Thank you for watching my movie. Tourou nagashi commences the night before the main festival. Lit Kaga Yuzen lanterns are floated down the river Asano at dusk, starting near the Tenjin-Bashi bridge where I took this movie. The lanterns then float under the Ume-no-Hashi bridge before finishing at the Asanogawa Ohashi bridge.

There is a word "SetuGekka"in Japanese, which means Snow,Moon,Flower.
I feel so happy seeing cherry blossoms in Spring, Fireworks in Summer,Autumn leaves in late October, The first snow of the Winter season, etc. When I feel myself as Japanese, is such moments of changing seasons.

Sorry for late reply and it is pity to say the fest was over this year. As for Kanazawa Toro Nagashi Fest, it will be held on the first Friday night of June the next year. Check the place below. I think the best place to watch because not so crowded.

This is the festival of the spirits. (BON MATSURI)
Ay the first day Japanese people use to put incense, flowers, drinks and food on the ``butsudan``. Also they put lanterns inside the house with flowers, to sign to the death people of they family that they are waiting for then. They go to the cemitery , and calle the beloved ones back home. In same areas they put fire lamps outside the house for guide the spirits also.
At the end of the festival, at the last day, - they put the floating lanterns with the name of the family in the river so the spirits can go back to the spiritual land, because the water is related to the the spirital life.
After send the beloved ones ``back to the Spiritual Land`` they go to the parks to dance at the sounds of `taiko``.
OBON MATSURI is a very important time for Japanese, they go back to the place where they born to elebrte OBON.
    Is a beautiful festival.

Sonia-san, Thank you for your detailed explanation. It is perfect and I wonder why you are so familiar with Japanese customs? But may I comment one mere trivial thing? As for this "Kanazawa Toro nagashi fest" is usually held on the first Friday night on June as a part of "Hyakumangoku Matsuri". Of course the purpose of the fest is same as you described. If you want to watch it, check the date before you come. Thank you.
