a friend in Discord that mentioned it but I don't think it was even taken into account during the trial.
To me it just feels like an 80's horror slasher movie in manga from. No great story or characters, but it can be fun and thrilling to watch/read as a ridiculous popcorn flick that always tries to one-up itself.
Dead tube felt very meta with the way like streaming, n clout Chasing became problematic over time n even pre dates kick which oddly enough both are very similar, but the plot is so fucking lost in the sauce, like alot of horror Mangas that try n do the larger plot instead of small short stories always get so condeluded and ridiculous, it always some shit that ends up making no sense they never know how to just end it.
So I know I’m late to this video but I got about 59 chapters in but I “read” about 40 chapters and I really checked out like 10 chapters in because the whole “shocking to be shocking”thing but I kinda got to the same conclusion as the video did but the difference is I selected a few random chapters past 59 because I knew I’d never come back to this to see if literally anything happens but oh my god does this series go literally bananas like currently dead tube is on the blockchain/nft/crypto at some point they basically the exact plot of scream 6

There was an odd period where it felt like a bunch of edgelord stuff was dropping and trying their best to be disturbing. It's always been around but this was like a different generation and more modernized. Think JJK, DS, and MHA but for dogshit horror edgelord manga. There was some good horror & revenge stuff in that time period but it got overshadowed (or ended on a shit note).
I don't know if I can recommend any horror Manga as I haven't read many of them however I do have a few recommendations for anime series you should check out either perfect blue, Paranoia agent, from the new world, when they cry and madoka majika although most of these are psychological horror series they are still worth checking
