  • In today's video I breakdown 6 ways to shoot a layup in basketball.
    BallerBootCamp.com/bne -- JOIN BNE TODAY!
    Here is a list of all the different layups I demonstrated in the video:
    - Regular layup
    - Jump stop layup
    - Regular reverse layup
    - Goofy reverse layup
    - Finger roll
    - Inside hand layup
    Of course there are a ton of different ways you can finish inside but these are the 6 main ways that players must be able to do.
    The footwork is not easy on these so each one will take practice. Don't get discouraged though as in time you won't even have to think about them and they will be natural in the games.
    If you have any questions make sure to leave them in the comments below and I'll get back to you asap.
    #WeDedicated,
    Augie Johnston.

      @padfoot1535 7 лет назад +1

      Rome Jefferson it's actually is a good idea. when you play at a higher level like college ball or even pro, defenders are a lot more athletic and taller than mid school players. those players can fucking pin your shot, so when you use the off-foot layup (same-sided) you mistimed your finish which catch the defense off-guard and can't time your shot

    You have helped me a lot since I saw your channel Coach Augie! But one thing I want to know is what moves or what will I do at the very beginning of a game? Seriously, I'm always mental blocked at the very start... So can you give me tips what to do at the very beginning? It would be appreciated very very much! Thanks in advanced! :)

    • @BallerBootCamp
      @BallerBootCamp  7 лет назад +3

      Thanks for watching! I don't think there is a certain move or shot you should look for. Just play your game. The best advice I can give you is play to your strengths and hide your weaknesses.

    • @jokersmlg6582
      @jokersmlg6582 7 лет назад +1

      howard LaLaLa ho with your fast break until the free throw line then take one bigger step to slow you down and just tap the ball in don't fling it up there

    • @joshuathinkingoutloud
      @joshuathinkingoutloud 7 лет назад

      Slow down more than you think you should as you approach the basket and push the ball up against the backboard instead of out. My channel is basketball tips.

    • @howardlalala3699
      @howardlalala3699 7 лет назад

      THX guys, but I am so afraid that someone will chase me down and block my shot. How to avoid being blocked in this situation?

    • @joshuathinkingoutloud
      @joshuathinkingoutloud 7 лет назад

      It depends if the guy is taller than you. If he is you can always go for a reverse at the last minute. People don't expect this. If he is not taller, you can create space with your body and reach your arm out to create a farther distance from them when laying it up.

    • @howardlalala3699
      @howardlalala3699 7 лет назад +1

  • @BrockMak
    @BrockMak 7 лет назад +14

    I know a 7th one: Same sided layup, so on a finger roll for example, you jump off the same leg as the shooting hand.

    • @TitanUnleashed7
      @TitanUnleashed7 7 лет назад +2

      Brock Mak not really a good idea. Even if your forced too. It creates a really awkward shot that affects your percentage. If you gotta end up jumping with your leg that's on the same side as the shooting hand, it might just be better to stop and do the jumpstop layup. If there's a defender for the jumpstop, try a pump fake

    • @padfoot1535
      @padfoot1535 7 лет назад +2

      xXX GodOfThunder XXx well, it works great but make sure you have your fundamentals right

    • @ballislife9924
      @ballislife9924 7 лет назад +3

      xXX GodOfThunder XXx Nah it's actually very effective to throw off the timing of the defender. You can do it on your first step when you picked up your dribble. This is the layup Kyrie did against Draymond in the Finals and he mastered it.
