You guys give the best reviews. No matter what type of gear I'm looking at, there's a good chance you have reviewed it and answered most of the questions I had. Makes going to the store to try things a lot easier. Cheers from Canada.
I'm planing to buy vt 120+ , i wasnt sure whether I can get the sound I was looking for, but now i do :) thanks to them
Just a heads-up correction guys. The 99 memory slots referred to at 2:24 are factory pre-sets (that CAN'T be tweaked & saved in their original position), these are NOT user memory slots. There are only 8 user memory slots that can be custom programmed & recalled! By the way, for those confused at 1:38 with Chappers 'Weirding module' remark - it comes from the film 'Dune' based on 'Frank Herbert's book (which incidentally had Sting playing a baddie - so a musical link there too!). Best, Rich
@ggwhipple The VT40+ is both deafeningly loud and whisper quiet. The clean amp models are awesome. You'll love the Dumble ODS, Fender Twin/Super/Bassman, the Bruno Cowtipper Pro 22, Vox AC30, and the Matchless DC30 models for country playing. Their are tons more too. THE SECRET TO THIS AMP'S TONE IS TO MAX THE MASTER VOLUME AND USE THE WATTAGE CONTROL AS YOUR VOLUME.
Remember this amp has a dual-triode12AX7 in it's output circuit. Vox has simulated a push-pull tube amp brilliantly. It sings!
Nice amplifier. Cute dog.
@slimmetalpickn the vt 80+ does have a smaller speaker than the vt 100 aswell doesnt it.....the biggest factor in determining how loud an amp is is the speakers efficiency, a good effecient 97db/w/m speaker in a 30 watt amp will sound as loud as a cheapo 90db/w/m speaker does in a 100 watt amp
Thanks, these guys play the right things to demo this kind of amp and they've got a great sense of humour. Thanks ,I love the amp,Vox really has stepped it up.
this amp is great for amatures who dont have the money for pedals but want to experiment with effects, the amp offers a great variety of tones for diferent styles of play, i have the vt40+ and havent dared to put it on full volume, and the higher you put the power level the more ballsy and rich the tone gets. This is a great amp! highly recommend it :)
Always loved the sound of this amp and well worth the money.
I get the weirding module reference Usul. I'm an a hobbiest looking to buy an amp and your reviews are wonderful. Thank you sir!
I almost didn't watch, for Rob's shredding, thanks Lee, for playing like a human!
I own the Vt-30 predecessor model, it's fantastic. I found about 6-8 favorite amp settings in the first day. Super versatile!
I had the VOX AD 30VT - great little practice amp - killer tones and super flexible - would happily reacommend these to anyone.
Yes, the metal tone setting on the VT40+
Glad I saw this - was considering it but not anymore. It does have some nice features, but all I need is a great overdrive and clean tone, not all the bells and whistles. Sounds like it would be a fantastic buy for a first amp.
I changed the tube in the amp and the distortion smoothed up nicely
1:06 ... the dog is sniffing the gritty tones with approval
Great demo ! just shows a small part of how versatile this amp is !! The Dog is awesome too !!
Eric Clapton - Cocaine,
Blur - Song 2,
U2 - Pride (In The Name Of Love),
Metallica - Orion,
Steve Vai - For the Love of God,
Joe Satriani - Satch Boogie,
Slayer - Raining Blood,
Oasis - Wonderwall,
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit,
Aerosmith - Walk This Way,
AC/DC - Back in Black,
Some Bluesy stuff and Chappers SHRED! :-)
Love your channel, keep it up ;)
The '+' amps have attenuators so you can increase the wattage of the amp to more than the name suggests. For example, the VT40+ can go up to 60 watts :)
so glad to have one of these amps
Great practice amp or small room jam amp. I prefer tube, but I've always appreciated the versatility and convenience of the Valvetronix amps for playing at the house.
I've got an ad15vt, theyre really good! wayyyy more subtle and versatile than most modeling amps!
