Drones have completely different flight characteristics, can't mount "nightsun" spotlights, or FLIR (Forward Looking Infra Red) devices.....nor can they report what's actually going on. York Regional police has several Helicopters, on patrol at night....and extremely successful at crime prevention....and apprehension of criminals.

Why not just buy several military style long range drones that can stay in the air for many hours? Wouldn't that be more efficient when you can have a drone that can cover a region and stay there for a long time without refueling?

It's a great reassurance to hear the Police Helicopter ON PATROL at 3AM.....knowing that it's equipped with FLIR and can see the criminals just like it's daylight.
