- In today's video I breakdown 6 ways to shoot a layup in basketball.
BallerBootCamp.com/bne -- JOIN BNE TODAY!
Here is a list of all the different layups I demonstrated in the video:
- Regular layup
- Jump stop layup
- Regular reverse layup
- Goofy reverse layup
- Finger roll
- Inside hand layup
Of course there are a ton of different ways you can finish inside but these are the 6 main ways that players must be able to do.
The footwork is not easy on these so each one will take practice. Don't get discouraged though as in time you won't even have to think about them and they will be natural in the games.
If you have any questions make sure to leave them in the comments below and I'll get back to you asap.
#WeDedicated,
Augie Johnston.

ur camera man needs to step back so we can see the hoop!
EVNSV ikr
That's not too important, but I hear you.
EVNSV can't u see how he shoutin
i can't watch this anymore because i need to see where the ball hits the backboard!!
What do you mean thats not important? You are teaching lay ups but we can barely see it. 😂😂😂 lmao
Glad your channel keeps growing. Good video as always coach!
this video is ruined by the camera man, good content but i can't see whats happening at the basket
My dad taught me the the reverse lay up as my first layup.
I'm a master of the reverse, now.
however, I can't do an overhand as well as a reverse
Carlo Gines nice 👍 bro
friends:"what is that move"me:"the goofy reverse"friends:"we're not your friend no more"
LOLOLOLOL. I told you I made that name up.
Baller Boot Camp It's from skateboarding, so I know how it came to be.
please upload more videos
Helpful video🏀🏀Keep Going Coach
Enlightened! Thank you very much Baller Boot Camp guy!
I was recommended by one of my friends on facebook to watch out your video. Great job bro... looking for more from yours. However good luck with your channel...
Thanks so much!
Hi first time on this channel, but great video layups are a big part of my game thanks :)
Oh wow, great, welcome. Please subscribe and check out my other videos. Here's one I think you'll like: ruclips.net/video/XYXMuxRP0EE/видео.html
Thanks for the great help man!!
No prob!
can you do a video on how to spin the ball off the backboard for different techniques or angles? or do you already have one?
These are so basic that it actually helped me realize how much my foot work was slacking to even them thanks
the best teacher ever
this was very helpful
good video man.
*just discovered your channel and i like it new sub*
Glad you found it.
good video man
great video 👍
Great information Auntie Augie
lol, You're welcome!
Thanks coach Augie I'm from India this helped me a lot plzz make a video on 3 point shooting for for kids plzz make a video boss
hi you helped me so much ...God bless you!!!
glad to help
Liked it a lot
can u explain isaiah wasington jelly🍇
That's a great idea!
Jelly fam!
Rome Jefferson it's actually is a good idea. when you play at a higher level like college ball or even pro, defenders are a lot more athletic and taller than mid school players. those players can fucking pin your shot, so when you use the off-foot layup (same-sided) you mistimed your finish which catch the defense off-guard and can't time your shot
Does the ball always touch the backboard or does it goes like a switch ?
great vid
you r the best
Love your videos man, really helped me out by the way why do you wear giant shirts.
Is there any advantage of wearing giant shirts I personally wear "tightish" shirts
lol, idk, I don't think it's that big.
Margad Ganbold you definitely want a looser shirt when you ball... don't want any weird resistance to your shot mechanics
Your videos are amazing please coach my team😂😭
its very useful to me
Love the first 3 layups
Yep those are solid fundamentals.
I've been watching your vids so I can work on these moves during the weekend and then yesterday a broke my foot RIP lol
ahhhhh damn, sorry to hear that.
I would have included Eurostep as well.. Great video though. Keep it up man.
Yeah Eurostep is an advanced way to finish inside, but not one that I like to teach youth players.
"Goofy reverse" lethal. I use it all the time, unstoppable if you have length.
i crushed that like button
Thank you so much.
Is it bad that when I make my layup, my shooting hand is the same as my foot thats off? ( shooting with right hand and my left leg on the ground )
@ballerbootcamp are you the brother of jessiethelazer?
nice video:)
thnx
It's actually my favorite
Thanks for watching guys...Which one do you think is the hardest? Comment below.
Baller Boot Camp thanks I know how to this already I want to see some of moves u use in basketball
You should have done underarm and side spin lay ups too.
Upful Soul yea he should have those are a bit advanced but can basically give you a lay up in any situation
Baller Boot Camp you hose layups were fire🔥. I think the hardest would have to be the goofy reverse. I can do it but I can't get as far as you can
Ok, go checkout my channel. I have a ton of them on there.
Hey can you do a break down on kyrie's double behind the back move, can't get the times right.
Also lillard's stepback would be nice, I feel like it's better than a normal stepback.
Ok thanks for the recommendation.
nice vid
what's up bro!!!
Yes
thank you i play like an all star already
Nice vid man! What shoes are you wearing?