This sure sounds better than it did during your 4 modeling amp shootout video.
i bought today a vox valvetronix vt30 and i gotta say that it is AWESOMEEEE!!!! if this one is as good as the vt30 it is great!!
I got very similar amp- VOX ad30vt and its fuc*ing awesome . as a beginner ( its my second year on electric guitar ) you can make literally any type of sound you imagine. I strongly recommend VOX.
Thumbs up for the dog
I've got a 50vt that I got for practice at home but it made it's way on stage as my gigging amp several times. On a good four twelve cab it rocks! Stands above my other guitar players 5150 no problem. I use an artec noise gate, digital delay and the rest i use out of the amp effects. Really a bad ass amp. I play heavy but love blues also and this amp does both really really well. I usually use my Les Paul classic with an invader coil tapped in the bridge.. Fucking mean and perfect!! \m/
Chappers your vibrato is sick. Keep up the good work.
2:38 Satch Boogie - Joe Satriani
2:49 Raining Blood - Slayer
2:24 Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nrevana
3:35 Walk This Way - Aerosmith
4:45 Back IN Black - AC/DC
that dog is ADORABLE!!!!!!!
from what i understand of this amp, you can store 8 presets.. the 99 are just the amps presets itself.. correct me if i'm wrong.
The only songs I recognized is Orion, For the Love of God, Satch Boogie, Raining Blood, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Walk This Way, & Back In Black! Excellent review. 421st like right here >:p!
there's also some ratm
Cocaine-Eric Clapton at 0:35-0:51
Orion-Metallica at 1:39-1:46
For The Love Of God-Steve Vai at 1:57-2:20
Satch Boogie-Joe Satriani at 2:36-2:47
Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana at 3:23-3:32
Back In Black-AC/DC at 3:44-4:04
That's all I can name ;)
I wonder how it would sound if one connected it to a Bogner 4X12 cabinet, if it would be a good and plausible combination.
thats the cutest puppy i've ever seen =]
The Dog is So EPIC !
No - model, but it's got a valve pre-amp to give it a tubier sound than most. Damn good for its price too - cheapest valve is a good £100 2nd hand.
getting this amp now, + ive alwaays wanted to come to this store!
I heard one of these yesterday at guitar center, guy had it sounding like a randy rhoads tone, was quite impressed with the sound , then the price $249?? might get one.
Lee doesn’t look any older today than he does in this video. Is he taking medicinal compound, most efficacious in every way.
Awesome dog you got there...also great modeling creation for Vox. I'm thinking about switching from Peavey modeling. I enjoy just about any sound on the market(scratch death and emo/industrial). should i get the 40+? yes or no.
Thank you Monkey Lord and Lee ..i was looking this up in a store and you have brought forth my thoughts.....
i am a bedroom guitarist/keyboardist tho i want a amp and i like Vox and vox sounds idk if getting a Modeling amp is a good idea since i had a Vypyr and got sick of it. after a good couple of months
@kartkidd They have one tube in them, but its not used like a power tube - its in there to add some tube flavour, but its not the same as an all tube amp.
I'm considering this one or the 120+ model. Gotta decide between this and the Peavey 6505 combos though and those are just WOW! The Vox does have digital effects on board though and presets which are nice.... tough choices...
4:12 amazing clean :O
@Gizmotron44 Its my guitar - the first decent guitar I ever owned. Its an 86 USA Strat that I've modified & refinished over the years. I love the HSH combination.
Glad you got a chance to play. LOL Saw the pooch and I thought that Chappers had aged ;-) Put the dog in more videos. Since you guys are from across the pond why not put an English Bulldog in the vids. Who do you think has the effects nailed down better, Vox or Line 6? I've heard too many of the Line 6 effects that are just over the top. Great video guys.
