Like 10 years ago I remember MTV did something ( or maybe VH1) But it was about Kanye West, it was a full feature that showed him from studio to stage. Anyone remember what it was called?
I feel like there’s so much sampling of 90s and 2000s r&b songs bc “artists” know it’ll instantly get people’s attention, but the songs themselves are mediocre. “The Weekend” was far from mediocre. It was the perfect bridge between 2000’s r&b to now. SZA and this producer did the damn thing!! Made a whole timeless bop!!
Not only is this amazing but it's so tight to see someone use Logic Pro!! A lot of people kept telling me FL and Ableton was the way to go but Logic is my shit
I find just from experimenting that different DAWs are better at achieving certain sounds than others. Granted you can achieve any sound you want in any DAW, I find FL is good for southern hip hop & trap beats, Reason & Ableton are good for sample based beats (boom bap, lo fi, chillwave) & EDM. Logic I feel excels in R&B and other genres that use actual instrumentation.
The first verse to that record is legendary, vocals, the production, melody...all came together to create a catchy addictive song the instant you heard it
I just ran into these videos and literally have been binge watching them all. This is GENIUS...no pun intended... There is something about the artist sharing their moments of creative bliss and taking us through their thought process of making it.
The detail in the instrumental of this beautiful song never fails to amaze me. A masterpiece. I'd love to see the producer for "Normal Girl" break that down, that song invokes this nostalgic, cheerful yet melancholy feeling in me
I'm so glad they did a spotlight on the producer!! Ctrl has amazing beat structure and it never feels boring or repetitive bc the instrumentals are so strong :') such a great song
I love dating music producers. I love hearing a beat/sample come alive from scratch with a glass of wine and some candles lit. I could listen to them play around with a beat all night.
They should honestly do a Netflix series about producers making their beats
jdc37162 Very good idea.

I'm gonna need Genius to go ahead and run that *broken clocks* deconstructed episode
Abraham Gil Jr broken clocks is sampled from a daniel ceaser song
Good User, M.a.a.d Internet yeah but it would still be interesting
it's good to see that sampling is still alive. these young producers are taking it to another level.

he is the reason behind why i love CTRL other than sza Thank god indeed
He made a great beat 😍 And Sza just goes so perfectly with it
He made love galore too
Couldn’t have picked a better artist
When he says he couldn't figure out what to put in the vocals, and then creates what's one of the dopest parts of the track is just amazing to me.
This should be a daily thing
khaled i know😂😂
I'm tryna see Pretty Little Birds. Thats a beautiful ass instrumental
Lyrical Myracle true
I've be seeing you everywhere fr
Of course Terrace Martin is one of the greatest Cali producer weve seen since Quik
They aren't gonna do 2 of these for the same artist unfortunately. I'm sure we'd like to see the breakdown for all the songs
My favorite song from the album!!!!
That takes some serious talent. Producers deserve more recognition
can't believe i never recognized the 'set the mood' sample ! gotdamn !
this makes me love 'the weekend' even more now .
😍 😍 😍 😍 😍
Nicole O. I heard it right away cuz I love that "Set the mood right" interlude so much.
Nicole O. same!!
this series has me so hooked...producers dont get the credit or love they deserve
He did a great job on this track. Hope he gets more clout.
Mischief Memoirs right. Szas voice goes perfectly with it.
I love these videos, it really shows you how talented the producers are. 💯
they are the real genius behind every hit

uh oh Ikr, like this generation's Deathrow
T.I.M Geez man that's dope
Łove Galore deconstructed!!
Lauren Powell they can't do them all
Lauren Powell watch internet money's breakdown video
Love galore largely uses a sample of a cover of a drake song so idk if there's enough to it to do a video
ThankGodForCody produced that as well lol
Not only is this amazing but it's so tight to see someone use Logic Pro!! A lot of people kept telling me FL and Ableton was the way to go but Logic is my shit
I am getting logic and I hope I made the right decision
100% worth it dude as long as you know what you're doing, watch youtube tutorials and you'll master it I'm sure!
Mr. G that's good to hear, I'm moving from FL mobile so literally anything would be better
from years of producing i've realised that any DAW is good enough. It's about how well you master the program that really matters
The first verse to that record is legendary, vocals, the production, melody...all came together to create a catchy addictive song the instant you heard it
This is beautiful. I could listen to R&B instrumentals all day
This is genius man, he literally produced all my favourite songs on CTRL.

This production is pure heat. I don't know how many times I've come back to watch this 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This song is INSANE and such a classic. Thank you so much for this song and piece!
Such an amazing breakdown. Really brought a whole new sound to RNB. Every female RNB artist 2 years later wants beats that sound like The Weekend.
He went crazy on this and all the other tracks on ctrl. One of my inspirations.
*Get the guy who made the beat for Go Gina by SZA*
I am still waiting for the remix with Miguel
RJ Foyles Go Gina is legit my favorite song from the album, despite being so short.
And Garden (Say It Like Dat) 😍
I'm pretty sure he did the instrumental for most her songs of ctrl
Off of*
I love hearing the concept behind the making
I WANNA SEE HOW CAM OBI MADE DOVES IN THE WIND
Sza's voice is one of the coldest voices rn fr 🔥🔥🔥

Finding the right chords for a sample really is the most satisfying feeling in the world

💀💀 @ replies
these videos are so dope, I can watch this all day. Dope beat and song!
Does anybody else find it visually pleasing that all the equalizer animations actually match up
Awesome! Feel this one could just exist as an instrumental, especially considering the intro part
Decades from now, the intro will be sampled for the latest and greatest hit of the day
The instrumental is elite.. the lyrics was the icing on the cake
This series is amazing genus don't ever stop
This guy is the real deal
Love his braids too 💖
Makes me love this song so much more now. Thanks for breaking it down for us
