Yeah it was an impressive feat of discipline to grow it out that long. But he looks 10x better without it. It looked unkempt and anyway he has good skin (no major acne or scars) and good face shape.

When my son started growing his facial hair, I commented on how nice he looked and how I liked the multicolor in his beard (some red, blond, but mostly brown). When he commented 6 months later about how he didn't have any razors, I bought him what he needed and he showed up clean-shaven for our next lunch outing. Great looking either way! It's really how the guy feels about himself (in his confidence level) that makes him look good.

I trimmed off everything as a spontaneous thing today and I have spent the entire day hating myself for it. While I am filled with regret I have developed a renewed appreciation for all my facial hair that I had started to trivialise lately, I love my face with beard and I can't wait for it to grow back.
I shaved off my summer beard about a month ago, partly because it was getting too high maintenance. It was my first beard ever, and grew it for about 5 months. But when I saw my chin again, I went "oh God, no! I have no chin!" I immediately went into panic mode. It took me a few days to calm down. I can only imagine what you must have felt after shaving an 8-year beard!
Same here. I recently went from a full beard to beardstache after like 8 months. Jesus christ. I went from looking like a chiseled hunk to a thriple chinned wallrus. But once the stubble grew back in a couple days, I got quite a few compliments. Try wearing a hat or something to kind of add that definition back to your face. I wore a fedora hat and with a thick moustache I looked pretty darn neat- dr watson straight out the book.

I shaved my beard after about 4 years and when I came out of the bathroom scared the heck out of my daughter who was 6 at the time!! Fast forward umpteen years and I had another huge beard when my littlest granddaughter was born and that’s all she ever saw was granddad and his big beard..when she was 2 granddad shaved his beard and wife and I went over to my sons house to visit..we walked in and my granddaughter took off running and would not come near me for about a week...she would sit across the room and just stare at me trying to figure out where granddad went. Lol
My husband took off his mustache & I laughed for half an hour. He looked so different. When your wife laughed I laughed with her. Because I know! Oh that was funny! Loved it. For everyone criticizing his wife, you must not have had someone do this. My dad has had a beard my entire life and shaved it without telling us. We got home and were all shocked and laughing nervously. We never really got used to it, and were all relieved when he grew it back.

A lot depends on how fast your beard grows as in thick heavy growth that covers a lot of your face/neck, or light growth that covers less face/neck. I know Guys that get away with shaving just about once a week and look tidy and others that could shave in the morning and look untidy near enough by late afternoon. Skin conditions also a factor.I absolutely hate shaving and prefer a beard,(nothing to do with being lazy),my wife hates beards,so I go with a beard in autumn/winter no beard in the spring/summer.Go with what works with you and what you feel comfortable with.

I think he looks better without the beard! I've seen that in 2 other guys I've seen after they shaved. A handsome face came through!

Watched the video and was like wtf is this guy doing with that nasty ass beard. Dude should never grow that back. Shaving his beard made him look 20 years younger. Maybe he wanted to look older in college .... but now seriously you want to wind back the clock not look like your in your 50s.

A lot depends on how fast your beard grows as in thick heavy growth that covers a lot of your face/neck, or light growth that covers less face/neck. I know Guys that get away with shaving just about once a week and look tidy and others that could shave in the morning and look untidy near enough by late afternoon. Skin conditions also a factor.I absolutely hate shaving and prefer a beard,(nothing to do with being lazy),my wife hates beards,so I go with a beard in autumn/winter no beard in the spring/summer.Go with what works with you and what you feel comfortable with.
