Excellent teaching!!! I grew up knowing Christianity was a suit, tie, King James bible, inviting others to the service, attending every time the door was open. Being called into the pastor's study after service for attending other denomination services. Being physically jerked back onto a couch by the pastor because I didn't want to become a member of his church. and he didn't like it. A person leaving the service I was singing in because I was not singing hymns. Oh Yeah, welcome to American Christianity. Not bible Christianity but American. After many years of this silliness, I was finally set free from the bondage. I will make a statement that will upset 90% of those reading. The pastor's job is NOT to preach the Word. It is not his job to get up on Sunday morning and read scriptures I have read hundreds of times over the years. NOPE! His job is to train me (a believer) of how to walk out the door and do the work of the ministry that Jesus taught. Lead by example not by words. I actually heard the pastor of the 5th largest church of a particular denomination tell us that it was not our job to pray for people outside the building, our job was to get them in the building for him to pray for them. Yeah right! If this is what Jesus taught then I am a donkey in the field. My job as a pastor is to train believers by example, to get outside and speak the only message Jesus taught (the Kingdom). Train you to the point you never have to come back to the building. Torben is reaching more people total than most churches in America reach in a lifetime. For America, this is a sad testimony. God had to send a man from Denmark to speak truth to the American Church.

This is so good. I've been of this mindset for a while. The church is for believers to worship God and stir up each other in love and good works. It's not a place to minister to sinners. Yet so many mainline denominations are inviting in sinners by the droves and loosening up doctrine to not offend them. Throwing repentance by the wayside so that the sinners keep coming back. They do it to their own demise. Christ is coming back for His spotless bride. The church full of people professing belief but living in unrepentant sin are not spotless. We're to witness to people outside of church, make believers of them then bring them into the assembly. People do occasionally stumble in (see Paul's warnings on unruly meetings in 1 Corinthians 14) and that's ok. But it should not be the norm. They should be welcomed and ministered to as needed until they become believers. But this should not be the goal. We're to "go" make disciples. The going is the opposite of bringing the unsaved into a church in the hopes they'll hear a message and repent.
Amen bro!! The church is a living organism. Well, it's supposed to be living. We put too much emphasis on the assembly, and not enough on being the actual hands and feet of Jesus. Great comment! Love you.

Marrie Chrissie Valley the Holy Spirit doesn’t make anyone speak in tongues but we get to speak in tongues. The Holy Spirit never forced anyone to do anything but is a comforter or counselor.We speak ,yes we speak as the Holy Spirit gives us utterances. The spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet. that I have been like the “hallelujah guy” that he talks about.
In our old church they would usually call the "1st timers" to go to the front before the service ends so that every person can come to the front to shake their hand or give them a hug. Since i was a shy person it terrified me😁 i didnt want to be "singled out". I imagine how hard it must be for the others too.
God's Word is living & powerful. We overcomplicate it. This was an excellent teaching on making disciples. Let's get to work people.

My Church does not pass an offering plate we have a box in the corner you can donate too. my Church first has a free breakfast, then we have announcements, then music, then ask if anyone's has a testimony of something good God did in their lives, preaching out of the Bible, then we ask if anyone wants to come to the alter
When am around others am always thinking how do I shear Gods word , its funny and this is why we are not effective in reaching others. We need the Holy Spirit to help us reach more people . Well said .

Yes, people you invite to church rarely show up
Yet many think they have done God's work by simply giving an invitation. It's very different to captivating someone's soul and reminding them, who they are (a child of God), and where they came from (in the image of God). People forget who they are and where they came from, and form their own identity of 'this is me'. But it is often extremely fragile if it goes outside of its boundaries. And this is the reason many might laugh you off if you try to bring the gospel to them. However, this is the kind of fear meant to scare you off, and this is much more a reason to try to engage with this person by example. If they can be so positive to laugh you off, they can also be positive to listen to you.

Church does suck which is why it's so low in attendance. like 5%< where i live. Plus most people don't really believe they go for cultural reasons. I know i sure don't believe.

The Word of God says=1st Corinthians 14:23-25 talks about the outsider being brought to repentance entering the church when any prophesy is being preached, that he will be convicted on all accounts that he will fall on his face worshiping God and saying "God is really among you".
True, Torben is not discounting that a person can get saved visiting a church, it happens...but its far easier to win a soul to Christ outside of church than hope that the preacher will share the Gospel and lead someone to repentance.
Love Torben and his heart for truth. I agree, if the church functioned as it should, this kind of evangilism would be at work inside the church and outside the church.

