OMG THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR CLARIFYING THIS FOR ME! I had a horrible O-chem 1 professor and now I’m in graduate school for my doctorates in biochemistry 1 and the nomenclature NEVER m add sense and we were suppose to know this BUT I didn’t until now! Thanks!
This was really helpful for me but one question when identifying or naming if you were given just the number so 18:1 or the common name how could you draw or write the systematic name? Would you just have to know I guess where the double bonds would be located if it were a unsaturated fatty acid. Sorry if this doesn't makes sense :)