That Shar Pei rocks
This amp is good for training and playing with bands, but no shows...for gigs it's the VT80+ or the VT120+
The VT80 has 120W, and do good with small/medium presentations!
"Rage Against The Machine" - "Know Your Enemy", at 1:45-1:55. I fucking love that riff. Their first album has amazing riffs and it's groovy as shit!
Too bad the amp sounds like most of the other modeling amps. It's not bad, but at its best it's just "okay". What's missing is the PUNCH. Cleans are just ok, bluesy & lower gain stuff are just ok, heavy tones are scooped etc. But it's a good way to discover tones and find out how things sound like etc. Much better for a 1st amp than a tube amp.
Chappers, is this a good amp if you want versatility, good clean sounds, effects and dirty/higain sounds? Please answer truthfully :)
I think it's just Vox's, I have a Vox ADVT-30XL and I use the 'Modern' amp model with the volume gain and treble all the way up, bass at about 3 o' clock and midrange at about noon, and whenever I go past about halfway up give or take on the master volume it does the same to me that yours is doin to you
Just a question. I need a clean sound like what u did on 02:00 ..
Which is the best between The Mustang 2 and Vox Vt40+ and Spider IV?
@mixolidianrules Its an old American Strat (1986 model) with a load of different hardware on it! Plays great, and I love the HSH combination.
What type of stratocaster did you playv Lee?? Gorgeous!!
Another awesome video, Rob! Will you be at Andertons around Christmas, by any chance? :-) Hope you have a great week, and thank you for making all these amazing videos! I'm on a pedal hunt, and you've sold the Plim Soul to me before I've even tried it!
@AirgunAddict256 The pups are all Seymour D's - a jazz at the neck & a JB at the bridge with some random single coil in the middle. I like it, but its been like that for about 15 years so I fancy a change soon!!
@spitfire900 this definately - the roland has some good distortion sounds, but the cleans are shoddy and it tends to break at high volumes. I think either this or the Marshall MG30FX :)
@Taygoo15 Its a Shar Pei - she's called Lola & she has her own facebook page!!!
Yea there are about 4/5 (can't check on the amp it's too dark, haha!) a couple are fully clean, then there are some more bluesy one's allowing for a bit of overdrive.
@ChrisO7300 yep, just program your chosen clean to one of the banks and your chosen distortion to another, and use the footswitch to change between them :) I have the old AD30VT and you can also toggle the effects on and off separately if you like. I think the new footswitch does more though, so you can probably switch from clean to overdrive to lead distortion or whatever you've programmed in! Hope that helps.
thank you dad for buying me this great amp :b
@RobChappers I was wondering what the more distorted amp settings you were using one becuase i have got one of these great amps but i am struggling to find a really good distorted sound i like as the US Metal and Boutique Metal settings dont seem to have much distortion.
@iDealMedley We're going to do a proper shoot out of the Vox vs Cube vs Spider vs Mustang in January. Should be a great video. Right now, I'd look at the Cube 40XL if I were you.
sounds fine on mine tbh, you gotta set things even not too high but not too low either, a nice balance with a little delay sounds fantastic, if u wanna try the settings that i use let me know ;)
En un rato salgo a buscarlo. Que emoción.
hi I got this great amp some days ago, but I got a doubt there is an ACOUSTIC EFFECT it means that I can plug an electro-acoustic guitar there? or that it sounds like an acoustic guitar if I play electric guitar?? I'll appreciate ur reply t-you bye =)
elmero mero it makes an electric guitar sound like an electric guitar.
elmero mero it makes electric, sound like acoustic
thanks for ur answer
sorry for my response lol i meant to say it makes an electric sound like an acoustic... damn auto correct.
Was this the first one they ever did? Looks so quaint and sweet now..
steve vai for the love of god!!! awesome sounding amp i want it!
Thanks for the great reply
I've had this amp for a couple of years now. I find that the cali clean and US 2x12 sound best. Use a tube screamer for overdrive. Good for bluesy Stones AC DC style. If your looking for more metal tones look elsewhere.
vox is actually recommended for Metal so...
