24:24 I do engine in frame first, before anything else. Lay the engine on it's side on the ground and then place the frame on from over the top. Less chance of damaging paint, and it's significantly easier on the back as a one-man-job.

I think viewers need an element of completion; it's more satisfying for me to watch something like your 7 day build rather than bits and pieces of other builds. Tutorial videos are always helpful but in their own video that you can specifically name and put in a playlist. For me, the 7 day build series is perfect watching, even if in reality you might have to make it 14 days so you can sleep and have a life!

I like this style of video, where I can learn something. Like South main auto repair lcc and Uncle Tony's garage.
And black engine with red valve cover would've looked good too. And red calipers.

Hey Tyler. For what it's worth, some of us are not tired of the Honda content. I think these 70's classics are great bikes and fun to ride. I'm biased because I have one and currently looking for another. Learning a lot from your videos. Keep up the good work. Look forward to seeing the finished bike. Cheers👍

Great job, Taylor! Old man with a bad back tip for installing engines into these old Honda’s. Lay the engine on its right side and then carefully fish the frame over the engine and get the engine mounting bolts started and then upright the entire works. This also helps to not scratch up the paint on the engine/frame. This technique also works in reverse for removing the engine. Keep it up, love the channel!

I’ve done the duel disc conversion on my cb550. Not so easy as the caliper bracket needs to be mirror reversed not just flipped over so takes a lot of machine work (or filling) to get the caliper to line up right. Also the speedo dive on the axle does not clear the second disc, so that took heaps of finessing to get it to make the speedo drive cable work. Be much easier to run a gps speedo and do away with the speedo drive and cable all together. Running a after market 1/2” master cylinder which works fine. Spliting the brake line was the easy with a duel line bango bolt. Wayne.

I like how you focus more on the core content and not any of the useless music and other effects. You give me what I want and that is tips and how to content. Keep it going!

Much easier to put the engine on its side on the bench with some blocks then fit the bare frame over the engine.
Put in some engine mounts and then you can then put the bike 'right way up'.
This was an absolute game changer for me.
    All the best

I only recently started watching videos on this channel.
But I can say I much rather prefer this video format than timelapses and jump cuts.
Not that there was anything wrong with it. Since you also have a deadline for the project and have lots to do.
But I really like to see how other people work on stuff, that also have a lot more experience than I do.

The video format you taking is greatly appreciated and this is what is going to grow your business.

Just make sure you lift with your legs. : ) I'm a Honda owner, so I love the Honda content. I wouldn't mind seeing some more old British bikes though... I'm going to get a 60's Triumph, Norton or BSA for my next bike. Being new to this stuff, your videos on checking ignition timing and valve clearance were both very helpful.

I loved the kawi build and the triumph build and all the Honda builds, but I would love to see you do a sportster in this style (brat? scrambler? cafe-ish?) with a frame hoop, bench seat, etc. That would make my day. I personally don't mind when you time lapse or jump cut over something you've already done in detail.

Also great to see timelapse from the vaporblaster too!

Just got a 1976 cb550 from my neighbors in october last year, hasnt been registered since 1998 but im working on retitling it and after that its all out, bikes been dropped on both sides (while standing still) so ive got the headlight brackets to straighten out, i will be adding another gound to the light systen as it was parked due to wiring harness melting because the ground went bad on the coils, runs pretty good and carbs are immaculate since it was "winterized" before sitting for over a decade and it has 4 into 2 vintage jardine pipes with no baffles so it sounds as good as it looks (oklahoma bike so little rust and the paint is decent for it being original), your videos helped me adjust the cam chain tension and valves so now it sounds like a sewing machine as opposed to a chainsaw, i am at tech for diesel technician training but my passion is bikes, brand doesent matter because i love all motorcycles whether they are vintage, modern, retro, asian, american or european in origin.

Not to mention i have history on the bike from my dads roommate that cleaned its gummy carbs back in '86 while he was at Vocational school for bikes and powersports, how i found out about the bike was my good friend who is living with his grandparents and his grandmothers late husband had passed on was the previous owner so while his grandma and grandpa (her current husband i believe) is wanting the shed space for material and they had no use for the bike so they let me have it for free in which my buddy, my brother, my dad and I gain enjoyment from the experience and information we learn, from working on it, my dads worked on bikes for most his adult life till me and my brother came around 17 years ago and even though they arent the safest vehicles especially such an old bike for a beginner rider (i have many hours experience with off road and a little experience on road) i think he enjoys me learning on old school cool kinda tech, its quite obvious by now but i like telling me a good story.

Glad you're in a good mood. It always puts me in a good mood when I'm doing something to my bike. I upgraded to Dynatek coils last week. I'm new to this stuff, so I'm learning as I go. I really enjoyed doing the new spark plug wires and everything else that came with the coil swap. It was such a great feeling when the bike fired up and ran like a dream afterward. In this high-tech-short-attention-span world, nothing beats doing some wrenching and actually accomplishing your goal. ALSO....Check out Dunn Lewis in DC, they have a DYI type garage space similar to what you're talking about. It's pretty cool.

