The Sinking of the Cardboard Oasis

  • The Cardboard Oasis was the first Cardboard Cruise Lines' ship to have a watertight bulkhead spanning the entire height of the ship. However , the weight of forward half of the ship, trying to pull the aft end down, proved to be too much for the thin cardboard bulkhead.

How the Cardboardian Corporation is still in business is life's greatest memory.
    Probably surviving off insurance money.
And folks who are adrenaline junkies and secretly hoping to be part of a sinking mega ship story.
Edit: Wow seeing the stern disappear into the murky depths is scary.

    • @helloimskip

Some to this day believe that Cardboardian Corporation purposely sink their ships in order to collect insurance money. And the "survivors" are just paid actors.

Damn when the stern did that final tilt up and then sink straight down as you watch it sink deep into the depths of the water was so dramatic. I loved it, that was James Cameron-level cinematography. You always do such good work I take it the reason you build so large you said that you do get a proper sinking with the weight properly balanced as it sinks scale probably has a lot to do with how realistically good your ships SINK!

I purchased my ticket on the Oasis to get away after the holidays. The cruise was fun and relaxing until…the ice punctured her hull. The horror ensued is unspeakable as the corrogations collapsed and became water logged. The people were frantic. Three of us made it on the a rubber life raft. It began to get cold, damn cold. We made it to an ice shelf and began walking to keep warm. Englebert was eaten by a polar bear. I was lucky to escape with my life when we were finally picked up by the cardbordia rescue. The administration gave us credit for the next Cardbordia ship cruise which should be better so I might go on that one.

I remember this. I was Third Officer Dewitt Joddison of the Cardboard Cruise Line. Just in the morning when crew was preparing dinner for passengers, the captain ordered me “Hard a’ port!” Which meant to turn the ship all the way to starboard. I repeated the command to the helmsman as Second Officer Harold Isenhour reversed full astern. I was still oblivious to what was going on, but I quickly noticed, we were easing straight for an Iceberg. I asked the captain after the collision, if I should prepare the lifeboats or do a damage inspection, I ended up doing a damage inspection. Twenty minutes later, I came back and reported flooding in the first three compartments, and the captain ordered the boats to be filled and lowered. The video really shows the rest. After that, I found myself on debris in the sea, and I got picked up by Lifeboat 6 and Isenhour. Rest In Peace to all those who didn’t make it.
