- The Road is Open Again - FDR Presidential Library 1933 - Video 352 - From IMDB: A Songwriter falls asleep while writing a song about the NRA. He dreams that Washington, Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt appear in his room asking him why he wants to write such a song and they're reassuring him that FDR is the right way. When he starts singing his new song, he finds himself alone, but he knows that the FDR will lead the USA back on the road to prosperity. Written by Stephan Eichenberg.
The Plot Against America brought me here
me too 🙂

Finally found this... Me Four?
And now we are living in another Plot Against America, wherein the only way they can win is by stealing the election; having hired thugs at the polls and spreading lies. Remember the final scene in "The Plot Against America"?
Same.
It is used so brilliantly in The Plot Against America. The song itself is so 1930s, and the images encapsulate the hope turned to dread of the era.
Wish they had Theodore Roosevelt instead of Woodrow Wilson.
But this is still awesome either way.
The song is written for the National Recovery Association (not the NRA we ought to know today). I just knew this song when exploring Dick Powells catalogue in the Internet Archive.
This song slaps. No cap.
Little did we realize we would com MUCH closer to the Plot Against America then we could have imagined.
I hope we can sing this song again when the pandemic is over.
Pandemic not fully over but with Joe I'm singing it!
Precisely what I thought and felt the moment I watched it.
The guy playing Lincoln was Ming the Merciless in the original Flash Gordon films (Charles Middleton).
Who else is here because this music is used in the intro for the tv show the plot against america?
Is Woodrow Wilson not Teddy Roosvelt!
That's Woodrow Wilson, not Teddy Roosevelt.
Indeed
Never knew what this song was untill I saw The Plot Against America!
Who the hell else was with him in that room at the end?
Plot Against America
Looks more like Wilson!! Doesn't look anything like Teddy - not even a mustache.
The road's closed, now.
Well, you meant now
@@GalTheGodOfKnowledge yup now the road is actually closed lmao
But the Road will be open again,
@@charlesstuart7290 Until the second wave haha
Ask a Qmoron the "deeper meaning" of the song, for a laugh.
Seeing an awful president like Woodrow Wilson standing alongside great presidents like Washington and Lincoln is weird (or at least, him being treated as though he could be compared to those two), even if it's understandable, as at the time this video was created (1933), Wilson was known for being president in WW1.
Yes, but he was the president who hired FDR, so I suppose this earned a few more brownie points at the White House.
All presidents that get us into war are great.
Imagine Trump standing there.
@@solarflare1206 I imagine, when I think of Trump at all, him whining about not getting more face time.
@@wingitprod Lincoln and Kennedy, in particular. Agreed.
i like this ad and yes the road is closed
The propaganda is strong with this one.