Many on the SOHC/4 Forum have done the dual front disc brake conversion. Slickest I saw was using a Goldwing brake splitter on the brake lines and a 14mm master cylinder from 4into1. I love the cb500/550 content. I've done two (71 & 78) and probably will do two more. I like the scramblers you've done. Be careful with your back. Stop lifting those engines alone.

The bike's looking great. You may want to investigate Discord as a means to have instant input from viewers/customers. Particularly when thinking about giveaways. Dunno if you're aware of Yammie Noob who's in your general area but after he began using discord his subs started climbing regularly. Lotta guys use Patreon as did Yam, but he set-up his own web page to cut out a lotta middle-man bs. Btw, it's great to see someone of a younger generation showing these (now antique) bikes some love. My newest bike is a '92 GSX1100F. My others are 42-43 yr old KZ 900-1000. On the brakes I've used stainless wrapped teflon lines, and a Y split for duals as well as two separate lines direct from the master cylinder (both stock). Upgraded masters really only become necessary on bikes capable of race speeds (150 and greater mph) where fade becomes an issue.

We used to do the double disc conversions on CB 750’s back in the ‘70’s. We had to use CR-750 (factory Daytona racer) master cylinders. What would be cool would be for you to drill lightening holes in the discs. I had that set-up on my CB-750 K3 back in the mid-70’s.

I like this style more as it has more detail and less leaping from start to finish as if by magic. I live in San Antonio. Have a 75 CB550F. Have worked on it quite a bit but reached the limit if my experience. Would love your input if possible.
As far as a DIY shop, lots of issues with risk and liability. So insurance and liability contracts would be needed. As far as a bike give away, i think you have to have a way for entries to be free but can give away entries with purchases. Not too sure but yeah, some red tape.
I would love to work a bike shop but my knowledge is experience based and not professional. But as an IT guy with a lot of skills, i could see myself doing it as a passion.
The videos I like are where the repetitive parts are time lapse such as remove multiple screws etc. However, it also nice to see a close up detail view when it comes to troubleshooting or how you like to gap valves or what not.
Also mentioning common issues and how to maybe fix them like a squeaky front break that just wont stop or an idle that just wont stay put after rebuilding a carb etc.
But i like your channel and recomend it to other bikers, especially Honda riders.
I am at the point where my issue is taking a lot of time to figure out and would just like to know how i get in line to have you check my bike out and more or less the cost. I live in San Antonio off 281 North and would love to ride it up there and get a few tips or pay for some solid work. Im at the point where i may just sell it but i hate to do that after so much work.
Also, i know a advert company here called Redsmith my girl works at. If you need some posters, car wraps, motorcycle wraps done for your biz, i can probably find out some info. They did some Harley stuff.
There a lot of ways to network and I know San Antonio need good classic bike help. I reached out to a few here and zero response from some.

New to your channel, like your style of presentation...Relaxed and informative. Always a scary moment fitting the motor in a freshly painted frame, I securely prop the motor on it's side, and lift and fit the fully stripped frame hoop over it. A 150 pound motor is quite struggle on your own when your past 60..

Put together day! *edit 1 at the 12ish min mark: I completely agree with the business sense of continuing Hondas. They also just work and the following is very much a cult level. You're doing what you love, so keep it up. Edit 2 at about 20 mins: mix has been good for just an overall updates. Time-lapse of all of it is a good format with the cutins of explanation. Idea for another build is a late model build, like something from the 90s to early 2k? *final edit: looking fantastic! Another thought for a build could be an early to mid 80s CB650sc build, like a blackout or, for something I've never seen before, a whiteout. Keep it up!

Todays episode was a great mix of work , chatter and time lapse, well done. The bike is looking great.

Great work. The time lapses are cool (definitely keep incorporating those) and I like the idea of mixing in more talking-while-working (1st person hanging out with Mustie1) style segments. Even if you didn't have the segment planned out and set up to go smoothly, it is fun to share that 'Hmmm' moment when something doesn't go quite right. Especially when the mechanic goes with what you were thinking and the viewer is all like 'yep, great minds think alike.'
I live in Austin and definitely would consider a shop and tool sharing thing if I was restoring a vintage bike, could have used that 5 years ago when I was redoing a CB750. Or if you expand into high tech bikes, tuning fuel injection ECUs and whatnot, perhaps someday we can work on my speed triple.

Great videos Taylor. Think a good balance between time-lapse and interactive. I might personally prefer more time-lapse due to condensed content. Idea of club membership is really different and worth exploring. where builders can benefit from having specialized equipment...once again more content and enabling weekend builders to showcase their creativity and enthusiasm...it will make for great watching.

Like this style - we're here for the content. And...if Honda's float your boat keep with the Hondas, it's your channel (a dirt bike like an XR400 would be interesting)!

Another way to get pistons out is with a grease gun, but you need a suitable screw in grease nipple for the banjo bolt hole. Shifts just about any stuck in brake piston and here they do get really corroded in.

Great video. Compressed air pops those brake caliper pistons straight away in seconds. Filing the engine fins on the head would also be a great contrast(think Triumph speedmaster, Kawasaki z1.

Love the longer/how to format. I’m currently building a Honda cb550, couldn’t have done it without all of your great content.

I have 2 bikes. One is a 250 Cafe Racer modeled from the Honda Rebel 250. The other is a Rebel 500 that I am adding my own touches to it.
