Heavy Haulage - Massive Oversize loads in Australia using Two Trucks in Tandem.

  • Every Saturday on the Great Northern Highway leading out of Perth is known locally as "Super Saturday," as it is the only time when very wide loads are permitted on the highway in this area.
The mining boom in the Northwest of Western Australia has seen a huge jump in the number of oversize loads mostly mining dump trucks, excavators, and items of prefabricated industrial components.
Most trucks travel in tandem with one convey containing the Dump bucket, and another convoy carrying the dump truck chassis minus wheels. A third convey usually follow with the wheels.
Large excavators are broken down and transported in 3 components. The tracks alone of a large one weigh 120 tonne and require two trucks to haul them.
The Brockman Bridge is a narrow bridge just south of the Bindoon township and it is chaos there at times as an endless procession of these trucks with their attendant pilot and police escort vehicles do battle with the hundreds of returning empty road trains that frequent the highway.

in Queensland they were only allowed one wind turbine tower per convoy, thus adding 10,000's to the cost of escorts, nanny state Vic 3 per convoy

austrlians dont think proper should apply the transformers fomula of changing to any shape or thing large loads can be converted to a beautiful mini and driven nicely and then after a few beers at the job site change back

im pretty sure you dont think proper, so your ignorance will be forgiven but let me educate you a little to save you from making such stupid statements in the future......
most of Australia's mines are in or around cultural and historical areas of significance and therefor the foot print and damage to the environment needs to be kept to a minimum so there cant be much in the ay of manufacturing in the local area
and the time and effort to transport as you put it mini over nearly 2000 kms would make the cost of the machinery grossly prohibitive