That passage says that if everyone in the church was prophecying then the presence of God would flow through everyone full of the Holy Spirit and conviction then people would experience the presence of God and repent.

I mean practical street evangelism tips.
You gave some in this video already, like asking the contact "what do you know about God" etc

To start the conversation in the street is depending on the situation and the person, I think. There are many suggestions in the videos on The Pioneer School and the short videos from The Last Reformation. Be blessed and be lead by the Holy Spirit, Who will give you the words you’ll have to speak.
Look up NoPlaceLeft. They have a lot of good gospel tools. Specifically search for no place left three circles. Three circles is a pretty simple way to explain the gospel with a drawing. I like it. There are many more. But depending on where you are in the world there could be somebody to help you. There might be NoPlaceLeft people. But also go the The Last Reformation website they have a map of people who have been trained by them in evangelism and are willing to help others as well.
Well, content can only guide you to a degree, it is faith which is required, a faith that is pure. Things happen somewhat naturally, when the spirit is full in you. If you think about it, and imagine it, you can see it is true. Bring people close to God, so that they see that God really is missing in their lives, and God is needed in their lives. No person who is without God (the belief, since God is always present), is infallible to self.
Pray, go out, use what comes to mind, get into uncomfortable situations, overcome fear of men, and along the line God's spirit will give you what you need. Gospel is not just a sum of catch phrases but a flow of the Spirit. How can you unlock that without a plunge into the unknown?

I spoke to a few people on the map, and they seemed to be apprehensive, like I was a challenge. Some pointed me to another person (not taking the challenge at all), others gave the usual advice of pray or read the bible (shifting responsibility), the one I engaged with a little more spoke with a wall between us (as in being nice but cautiously nice rather than genuine). Took me a lot to even get to that point, and kind of lost hope really. I am open, but highly sensitive, and my main concern was in being seen as a possible disciple or follower rather than a person who may not ever be a part of this; only God knows.
That is an important part in any following, because sometimes followers become obsessed with growing members by being extra nice 'for a reason' rather than letting people choose for themselves, and simply being charitable Samaritans here to heal and help, anyone and everyone who needs it, no matter how big the challenge, and not helping only when the challenge is small and the person is completely vulnerable so to say. After all, didn't God bring you to any moment? It depends where your heart is. I just hoped to find a strength from people that really inspired me, like the old lady who always has a kind word and thoughtful advice for every person (maybe I compare people to my mother bless her soul, who really was a follower of Jesus). Suppose I was just unlucky and didn't come across any Torben's, or people full of fearless passion in their love for God, over their fear of challenges or people who don't easily trust or love (as in loving only those who love you which is much easier, which Jesus said what is the point in that?). Maybe that's because I live in the UK though.
I love helping people, it would just be nice one day to find someone who says, let me help you for a change. Maybe because I have experienced most challenges, makes it easy for me to help others, but also makes me hard to help, I don't know. People don't know what to say or how to respond. That is fear though, and it isn't love whenever you do that. There must be someone out there who helps without fear, without doubt and without judgement. The only point at which I have these issues, is when I try to help myself. People are the catalyst for change in others, it's not just me, myself, and God. God works through people. His work is done through people. On top of that, everyone, deserves God's Love, which means that, every single person deserves your Love. If you are truly close to God, you know it.
I've been there, but when you fall, and everyone turns away from you, it kind of makes you think, what is going on here? Do people only help those who are easy to help?

I would like to ask ya, humbly....why are you interpreting "Are you sure you're ready" as a push away? It's a good question, that seems to urge people to seriously think about whether or not they are committed to going out. If you are ready, why not just answer "yes"?
Tess W I did answer yes. Why wasn't that enough? The fact that I poured out everything, and said that God led me to an awaking should have said, "she is ready." I wouldn't ask if I wasn't sure. I don't ask to test waters. I just gotta save money, and find a way to Torben. Because he seems like the ONLY ONE willing help people, spend time with them, and teach without assuming you didn't just say" "yes". 😉

I ve heard a real story of a guy whom greatest dream were to become a kung fu expert ,so he went to monks for...which in Romania, there are just christian monks..🤣 ,after a while, he thought it was a test for patience, he asked the direkt question " when do we Start the Training?!
