What I love about Hugh and your work is that it really is ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC / RECORDING. A lottery win and I'm calling you up. I have a very simple system in a med sized room and my simple little Nautilus 805s completely disappear. I can only imagine what it's like when you have the luxury of a very well designed room. Hi First of all, congratulations on your dedicated room. Have you made measurements with Room EQ Wizard for example? It is to see the reverb that reflects on the T20,T30, Waterfall, ETC, etc. Do you have recorded audios of your favorite songs in your living room? Written with google translator. Greetings.
I'm just getting back into loving home audio again, and I have seen many, many videos. I'm new to this channel. So far Danny Richie at GR Research has me hooked for his simple approach and brilliant and honest mind. But absolutely nothing I've ever seen comes close to this room (and maybe the knowledge). Wow! $350,000 bucks! And from all the boys here are saying, yeah, there's something about it. Thank you! Subscribed.
I don't understand the science, but it clearly works . As a tradesman I wish I could work on jobs like this to Test my skills, it is very rare that a client actually lets me be a craftsman, A lot of respect for this man to build his vision and exceed his expectations.
Agreed. It took lots of physical labor and materials to achieve the apperance shown. The sonic benefits were equal to the efforts placed in the room form and function.
I would love to see a detailed engineering discussion from Dennis around the various considerations that went into the final room design along with some room acoustic measures to demonstrate the outcome. Very interesting real world example.
Insane!! Just insane! Both the wife and I are watching and happy for him! While dying inside a tiny bit lol... This is a great vid too. Huge improvement on the lighting/b-roll. Looks great!
Brilliant! Great project, the ultimate in a listening experience. Also a bravo for that door. I noticed the lack of seam, when it's closed, before you mentioned it. You and your brother must get a long, judging by the craftsmanship put in that door alone.
@@AcousticFields Great job on your part. Everyone's so happy with the results you yield. I've dealt a lot with sound acoustics in my Bars and Cafes. Really happy for Hugh. What an incredible room. Great job by both of you. Hugh, I remember going down to the local Hifi store to listen to the Klipsch horns. They might even had a center channel (La Scala?)

Large soundtstage with height, width, and depth. Separation between instruments and vocals. Along with all of this "air" comes a definition and resolution that surpases any scale I am aware of. A very, very, successful project in many domains.
Amazing room. I'm curious the total cost of this build, as this seems to be near perfect conditions, starting everything from scratch with proper dimensions and build. I'm assuming the budget was over 100k.
Wow!!! A dedicated detached room the size of a hanger???? Hugh represents the .0001%. Even multi-millionaires with dedicated rooms don't go this far. Congratulations. This video is more informational than educational. Theoretical even. "Nobody" is going to do this... but it's cool to see.
@@AcousticFields I believe it. There are over 800 billionaires and over 18 million millionaires in the USA alone. Some of them have to be into the HiFi hobby.
Just Amazing! Is that regular shape with 90 degrees corners the best shape for an ideal room? I was thinking into more round shape and ceiling not parallel to the floor...
As a general rule, rectangular rooms are easier to treat since their issues are consistent and predictable which allows for more effective treatment response.
@acoustic sounds and Hugh, congrats!! I am considering purchasing a Gryphon Trident II. Could you give some feedback about it? Are the top frequencies open or a bit closed? How is the body, dinamics, detail, timbre, etc? Thanks

Great room!!!!!!!!!! Glad to see more people doing this and paying attention to the most important component - the ROOM (other than the recording - recording engineer is king). However I must take issue with Mr. Foley's assessment "close your eyes and the speakers disappear". IMHO the speakers should disappear WITH your eyes OPEN (too). And it should capable of "take you there" more so than "in the room".
The density of your door must match the density of the walls in which it is attached. Sound is like water. It will find the weakest link in the structure and go through it.

Hi, I have read that when using multiple diffusers in arrays, they need to 'modulated' ie different heights, to avoid 'hot spotting' interactions between adjacent diffusers? Can you share some insight on that? Thanks!!
wondering the same thing... the lobing when using multiple periods without modulating... Although when looking closely, i see two periods left horizontal dispersion, then the door (not sure which type diffusor that is) and the middle upper wall with vertical diffusion also two periods, and then back to two periods horizontal diffusion on the right.... So maybe it's a non issue.
Wow looks amazing!! Is the formula different for a home theater room? I’m glad I stumbled upon this video before I invested a lot of money into bass traps. Would love your advice for my room. How do I get in contact with you?
Happy for Hugh, his family and all of those who will have a chance to listen to music in it! Is the door really tight without a magnetic seal? Dennis, the walls are covered with plywood without small holes in it to make it sound more lively?
Learned a lot from this video. I'm sure it sounds amazing! I have one question. Why did you choose a rectangular room (with golden proportions) when you could have built any shape you wanted? The reason I'm asking is that most software calculates rectangular rooms more easily, yet several of the best sounding acoustical halls in the world are in fact not that shape. Ceiling not parallel to the floor, side walls tapered (slightly wider room in front - narrower in rear), slight tilt on front wall etc. I get that you don't want to miniaturise a large hall due to the shorter distances and quicker response of a smaller space, I don't understand why we start with rectangular rooms. Why not the Epidaurus as the starting point?
Acoustic halls and critical listening rooms are two completely different animals. In a critical listening room, we focus all the energy on one seat. In halls, the focus is on a much larger audience with a larger sound field. Rectangular rooms are predictable and consistent in their room modal issues allowing for treatment types to be placed more effectively.
Looks great.. The luxury of a well designed dedicated listening room. Apart from the Gryphon speakers and electronics, I think I see some MSB Digital front end, but I may be wrong..
