- FIX! This song used to be called Under The Surface, but then I changed it to The Surface, so when I posted this I mistitled it with the original name. Whoops! Ignore the slightly wrong video.
This is yet another upload from Building Better Worlds, and probably one of my favorite projects that came from that album. It's dark, it's rocky, and just a little evil. Those qualities are appropriate I suppose, considering this is a song I wrote about my Discord headcanon. It's his "psychopathic demigod" side that we haven't seen in the show, but I like to write about. For the first time, I must warn you. This song contains explicit language!
Halfway through writing I realized the song could be made even better by recording with GatoPaint, a very talented guitarist and overall musician. Enjoy his music here, and enjoy it on his channel!

I little put off by hearing you swear. I didn't even know you COULD swear. Still, fits the style.
Regardless, probably my favorite song on the album, in terms of how it sounds. I couldn't pick a favorite in terms of lyrics, which is my favorite part about your music, because that was SO much outstanding writing on that album. Jeez, I love you mor with each release.

That still leaves the mystery if he can swear or not though. o.o
In the last verse:
"There's nothing you can do

He'll VERY occasionally say crap in his streams. That's about it. He's only really used hell as a proper noun, to some extent, like "Hell I've been through" or "Raise a little hell." I think he just swore for the sake of this being a really heavy rock song. He's too sweet and cuddly to include such things in his normal vocabulary.

The synth-guitar combo on this song is amazing, and the smooth, harmonic vocals complement it perfectly.

Most music I listen to I get bored with in about a week... but your music has somehow kept me enticed for roughly a year now... freaking fantastic! You are by far one of my favorite artist by far, so glad I decided to listen to one of your songs!
As far as lyrical content goes, I prefer content that I can personally relate to, or that I agree with in some way, which this one doesn't seem to have in any way...
But as far as genres go, this is totatlly my thing. You have NO idea how satisfying it is to listen to this. That crisp and clear synth after the choruses, Gato's INSANE guitar solo, and those intro vocals are just SO good. One of my favorites of this album.
You two did an incredible job. Well done!

Aviators can u next try something creepy/scary/mysterious? just like Creeping in my soul by Cryoshell. that wuold totally sound awesome, just like your song Shadows.

Although they aren't really creepy, the songs 'Ghosts in the Code' from the previous album and 'Blur The Line' from this album share a few similarities with some of Cryoshell's songs, structure- and instrumentation-wise.
So if you haven't listened to those yet, definitely do!

btw, u wanna know how i found cryoshell? i was a big bionicle fan back in the good old days, and last month i woke up singing their song "Bye bye babylon" weird, isnt it? so i searched the line that i heard the most (bye bye babylon) on youtube and found it. after google-ing the band to find out if there is a special reason that most of the videos i find are with bionicle commercial scenes, i found out they were only made to make songs for these commercials, and yeah, since the barraki are the 3rd coolest, but the coolest who have a cryoshell commercial song, which was Creeping in my soul, i kept searching for, well, lets call it, ok, i used the youtube converter, stop complaining. now i have most of their cool songs and stuff.
btw, is your profile picture a bionicle mask? it looks like it would be, but since there are new ones to come up this year, (who will never be as good as the original, but its ok as long as lego keeps those hero factory losers locked away) i dont know all the new masks and bionicles and powers and everything.

I kinda wish on the album the swears weren't censored. At least on Spotify they are. It kinda ruins the flow of the song when it sounds like the lyrics cut out. Otherwise fantastic song, one of my favorites on the album.

This song is so damn awesome. The only thing that would make it better is if the vocals were a bit more... I don't know. Throaty? Harsh? Just something to really nail home that vibe that I get from the instrumental. Speaking of which, dat ending solo!

I'm not a huge MLP fan, but I know that Discord is more of a player than a brute. So of course he'd talk (or sing in this case) in a more psychopathic, and scarily calm tone. So the vocals and the instrumental go hand in hand really: The vocals are his literal words, the backtrack are the consequences of his actions.
Hhhh, once again, I am reminded of how beautiful Aviators' music is.
My ears have never been in contact with such foul language. My life has been scarred in ways no amount of time can heal.
Just kidding. I love it!

Here is my personal question here: Why did you change the song title from Under The Surface to The Surface? I really thought Under The Surface fit the song better as a title, but it is your choice, I would like to know why you did it, as I Love the song and thought at first it was Under The Surface, (reading the description helps alot). Otherwise great song, having it repeat alot now a days. Good Job!

If Discord ever got corrupted by the alicorn amulet like what happened to Trixie, I can almost picture him singing this song in the MLP show! He was kind of toned down in his first appearance because if Discord used the full extent of his power it would've destroyed Ponyville if you think about it.

there are just a few types of music i really love: songs that start slow but turn heavy metal after some time, songs that start rocky and get slower, but mysterious, and songs that are just metal, at least hard rock, and tell stories no other has the balls to tell, like Sabaton´s Final solution. or Amon Amarth´s Blood eagle.

I have a feeling the reason he changed the name was because Undertale had been released a couple months after this went up, and the song is pretty much well in tune with the Story of Undertale (at least in the genocide run) it honestly fits very well with the Game, despite being a song for MLP.

I rather hope the explicit language doesn't become a normal thing with your music. I like being able to depend on clean lyrics from you. That being said, the clean edit of The Surface was my favorite track of the album. Even though I wish it were still a bit cleaner. So well done!

This song is so cool sounding! This sort of music isn't really my type, but hey, if Aviators makes a song of a genre I don't particularly enjoy, I'll probably like it. The part I didn't like was this. 1:45 I really wasn't expecting that, especially from Aviators.
