Congrats on the WR! For a new runner learning the any% category, would you recommend the BSB route or the Cleric Beast route? Trying to improve my time and wondering if one has significant advantages over the other. Cheers!
The splits were actually brand new for the new route, so to answer your question, yes, the route is new, at least to me. I did runs 2 nights ago and actually tied my previous PB of 30:54.
You can't go to cathedral ward to fight Amelia without either killing Cleric Beast or Blood Starved Beast because the doors are blocked. Killing Cleric Beast unlocks a key sold in the bath at the dream for 10k echoes. Killing Blood Starved Beast opens the door to upper cathedral. Cleric Beast is much less running which saves time. tl;dr This is just normal progression of the game.

The BSB route is going to be easier to finish runs.

Technically, yes they are both optional. Just not both of them at the same time in the same run.