Thanks, those are the Crazy Light Boosts (Adidas)
Hey man i didnt understood that the goofy reverse layup main thing is that where is 45 degree i didnt understood plz reply
You have helped me a lot since I saw your channel Coach Augie! But one thing I want to know is what moves or what will I do at the very beginning of a game? Seriously, I'm always mental blocked at the very start... So can you give me tips what to do at the very beginning? It would be appreciated very very much! Thanks in advanced! :)
Thanks for watching! I don't think there is a certain move or shot you should look for. Just play your game. The best advice I can give you is play to your strengths and hide your weaknesses.
Baller Boot Camp
Hmmm.. that was one of the best tips I got in basketball! Thank you very much and I didn't really expected YOU to answer it!! You're one of the best coaches that is really down to earth.. Thanks :)
floater is pretty important too!
I always do the overhand layup
love from🇮🇳💕🏀
Ball is life
its good I trying
when you call em goofy and regular made me think u skate too
Yeah that's where I got the Goofy term from Goofy Foot.
put the speed on 1.5 makes the video so much better lmaooo
Can you make a video on how to euro step
Go to my channel and search Euro Step.
I have been doing this since I started playing, can I fake a shoot and make a 1 2 layup? some of my friends says it was a foul
Nice
thanks!!
Lol bro it would be really nice if I could see the damn basket on half of them 😂
Ok, I hear you.
Does any know how to do the dippity do
How to do you shots when you can even see the basket?
on the thumbnail on the right,is that a molten ball?from Philippines?
It's a molten ball but not from the Philippines. It was in Europe.
Euro step!!!!!!
didnt know jessethelazer had another channel.
you are cool
So I might have a tournament so I wanna fix my layup
So many variations
Yeah but I think they're all pretty straight forward.
I sometimes overhit the layup at full speed (like in fast break). Any advice? thanks
howard LaLaLa ho with your fast break until the free throw line then take one bigger step to slow you down and just tap the ball in don't fling it up there
Slow down more than you think you should as you approach the basket and push the ball up against the backboard instead of out. My channel is basketball tips.
THX guys, but I am so afraid that someone will chase me down and block my shot. How to avoid being blocked in this situation?
It depends if the guy is taller than you. If he is you can always go for a reverse at the last minute. People don't expect this. If he is not taller, you can create space with your body and reach your arm out to create a farther distance from them when laying it up.
I'll practise that. Thx mate
Can you please tell your camera man to move Thank You!
Please tilt the camera up a bit, I cannot see where or how you're shooting it. Thank you
I know a 7th one: Same sided layup, so on a finger roll for example, you jump off the same leg as the shooting hand.
Brock Mak not really a good idea. Even if your forced too. It creates a really awkward shot that affects your percentage. If you gotta end up jumping with your leg that's on the same side as the shooting hand, it might just be better to stop and do the jumpstop layup. If there's a defender for the jumpstop, try a pump fake
xXX GodOfThunder XXx well, it works great but make sure you have your fundamentals right
xXX GodOfThunder XXx Nah it's actually very effective to throw off the timing of the defender. You can do it on your first step when you picked up your dribble. This is the layup Kyrie did against Draymond in the Finals and he mastered it.
it is great, and I think it's a more advanced layups
Great vid except camera work. Cant see where he is in relation to goal until last moment..
like hopping under the rim
thanks coach reaction time next pls
Ok, thanks for the recommendation.
Baller Boot Camp Thats why we like you coach you keep replying to comment
I need help with my jumper. Can you help?
I have some drills on my channel for shooting.
You should do workouts
I do, check out my channel. Here's one here: ruclips.net/video/GiRW1znBLyQ/видео.html
I'm 15, 5,4, weighing 190... just started to play basketball, and I wonder that what position u thinks suits best for me...
Jason Jiang ur 15, 5 4” And 190? Maybe golf would suit you more
????
cool
thnx
I made my own lay up
Then again I've been playing since I was like 6
What ball do you use
I like The Wilson Evolution. But I use Wilson Solution in my vids.
Where can I get your shirt?
I'm sorry it's not for sale right now.
everything is good, except background music. :D
Those layups def gonna get blocked...Maybe you can introduce some layups that can avoid blocks?
Yeung ricky yea, maybe a double clutch
Yeung ricky spin move euro step and up and under
On the jump stop layup u can hyperextended ur knee easily just how I see it if u disagree plz comment showing me how you can't
Thats one of the most common movements in basketball. Just don't land with your legs straight.
But what he for a small player
Up and o under anyone?
Make a Euro-Step tutorial
I have one, but I need another one for sure.
Basketbol ang buhay
I call his goofy reverse a Giannis reverse... but I don’t use glass
How to reverse lay up
I'm not new
I'm fresh
Savage
if i jump stop, can i fake and finish in other way?
Ho Keren what do you mean jump stop?
James mitchell Corpuz like hopping under the rim, like derrick rose
Your cameraman is taking full body focus where the main basket ring hard to see. I can see where you place your ball against the board.. Ever noticed it? Thanks
ayee
🏀😀 thnx
Bruh I'm youth and I can put that shit in the hoop doing under the leg layup..
Thums down because of the camera man!
slurp " suck right in the basket." Did anybody catch that. 6:49 LOLOL
I got a game today
Good luck hope you won!
You pro layup
i agree! back up camera man
OK.
