God bless all the hard working sisters or what we always called nuns. Nuns at my grade school never retired. Had one in her late 70's that stopped teaching but help make meals. They got paid peanuts. Had over 20 nuns in early 60's but they never had a car but each preist had modern cars and money for nice vacations. Most of the Catholic schools here in Philly have closed. School that I went to had around 1600 well behaved students. Over 50 in each of the 32 class rooms. Because they had what public schools have not had in last 75 years that is discipline & respect of others we learned more then the public school classes that only had 23 to 25 students in a class. My son had a strict nun in first grade that would rent a pencil for 3 cents a day. Well in a very short time kids always had at least 2 #2 sharpened pencils everyday. Taught all of them responsibility.