@Goosemeyer it has the brian may amp on there...
HEY I really need your help ...
Please compare these three amps-
1) Vox VT+ Series(Preferably VT+ 20 or VT+ 40)
2) Vox VTX Series( Preferably VT20X or VT40X)
3) Fender Mustang II ( Because I is too cheap and the III is too expensive)
4) Roland Cube Series( Preferably ROLAND CUBE-40GX GUITAR AMPLIFIER)
5)Peavy Vypyr Series ( Preferably Peavy Vypyr 15 15W 1x8)
6)LANEY CUB 10 CLASS A/B 10W( As it is purely tube, I might consider buying a overdrive pedal)
Thanks you.If you could do a video I would be so happy, but if you can't then a written review would do.
id prefer the vox vt+ series, or the roland cube series as the 2nd place, but the vox will need maintenance more/ and i hear that the fender mustang isnt so good at the high gain
Did this feedback on higher gain settings for you? I have the VT20+, and unless I set the noise reduction to unreasonable levels, this thing squeals at me really bad no matter what I do. I've tried multiple guitars, cables(unfortunately I only have cheapies), wall outlets, and moving as far away from it as possible, it all results in feedback(again, only on high gain settings).
ugh. I've asked this question in quite a number of amp demo vids.
1. Can I gig with this amp? clean and brutal with a very loud drummer?
2. how good is it with pedals?
ORION!!!!
1. Is it good for Punk/Metal? 2. Is it loud enough for a small venue?
good sounding amp
1:59 thanks Chappers, thank you so much.
Hi Rob, how do you get as clean sound as possible on the vox, i got a vt120 and the gain hits over when I use my ac-3, any tips to get it totally clean?
Just picked it up at Best Buy for $82! No joke. It was a close out special. All gone though.
I love the dog more than the amp! That is saying something cos that is one of the baddest amps!!!
@YohanBone ahhh nicee one man :P have you got one ? if so would you recomend it ? :D
@TheELPazzaro You gotta crank that master volume and use the wattage knob to control the volume. This way you push the 12AX7 in the output circuit and soak the hell out of it. Works for me. :D
@slimmetalpickn are you sure? because I own a fender bullet 150 (38w) and if I crank it up to the max I can get over the drums no prob.
@Njcworld i own one and have you checked if the compressor setting is set up right or if not how about your amp lead?
do u review vox vt20+?? btw im a big fan of your review videos haha
@spitfire900 my friend: the Vox. I just bought it. This thing has more things than you expect.
Have that amp, love that dog!
Love that freaking dog.
I can't afford an AC30 but I am definetely buying this.
What brand was that green explorer you were playing? It was friggin hot
How do the new VT+ range compare to the old VT range? Not the advt, the ones with like 22 amp models and 8 banks
NIce Dune quote :)
Nice Dune movie ref.
Is there a way with this amp to switch between normal settings(just distortion or a clean sound) to combo settings like distortion w/ wah? Just wondering because it would seem inconvenient to have to press buttons on the amp during a song to add wah to a certain lick or solo when you could just press like a pedal or something... Im only asking because I want a good versatile amp, but keeps things easy to work with...
Dos this have emulated out........I mean in a gig can I connect it to the mixer directly without mic-ing it.......?? ..please answer I'm really thinking of buying this.....and can I perform with vt40+ in front of a 800-1200 people in a band competition maybe.....?????
having the master high is good, but not a good idea to crank it, 3 o' clock is usually all you are going to get out of it without wearing the tube out, also, on the higher wattage models, try not to put them to full wattage and full master, as you risk blowing a speaker. just some advice
@JasonBourne28 Thats Lola - my dog & company mascot! She has her own facebook page if you want to stay in touch - ha ha!!
can u guys put up a video of the most afordable epihone les paul thanks
